The trees have arrived

Hello all, it's Billy here. I have been busy typing up this post for Jane as at the weekend the annual madness descended into her household.

Yes it is the time of the year when trees walk into my house. Well I say walk, they seem to need a little assistance but that's being a bit pedantic in my books. Now things are a bit different this year as I am conducting my overseeing of this not from the green chair but from her bed...and there is good reason behind this..
It comes in the form of  someone rather big and hairy who has come to stay for a few days. Yes Bear, Jane's son's dog is here. Hmmm....looks like he's got part of Rudolf's antler there...
Now us cats are not too keen on dogs, they are rather too excitable in our books. Who ever told Bear that cats like to be chased was very mistaken. Therefore I have taken up residence in the upstairs of the house where I can oversee everything perfectly from my vantage point, separated from Bear via a stair gate which he can't squeeze through.

So back to today's post...On Saturday morning I meowed down to Bear to shut his eyes....daft dog always does as he is told. I just wish he would listen this well when I tell him not to chase me.
When I told him to open them just look who had walked in.
Yup it was Norman the Nordmann, all netted up as per usual. He is obviously a very tricky tree to catch. Jane's hubby sawed a little off his base (apparently it's like having your nails trimmed so no pain involved), so that he could drink properly during his Christmas stay. She says she gives him top ups of water but I swear I saw her with the gin bottle...or was that the elf?
Anyway Bear had a good sniff
and before you could say whiskers Norman was upright wearing his lights.
Then it was the usual fussing with those shiny things called baubles including 2 new ones....Meet my friend Olaf the snowman. He really can sing but boy does he know how to talk....
and Simon the sprout...he doesn't say much really. He is just...a sprout.
So once everyone had gone to bed, including Bear, I sneaked through the stair gate to say hello in person to Norman.

I had trouble getting him all in shot , he's pretty tall. He said that it was great to be back again and he wondered why the green chair was empty. He says that Bear is a very good dog and that I could stay downstairs but no way was I taking a chance like that. Also the Man in the red suit could be popping down the chimney at any time so I quickly called up to my friend Silky the fairy.
She waved down at me
She says she also feels a bit safer up here away from Bear.
I saw lots of my favourite friends who can all tell a story of when and where Jane bought them including her childhood moon.  I then quickly sneaked back upstairs before Bear woke up.
So it's back to guard duty on the bed for me for a few more days.
It's very tiring.... Old Choc will say hello soon, he called up the stairs to me but I will wait until Bear goes home as there is no way I am sneaking down in the night twice. Plus I have heard that dogs and chocolate don't mix so that's another reason for biding my time.

Now Jane also enters these card challenges and my paws typed this up for her. Goodness me she gets value for money out of me!
Here is today's creation, very appropriate for these long dark nights drawing in. Apparently the background is stencilled using glitter paste. I will vouch that it is indeed very sparkly.

She made it for these challenges;

The Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas #10
If you would like to play along with Linda's challenge you can see all the rules here. There are some great prizes for the winners too. The challenge is generously sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique Linda shares a tag each week and you just have to take something from it and make something Christmas themed. I have always chosen to make cards and it's a great way to make 12 very unique cards for Christmas.
You can also combine it with any other challenges.
This is Linda's tag for week 10 here. Jane took the sparkly stencilled background and the snowflakes to use for some of the inspiration in her design.

  14. I always look forward to Billie's post on the tree walking in. I giggled straight through this post, Jane, er, I mean Billie! You're a hoot! Roger (the cat) wanted me to say you are perfectly nuts to try to sneak down with Bear standing guard. He also says he's jealous you have your tree, and he has nothing but a 3 footer made from plastic with snowmen hanging all over it until the one in tied up with spider webs gets to come in next week.

Now onto business...this is one FINE, glittery card, Jane! How elegant and frosty! I'm here first, because I saw this in Linda's gallery, and had to move in for a closer look, but I will say thank you, too, for playing along at A Vintage Journey! Hugs! Sara Emily

  22. What a lovely story from Billy about how your tree gets to your house for Christmas! My 2 cats also escape to the 2nd floor when my son's 2 dogs come to visit - but I don't know where they go - they disappear somewhere - in a closet, under a bed, behind my craft cabinets? it's a secret they do not divulge to me - they just show up again as soon as the dogs walk out the door!?!

Love your black and white wintery card - beautiful stenciling and layering! thank you for finding the time to join us in the A Vintage Journey challenge Jane! Julia xx
