The new Joy For You collection is full of wonderful festive crafting inspiration, and today I'm sharing a traditional Christmas card using the Decorative Ornaments stamp set 3478ssc.
Christmas crafting is my absolute favourite and although I am not normally a big "bling girl", at Christmas out come the glitters and sparkles to add to my festive makes. This is one of the 3 design team samples I made with the decorative ornaments stamp set.
I decided to go for a classic Christmas colour combination of red, green and gold, with a little tartan thrown in for good measure!
For my background, I used a sheet from gorgeous Tim Holtz Christmas Palette paper pack. I love the traditional red tartan design, and thought it would be the perfect backdrop for these lovely ornaments.

I stamped the ornaments on red card and gold heat embossed them, adding metallic pen details to give a rich, festive appearance. I really like the different shapes and intricate patterns, which remind me of vintage Christmas decorations.
I added gold twine and foam pads to the backs of the ornaments to raise them up.
I stuck them in place on the paper and covered the top with a strip of gold card.
For my sentiment I stamped the Merry Christmas greeting. I grunged it up using scorched timber distress ink and framed it with more of the tartan paper.
To create the greenery across the top of my card, I used Tim Holtz' Mini Holiday Greenery dies, cutting lots of little branches and leaves in different shades of green.
I arranged them in layers to create a full, festive display, with the ornaments appearing to hang beneath and stuck the sentiment over the top on raised foam pads.
I also added some little red pearls to resemble berries, and painted the leaves, berries and edges of the sentiment with the amazing new Tim Holtz Liquid Tinsel for a touch of Christmas sparkle. ✨
I love how all the different elements work together to create a traditional Christmas card with plenty of dimension and festive details.
Here is my card once more.
