Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014, May..Jane's Journal Style

It is time for my next Tim Holtz inspired creation. This month Tim  inspired us to use some of our crafting "treasure". You know, all those lovely trinkets and embellishments which you buy and can never quite bear to use.
Here is his tag for May. He had created little tiles to display his treasure on.

I love all the trinkets and  embellies he used and he also introduced the new shadow press folder to make the word Beautiful. Now this posed me a problem as the new shadow press is not freely available in the UK yet.

I had a crafty think for a few days and put some ideas together. I decided that I would improvise by making my own shadows on my chosen word. If you remember I am making 12 cards for 2014 not tags and I decided that if I was going to have to break into using some of my "admire and stroke only" trinkets and  embellies that my card needed to be made with someone pretty special in mind. Our 33rd wedding anniversary is coming up in July and I decided that there was no one more special than my Hb and that I would create an anniversary card. for him. I used my January TH creation for his birthday and  the March one for his Easter card and he genuinely loved them.

Tim used the wrinkle free technique to create his background and I went for using 3 base colour distress inks  (DI) to make mine.

This was the backing card I made. I decided to use the word CELEBRATE as my shadow word. I die cut the letters in white card and then added some contrast colour..Rusty Hinge. I made my own "shadows" using Gathered Twigs marker pen.
I stuck the letters onto an embossed panel of card.
I added some depth around the panel using Pumice stone DI.  I did not want to use chipboard on my card as I felt it would make it too heavy so I made a "faux" raised look by using ink.
I went through my scraps box to find some other small pieces to use for the other panels of the card.
I also die cut some more lattice with white card. I put some Rock Candy crackle glaze on it (it's the first time I have used this amazing product and I love it). When it was dry I blended in some Rusty hinge and Vintage Photo DI. It created such a cool effect.
Next it was time to look out my special trinkets. I used some lovely bronze effect charms I have in my jewellery stash, some Ideaology charms and also the red heart I had saved from a Lindt chocolate bunny I had for Easter.
Each tile of my card represents something special to my Hb and me. The number 33 is how many years we will have been married for in July.

Here are a few of the tiles to share with you. The butterfly tile (I used my favourite Cheery Lynn die for this) represents our little garden where we enjoy lunch on sunny weekends. The rose, which is bronze, I painted with Distress paints. This represents the roses I had in my wedding bouquet all those years ago. The backing paper is a scrap from a Craftwork Crafts paper pad I won last year called Time Flies. This is so appropriate as our 33 years of marriage  have flown by and what fun we have had together. He is my soul mate.
The little key is "the key to my heart" which my Hb has always had since I met him at the age of 18.
More very appropriate words using one of my treasured TH metal word bands. The 2 star brads represent our 2 children, our finest creations from our marriage.
a few chit chat words

and this panel shows our initials and the heart charm from my Easter bunny. I attached them all with little flower brads which have also been in my treasure stash for years.
So after all those little sneak peaks I am sure you want to see my completed card....

I hope he loves it when I give it to him in July. This took me parts of  3 days to make and was a real  labour of love....made for my true love. Yes I am such a soppy old romantic but I can never change and yes we have lived happily ever after...

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

I have taken annual leave from work and  I am meeting my best friend Karen in London.  We are attending the 125 year anniversary celebration of the formation of our old school's old girls' association. This is being held in London at the Clothworkers' Hall, a very old grand building near Monument. I will be taking my trusty camera of course.

Today  is also very exciting as I am am having ladies' lunch with my 2 very important girlies...my darling daughter and granddaughter. We are meeting at Guildford so it's time for me to dash.

Thanks always for your kind visits and comments.

Back soon,

Bye for now,
