May Babies

Last weekend we went to visit  our daughter and our soon to be son-in-law (78 days to go). They live on the South Coast and we always like to take a walk at some point during the day. On that day we went to visit Swanwick Marina and Swanwick Nature reserve. We were lucky that despite it raining heavily all day back in Surrey it was a dry day for us.
As we started our walk I noticed the abundance of blossom in the hedgerows.

Even the "May" was out.

I do love to see water and boats.
We went around the marina with a "wish list" for desirable boats. A lot of them were over £1 million so a little out of our budget I think ;0)

There was even a swan swimming around proving that
the marina is aptly named.

We then walked from the marina up to the nature reserve and I noticed how the row of cottages at the bottom of the road had all been brightly painted. Lots also had model boats in their windows. The gardens were also pretty with an abundance of clematis flowering everywhere.

At the marina we could hear lots of cheeping and from out of the rushes emerged this Mummy Duck..

Accompanied by these little sweet May Babies.

She proudly took them for a walk along the footpath whilst we stood and smiled at them ambling by. And after a while she safely returned them to the pond.

We then walked up to the main lake which has a wonderful blue glow to it

It was wonderful to see the new circle of life, new leaves on the trees and new baby creatures. After all the rain we have recently had everywhere looks so lush. There were even forget-me-nots growing amongst the new nettle growth.

After our lovely walk it was then time to head back to their house and have a welcome cup of tea and home made cakes that our daughter had made especially for us.

Cakes links very well to my challenge card for today which is a Cupcake Fairies card which I was commissioned to make for a young lady who turns 15 in a few weeks time.

I used one of my favourite Lili of the Valley stamps called, "Never too old for cupcake". I coloured her with my trusty Promarkers and highlighted her with my Prismacolor pencils. You can just see in this close up that I added some Glossy Accent to the wings to give them a 3 dimensional look. I found some pretty cake/sweet related backing papers in my stash and added some lace and ribbon for a really girlie feel. I finished it off with some gems on the corners.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;
Simon Says Stamp Sweet Tooth
My Mum's Craft Shop Fairy Tales #56
Papertake Weekly Cute cute cute
Whimsey Challenge Blog Make it pop, add dimension
Bearly Mine Fairies #34
Sunday's with Crissy Things with wings #29 (3rd and final entry)
Crafter's Companion Here comes Summer #24
Lili's Little Fairies Favourite craft tool My fave tool I have used is my scallop punch. I love using it to accent my circular sentiments.

The sun has finally put in it's appearance this afternoon..hooray and it's looking good for the weekend. I plan to get my lawn cut, it has got so long I think there is a danger of losing Billy in it. Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Bye for now,

Jane x

  6. I love these May babies - they're too cute, Jane! And oh, just 77days to go (I'm counting it today, Saturday 12nd), I am shocked in a good way! I was "just yesterday" when it was six months or so... Wonderful! I just wish the summer at yours (and HERE!) will bee sunny, dry and beautiful so you can celebrate it all outside and get beautiful pictures to be cherished for years to come.

Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend!
