Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2014, October, Jane's Journal style.

This month Tim is in Halloween mode. I have already made 4 Halloween tags for my "kids" and I do not really celebrate Halloween so I thought I would crack on and make a Christmas card instead. This is his tag this month and you can see the great step by step on his blog page here
12 tags of 2014 - october... | www.timholtz.com
For my card I wanted to replicate the cool technique Tim uses where he masks off the spider, adding texture with paste and then removes the mask so that the image sits behind the paste. He also uses glossy accents on only part of the pumpkin stamp which I also thought was a cool effect which I would use. I also wanted to have a go using  the new Distress Sprays for the background but guess what.... I don't own any! However I do have some Dylusions sprays in a couple of colours so I decided to dig those out  and have a play and get very inky fingers.

I decided to use my Visible Image sleigh stamp as the masked stamp and I first embossed it in black on my card.
I made a mask out of paper and cut it out.
I then put the mask in place and pressed Grunge Paste through my Imagination Crafts winter trees stencil. I placed the moon over Rudolf.
I also used my Tim dot fade stencil randomly over the page to represent snow
I left this to dry, removed the mask  and then got out my sprays.

I loved the splattering and the mixing.
I left a small part of the sky white as I really
like this effect.

I also added some metallic distress paint to the trees and glamour dust to the moon.

I used this cute very old wood mounted snowman stamp in place of the pumpkin Tim used.

I coloured him up with Distress inks, using a paintbrush and some water and then added the Glossy accents and some Distress glitter.

I just added the Glossy Accents to the head and body of my snowman to add some dimension. I also added some Pumice Stone distress glitter for extra sparkle.

Once dry I fussy cut him out and then added him and some finishing touches to my card....here are some details. I added Glamour dust to the branches of the trees and also to the snowtex which I spread onto my card and sat Mr Snowman in.

and here is my finished card. It was so difficult to photograph as it really does sparkle incredibly in real life especially the moon, trees and the snow.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

I have Friday off work again this week to see my girlies and I am off to a crafty day with my friend Brenda today. I will then catch up with my darling son on Saturday. I always take him up some lunch as he works all day will probably walk Bear for him too.  All in all it's a good end to the week of me.

Back soon,

Bye for now,
