Strawberry Pimm's O'Clock

Although as I typed  this post yesterday afternoon the rain was coming down in sheets, we have enjoyed some good sunny days in August. It's just easy to forget them when there is enough rain out there to build an arc!

I decided to write a sunshine filled post to remind us that we still have another month of summer left. I wanted to share with you a new variety of my favourite summer tipple which I noticed on the shelves of the supermarket recently. Pimm's bring out some new editions from time to time but I did not want to buy a whole bottle. I then noticed some in cans, ready made with lemonade. There was no excuse now not to try it.  Obviously this found its way into my bag.

Mmm Pimm's with strawberry and a hint of mint ( and no I am not sponsored by them at all....I wish I was!)
There is nothing quite like a cold Pimm's on a hot day. I added ice, cucumber, a slice of lemon and a strawberry. We sat at our new garden table looking out into our tiny garden of delight and listened to the bees buzzing around as we relaxed and savoured the warmth of the sunshine. My Hb is not really a Pimm's fan.....he toasted the sunshine with a G&T.

My opinion on this variety.....it's very pleasant but to me nothing beats the original. However being able to buy this special edition in cans means that you don't have to buy a whole bottle just to have an occasional change. That's a win win in my books.

My card challenge today is also red/summer based and is a card I made for a 40th birthday.
I used one of my Nicecrane digi images. This one is from the Henderson's flowers selection I love this selection.
These are the others available
Henderson ' s Giant Flowering Vol 1

Here are a couple of close ups of my card
I made the background with distress inks and then embossed my Visible Image rose stamps using glitter embossing powder.
I altered a bronze flower charm with paints.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

Artistic stamper anything goes

Anything but cute making magic again I was inspired by all the gorgeous shimmering textures in the photos. I also think my flower with the heart brad looks like something from a fairy tale like Snow White...or is that just in my mad head?

Mixed  media world gorgeous textures

Country View Crafts summertime

Allsorts Roses

Crafty cardmakers No patterned paper

Papertake weekly take your pick I have chosen vintage/distressed

Simon says stamp Wednesday anything goes

Pixie's Snippet Playground week 191 here I used a snippet of ribbon on my card, I didn't have enough for a bow but still thought it added some shimmer to my card.

Fingers crossed that this biblical rain moves on in time for the upcoming bank holiday. We are meeting friends for a trip to a National Trust Property on Sunday and it would be lovely to stroll around the grounds as well as visiting the house.

Thanks for visiting and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to my  newest followers. I really hope you enjoy following my creative journey here at Jane's Journal. I hope that today's post has reminded us that there is lots of sunshine around us.....even if it's not shining from the sky just at this moment.

Back soon,

Bye for now,

Jane x

  3. How lovely to sit in the garden, in the sunshine with a nice glass of Pimm's, Jane! I wish I could join you!
I'm getting a bit fed up with the weather men (or should I be politically correct and say weather people?!) who seem to be giving us the worst case scenario forecast, so that if it's better than predicted, that seems like a bonus! The forecast for us today was of showers, showers and more showers, so I left the washing and planned my day accordingly - we have since had beautiful sunshine and white fluffy clouds all day - now I know this is a good thing (if I could've been in it), but alas not! So I am hoping that you are right and we still have a bit more Summer left to enjoy sits in the garden and the warmth on our skin! Anyway...rant over!
Love your pretty Pimm's coloured card but quite how you are managing to create anything with your wrist in a split is beyond me! Hope it heals itself soon and you can forgo the surgery! Hugs, Lisa x

  5. Have never tried Pims...will have to check our local liquor store here in Vancouver, Canada to see if they stock it!
Enjoyed your post and perfect to have the strawberry balanced on top (in your photo).

Your card looks fab. Did you notice that all the colours in the G&T and Pims photos are in your card? But in a wilder, less restrained manner! Love it!

  11. Aw, a change in drink is good. I usually drink iced tea for my lunch at work. But on Wed. night I decided I'd not brew it and buy one at work. I bought Arizona Sweet Tea which was a good change. Your Pimms looks refreshing! We are praying for rain here this weekend, as it's in the forecast for a few days. It's been dry and hot, more than we've known for many years! Lovely card as always. You are creative!

  16. That drink looks divine! Such a wonderful color as well and your picture captures the true meaning of summer-lazy summer days enjoyed with loved ones and friends.

Your green frame on your card pulls in the colors of Georgies mood board as does your use of the gems in the bottom corner. I agree that your flower with the heart does invoke thiughts of Snow White. Lovely creation and I bet whomever recieved it enjoys the card immensely. Awesome sauce!

  17. Happy anniversary! It looks like you had a beautiful outing to celebrate. I've never had Pimms, so can't say whether I agree with you or your husband about it. I'm all for sampling new things though. Pretty card. I love those old-time kinds of illustrations.

  21. I have to say I don't remember these sunny days you mention (but then I suppose I was locked inside the theatre for most of August)… and I'm envying you the glow of that strawberry Pimms, though I agree nothing quite captures the taste of summer like the original!

Love how your card again picks up the colours of the photos, and that's a great showcase for the lovely NIcecrane seed packets too.
Thanks so much for playing along at Country View Challenges.
