Summer in print

I am delighted to be in print again..this time in the August edition of Craft Stamper...
If you don't buy the mag, when you're next in WH Smiths have a peep...I'm on page 57.

The brief for my card was "Summer meadows", the colours were yellow, green, mauve and purple with wildflowers, sunshine and delicate floral forms.
These ideas were translated by me into my version of summer meadows. I went for a very CAS card this time.

I used my 3 shades of distress inks and created a background for my stamp.
I then stamped my Inkyliscious meadow stamp
I die cut an oval into my card and also die cut some of my TH wildflowers using some inky card

below is my finished card
and here it is in the magazine...it's such fun seeing them together.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

W is for......................

The letter for this fortnight over at the Craft Barn's dictionary challenge is W. Last week I had a wonderful day out with my daughter at Bird World in Surrey. Daisy is just the right age now to adore all the animals and birds there especially the babies.
There was just a complete sense of wonder on her face as she experienced all this excitement.

 We watched a bird display
 and our favourite was this amazing snowy owl who flew silently over our heads

I just loved these 3 photos of my sweet granddaughter, she is just entranced by the birds.

So there are no prizes for guessing  that my W is for wonder. I wanted to capture this wonderful day in my art journal.  I sorted out some of my bird stamps and a splendid sentiment I won from my crafting buddy Di in Pixie's playground.
 I stamped and white embossed the PA bird silhouette to represent the snowy owl and stamped my VI feathers in archival inks. I stamped and black embossed my sentiment.
I chose some summery distress inks and amongst my ink choices were the pink and blue of Daisy's little shorts and T shirt.
I used the greens and yellows to blend a background. I love the way the birds resist the ink and look a little like the snowy owl we wondered at.
I then added the blue and pink through my TH floral stencil to build up some bright layers of ink.

I couldn't choose between 3 of my photos of Daisy so I made a collage of all of them.
Then it was time to put on my creative hat....and here is my finished piece.
Here is my sentiment and you can see I added lots of other little birds too.
 There is such a sence of wonder in these photos.
I would like to enter my art journal page into the following challenges;

I am driving down to Southampton today to pick up Daisy from nursery as her Daddy is working away this week. It's a real bonus week for me as we were only down there on Saturday.

There is something back this morning though......this was my view at 8am from my back door....

yay...summer is back...just in time for the second week of Wimbledon..let's hope we get a flaming July as June was such a wash out. Enjoy the week ahead.

Wishing all my friends across the pond a very happy 4th July.

Back soon,

Bye for now,

Going round in circles for my July Country View Challenge DT inspiration

Hello and welcome to July which must mean that it's time for my next DT post for Country View Challenges.  June was far from flaming but the rain and sunshine we had means that my garden is full of flowers and looking lush.

This month we have been asked to "have fun with circles" by the lovely Hazel who is hosting the challenge.
As you well know there is a "cute" girl inside my mixed media shell so I decided for this month's DT posts I would let my cute side out to play for a change. I decided to make new baby cards using as many circles as I could. I will share the boy's one today and the girl's one for my mid month inspiration post which is on 7th July.

After years of hankering after one I finally found myself the Penny Black baby hammock  stamp.

I stamped it and coloured it using my Promarkers. I  love colouring images but they do take some time. These are never cards in a hurry.  I highlighted it with my Prismacolour pencils and cut it out using a circular die.

I wanted to use as many circles as I could when creating my card so here goes and if you see any more let me know ;0)

1. I used a circle die to cut out my image
2. I used a circle scallop for the border.

3. I used circular jump rings to attach a dummy charm which had a circular loop!

4. I chose 2 papers from my stash both of which feature lots of circles.... and even circles within circles.
5. I used circular pearls and gems as embellies.

Phew.....I really had fun with circles...and here is my finished card.

I would like to enter it into the following challenges;

Simon says stamp Work it Wednesdays wafer thin dies my circle dies are both wafer thin Spellbinders.
Deep Ocean colours of summer

I hope you will try to join us over at Country view for our new "have fun with circles " challenge. It runs until 31st July and you can enter using any craft and any style. There is no limit to the number of entries nor the number of other challenges you also enter. Simples.....my kind of challenge ;0) You can find the link to it here

Thanks for visiting and for the kind comments you take the time to leave.
