Studio news, Part 3

After giving that sneak peek at the end of my last blog post I am back to show you how my Studio is coming along. I needed some blinds and I decided I could not resist a red version of the same blind we have in our kitchen.
Here is my studio blind, it is a Sanderson fabric called Dandelion

I just love it! As the daylight is so short at the moment I have not been able to get any photos without artificial light but I am sure this gives you an idea

My Hb and I fitted this one on Sunday. I have also bought a matching blind for the left hand window and at the moment have not decided about the door. I may well buy a plain maroon red for that or I may just buy the same. They were out of stock so I have time to think about it.
This is a link to the green version we have in the kitchen.

We also have lampshades of this in our newly decorated room.
I cannot get enough of these wonderful retro patterns.

Back at the Studio...this is the light sensitive lantern my Dad installed for me. It clicks on and off with any movement and when I go in and out. It gives such a cosy glow in the darkness.

I also have a clock which I can see from my workbench.

We have assembled the first of my Ikea Billy bookcases for my storage. I have bought another 2 doubles and a single but we need to get an off cut of carpet in place first.

Some of my card making stash in place.

I wound my new fairy lights around the rafters which also give a lovely glow.

That is my Studio news up to date for now. I will of course post again when I have some more to show.As you all know life gets rather busy this time of year.

So here I am working outside in my wonderful creative space. I love it. It gives me a little warm glow inside when I see these photos.

I hope you are all keeping cosy wherever you are in the world. In my Count down to Christmas there are only 26 days left so I really should get on with the last of my cards and jewellery. Have fun with all your festive preparations too.

As I have felt very nostalgic writing the post I just had to share one of my favourite poems for this time of the year. It's the last day of November tomorrow and this seems very apt!

November

November comes and November goes,
With the last red berries and the first white snow.
With night coming early and dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket and frost on the gate.
The fires burn and the kettles sing
And earth sinks to rest until next spring.

Elizabeth Coatsworth

Take care,

Back soon,

Jane x

  8. It is a lovely poem isn't it Vivienne. I know that I am SUCH a lucky girl with my Studio and it all started with a conversation in the summer of 2010 with Milly at the Hampton Court Flower show!
Enjoy the rest of the week,

  9. Dear Jane, I am glad you showed the blinds so I could see what those pretty shapes were from your other post. To me they look like colorful balloons in the sky! You've made such a cozy work space, good for you! I also love the poem and read it out loud to hubby.

  10. Hi Jane, I also love the way you have decorated your lovely studio. I think I would love to sit in there with tea even if I wasn't creating......maybe just thinking and dreaming! Love everything, the lighting is wonderful, I love your fairy lights. I put them up around this time of year around my mantels and then the cosy festive atmosphere is set! xoRobin❤

  13. Oh, it's looks so cozy and inviting, Jane! The blind is PERFECT for it and...everything is just looking wonderful. I would love to work in there (or even better, sip some tea and watch you working while Billy purrs on my lap...)!

Have a wonderful week, dear, it's only "a few" days until Christmas!

    Yours,

  17. Beautiful! I love the retro patterns. I'm feeling a little inspired by your lighting. I only have a glaring overhead light in my studio -- which I hate, so often only work in there in the daytime. Maybe it's time for me to get out some fairy lights too? I'm so happy for you as you build your nest :)

  18. Hi Teje, it is such an improvement for me to work where everything is, rather than on the dining room table. It was sometimes too much effort to get things out as it took as much time as the making!

  19. Hi Susan, these really are gorgeous designs and I think pretty dateless so they will not lookout of place in a few years' time! Yes it's tree and mince pie time this weekend, I can't wait;0)

  20. Linda I hate overhead lighting but I do need good light to work in...spot the daylight bulb in the lamp on my work bench!! You really should get some fairy lights up...their glow gives such a restful atmosphere.

  23. Your studio is looking better and better( if that's possible).
The retro fabric blind is my favorite addition. Enjoy everything with your Christmas lights and birthday radio.
(It is too cold in my part of the world to be in an outdoors studio)

    Best wishes,

  24. Thanks Anne the blinds make a big difference now the daylight hours are so short. The temperature is still fine for working out there with my little heater but not once we get any frosts or snow. This year is so mild compared to last.
