Dancing in May

The spring sunshine finally returned yesterday after a week of dull weather. However we did have some much needed rain last week. My tulips have just about gone over and it will very soon be time to go up to the nursery and get some summer bedding. Exciting time ahead! Here are my nearly finished tulips, they have been so gorgeous and the blooms are huge.

 It's time for my Monday DT make for Visible Image and today I am sharing a dance card I made for my friend's birthday. She has always loved dance and I thought the perfect image to use was the dancer from the
She also loves music and I thought of Elton Johns' song, Tiny dancer and realised that the hands from
You are not alone would also work well for my design.
would work really well with my design. And as it was a birthday card of course I used the great birthday sentiment from
I really like the drama of red and black cards so this was my colour theme and this is what I got up to.
 I used the above oxides to create any inky background on watercolour card.
I added some background stamping using the "ripped tights" stamp from meshellaneous

I stamped my ballet dancer onto a background with some music from the music speaks stamp set, and red stars from rock out adding a red bow to her tutu.
I stamped and fussy cut out the hands to hold the birthday sentiment. I stamped and cut out some of the ballet shoes in red and black and also die cut some 3D flourishes in red and black card using a Tim Holtz die.
Here is my finished card.

and one last shot;
