Alien invasion

Good morning all and welcome to my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image.

If you have been following the news on social media you will know that there are now co ordinating dies for the 3 fab space character sets as well as 3 of their most popular Christmas sets (squeal.. yes that includes the Christmas robins set).

Today I'm delighted to share my first make using one of the space character sets. If you're not familiar with the brilliant VI space characters they are; Captain Awesome, Robot Data and Alien invader. Today I am sharing my sample made using the Alien Invader stamp set

There is currently a fab offer of 20% off and this also applies if you buy them as a bundle if you don't already own the stamps. Just use the code DIES20 at the checkout.

I used it with the fab stencil
Meshing around  and turned it into a planet, as you do!

This is what I got up to;
I made a circle easel card using red card. Mine was made using a 5 1/2" diameter circle die. (There are many videos and simple tutorials on line which show how these are made so I am not sharing that part of the process).
I sprayed aged mahogany and salty ocean distress stain sprays onto a piece of inky mop up mixed media card from my stash. When dry I added some Snowflurries distress mica stain for some sparkle. I then spread the new distress Glow grit paste through the Meshing around stencil.
and left it to dry.
I sneaked out to my studio that evening I took this photo of it glowing in the dark!
I stamped the alien stamps in the set and coloured them with distress pencils.
I die cut the Mesh background using a circle die to create my "planet" and adhered the stamped elements. I also added some gold foundry wax to the edge of my "planet"
I sprayed a little more mica stain onto the base of the easel
folded down the top and then stuck the "planet in place.
I raised the sentiment onto foam tape so that the front of the easel could stand behind it.
Here it is finished
with a couple of close ups

one final staged shot
and of course I had to end with some glow in the dark shots.

Such fun!

Sunflowers and bees

 Good morning all and welcome to my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image. August is in full swing and there are lots of lovely sunflowers in bloom. I decided to use these as the inspiration for my card today.

The stamp sets I chose to work with are the lovely Sunflower Grunge

 and the Bee happy set

with their co ordinating dies. These dies really do make this Bee set even more versatile.

This is what I got up to;

I stamped a batch of bees and coloured them with distress pencils

Using their co ordinating dies I die cut them out.

I like making batches as then I always have some bees readily at hand for my projects.

I made a background on glossy card using yellow and green alcohol inks. I added drops of yellow the the centre and dabbed the greens and a little yellow on a blending felt for the edges.

I stamped the large sunflower in the set and coloured it with distress pencils adding a little gold pen to the centre and glossy accents to give some dimension and a little sparkle. I also added wink of stella to the wings of the bees.
I also stamped one of the sentiments from Sunflower grunge and cut that out too.

I then assembled my design, gluing everything in place with a mixture of foam tape and PVA glue.  I finally matted my card onto yellow and then black card and adhered it to a square 7X7" white card blank/

Here is my finished card;

Dreaming of mermaids

 Good morning all and welcome to my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image. We're now into August which is holiday time for lots of people. I love visiting the seaside all year as our daughter and family live at the South Coast.

 As well as kayaking when it's hot and sunny we love to beach comb all year and find shells. My granddaughter and I always joke that perhaps one day we might even spot a mermaid. Yes Daisy and I have very vivid imaginations! So for today's make I thought I would use the brilliant Mythical Mermaid set to make a summery birthday card.

I also used the awesome Torn fishnet die

with a birthday sentiment from  Birthday wishes

and circles from Round in circles as bubbles.

This is what I got up to;

I used the torn fishnet die to die cut a frame in white card and cut it down to 6 1/2" by 4 1/2". I stamped rings from the round in circles using blue ink as bubbles. I also made an inky under sheet slightly smaller than the frame using chipped sapphire and prize ribbon distress stain sprays.

Using the frame for placement I stamped the mermaid and dolphins in grey and some waves from the mermaid set in blue as shown.

I coloured the images using distress pencils

and added some white pen details to the waves.

I also stamped the shells and crabs from the set around the frame and stamped and cut out the birthday sentiment as shown.

I then stuck the background under the aperture . I cut up some of the fishnet die and placed it around the frame as shown.  I matted it onto blue card and then a white 7 X 5" white card blank. The sentiment was raised using foam pads and I finished off with my signature sequins and glossy accents to highlight some of the "bubbles".

Here is my finished card
