I love rubber stamping and colouring the images and I have always bought "real" stamps to do this with. I have read about digital stamps but always thought they look quite tricky. I also thought that my standard printer ink would not cope with my Promarker alcohol pens and the printed image would smudge.
So I continued happily with my stamping until I was a lucky winner of some digital stamps not once but twice! My first win was for 3 digital stamps from an American company. I decided that as I have very few male stamps that I would try some that would suit male and general cards.
Here is one of the images, a cute crocodile taking life easy. I sized down the image and copied and pasted it a few times then printed it out onto 160g thin card using my very ordinary HP printer.
I was concerned that my Promarker alcohol pens would smudge the lines but they stayed totally sharp. On the left are some practice colourways I tried. As usual I highlighted my colouring using Prismacolor pencils.
These are the 3 images I won
And this shows how you can size the image on the computer to which ever size you want. Clever isn't it?
My most recent win of another 2 digital images was from my friend Kerry, owner of Ladybug Crafts Ink on their recent blog hop. I was able to choose 2 images from their gorgeous new floral range. I chose these 2 beauties.
I will certainly been having a play with these soon as I think they will make wonderful Easter as well as birthday cards.
I have one of my friend's son's 17th birthday coming up next week so I decided to make my very first "digital" stamped image card using one of the crocodiles I had coloured. Boy's cards are even harder to make than men's cards so I hope he likes this...
I followed a really good sketch which is being used by Papertake Weekly for their card challenge this week.
Here he is in close up...a rather cool dude I think ;0)
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;
Papertake Weekly Challenge Blog Sketch #65
Party Time Tuesdays #57 Anything Goes
Whimsey Cards Inspiration blog Paper Piecing #28
Creative Card Crew #5 Humour
Papercrafting Journey #4 anything goes
Craft us crazy #22 color inspiration
Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Use your stash I have used some of my stash of papers and also an old sentiment that has been in my stash for a long, long time!
Divas by design Spots and/or stripes #24 I have used green striped backing paper.
Secret crafter Saturday Challenge Go for green #175
Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes
So I have finally joined the digital age. It's funny that digital stamps have been around for some time but I thought they looked really tricky to use. They are nothing of the sort and the great advantages of them is choosing the size of the image plus they are so much cheaper and need no "real" storage space. Nothing will replace "owning" my stash of stamps but this has opened a whole new world of rubber stamping to me.
I hope you are all enjoying a great weekend? We are forecast some much needed rain here tomorrow but today is another lovely sunny day. We have been helping my son and his girlfriend paint their new flat. They hired a van today to transport their few bits of furniture and have officially "moved in ". If you missed my post New beginnings have a quick read and you will know that this is a very significant day for our family. I raise my glass to the happy couple and wish them so much happiness in the future in their new home.
Back soon,
Bye for now,
Jane x

Hello dear Jane,

I wish all is almost set in that new nest, and maybe Billy could visit them... ;)
Happy Tuesday!
Yours,
Mia

DeleteJane x
Your digital stamps look wonderful Jane..It must be a huge plus to be able to resize your images too...
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Matt & Charlotte..It's such an exciting time moving into your first home isn't it?...
Although not too easy for us parents to adapt to..time just flies by...When I see my girls becoming increasingly independent I have to tell myself this is how it's meant to be and that we must have done a good job!
Hope you are having a lovely week,
Susan x
Hi Susan, I am really enjoying using my digital stamps, they are so versatile. Matt and Charlotte are getting settled....bless them- all they had was a sofa and a bed in an unfurnished flat so there has been lots of buying for them and lots of gifts of useful things! It's a super flat though, so light and airy and with a lovely outlook. It is strange not seeing him everyday but as you say I do feel I have done my very best in leading him to independence. My dear Hb and I are back to being "Us 2"!!
