If you follow the culverts you reach the park where only last September I was gathering conkers, just look at the landscape now. The water is a least 5-6 feet deep here in the middle and possible deeper.
Thank goodness the river has these outlets as there are millions of gallons of extra water flowing here at the moment.
Even the normally mellow water at the ponds is roaring along.
It's quite a spectacle to see and here and I am glad that it is keeping the water away from my road. I really enjoyed my walk and when I got home guess what....it was raining again and this was the view from my kitchen window.
but rather than getting me down I was inspired to make a rainy day card. I was recently sent a fun set of images by Ignacio of Nicecrane designs for making my GD card. He has so many gorgeous designs do have a look at both his shop and blog for inspiration. The sheet I used is called Fascinating Babies and it features some real cute vintage baby images. Have a look at the link here I chose to use the baby with the umbrella and I also used an amazing stamp which I bought from Designs by Ryn I saw this used on Eileen's blog and had to buy it. I sat looking out at the rain and this is the card I created.
It's a really cool effect isn't it. I used a spare piece of the backing card I made for my #1 Tim card using Pumice stone distress ink which I spritzed with water. The little tag is Lili of the Valley and I added a gold ribbon which was a recent win from the Crafty Ribbons advent blog hop.
Here is a close up....
I just added a dot of white Prismacolor pencil to made the droplets look even more realistic. It's a good job that the baby has an umbrella isn't it.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

It just shows that whatever the weather there is inspiration all around us even when it rains and rains and rains................ and also talking of water, my darling Daisy Jane has now got a rubber duck for her little bath tub
and even better news my little sweetheart and her Mummy are coming to stay for a few days as her Daddy is working in Singapore until next Wednesday ..lucky us, I can't wait. I also got sent this sweet photo yesterday of her in a new dress.
****Squeal****.....I can't wait for some cuddles. She is 9 weeks old on Monday and now just so alert. She "chatters"constantly with baby babble, she is a delight and such a happy contented soul.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone whatever the weather. I will be enjoying the company of my darling daughter and granddaughter, how lucky I am. I really do feel so blessed.
Take care,
Back soon,
Bye for now,
Jane x
Goodness there has been such an amount of rain, hasn't there. It really is a blessing you have those culverts, unfortunately removing these, doing away with gardens and building on flood plains have caused so much of the problems that have resulted from the heavy rainfall!
ReplyDeleteI love those raindrops on your card, they look so real!!
So lots of Daisy time this weekend then, fantastic!! You know what Jane, I think she looks like her Daddy!
Have a fun weekend with the girls,

Thanks for sharing the rainy days photos. That's a lot of water. Right now in Oregon, where we live it's raining. Heavy winds as well. I'm sitting here, sad I couldn't be at church women's meeting, due to a sore throat, probably the flu that husband and daughter had and people at work. Your card is great, so creative. Stay dry and enjoy your daughter and granddaughter. A week ago Fri, I watched our 2 grandchildren. I always enjoy them. God bless!
ReplyDeleteWow fabulous pictures Jane! I live in Blackpool at the moment its not raining lol!Your granddaughter looks a real gem! Fabulous card just perfect for this weather, thanks for sharing with us at Crafty Sentiments - Good luck! Susan x
ReplyDeleteThe ponds and Wandle sure do look high, getting fed up with the damp now, but love how you've used it as inspiration for your gorgeous card. As for Daisy, she looks a real poppet. Bring more pics to show me on the 23rd.

Beautiful photos Jane. If you didn't say that the culverts are normally dry, I would've thought all that water belonged there. There's a lot of flooding near me too because it rained a lot, the river froze, broke up, the ice jammed, and that made the water back up. Isn't nature awesome? I hope you have a wonderful visit!
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Jane,
ReplyDeleteWonderful post.
I know the rain and all the flooding must be terrible but your ability to find inspiration from it and create this darling card of yours is fantastic!
Thank You for sharing photos of your pretty neck of the woods, I enjoy them so very much almost as much as I enjoy seeing how big Miss Daisy is getting!
Thank You~

Sorry to be so late in commenting. I totally agree with Vivienne's comments. Too many culverts have been removed, etc. ---when the rain pours down;it's causing new problems.
ReplyDeleteHoping things are better in Surrey now, Jane!!
Lovely baby and umbrella image.
Here's to warmer and drier days….

ReplyDeleteVery nice card Jane - the water drops are fab! We're still very soggy here, I'm looking forward to cooler, dryer weather, we had to collect the kids from school early as the road outside had turned into a river, the photos were all over the kent on-line news (it didn't actually get into school, thank goodness, but the police closed the road from one side, so it was more about how to actually park anywhere near school and them how to get kids to a car without them getting washed away).
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for your card entry and for some nicer weather!
