My final Tim card for 2016

The year really is racing away now and I have finished my final Tim Card for 2016. This year Tim's tags have all been remix tags of 2 techniques he has shared from the past tags series. I have managed to join in every month and made 12 cards instead of the 12 tags he made.

Here is a collage with snippets of all my entries this year. I always enjoy seeing them all together as I don't keep these cards. They are given as special cards to my friends and family during the year.

You can see Tim's December tag and methods over on his blog here and this is his tag

As often happens I don't own most  some of the products he used. I used a diecut sentiment instead of a shadow press one. As Tim reminds us we need to make our projects our own
and just use his take as inspiration 😃

I sprayed distress ink through my star stencil onto my hessian to make my background.

I made little tiles/stamps from epehemera, stamps and die cuts. The postage stamp in an old Whimsy stamp and die.

I used his holiday greens dies to make some holly and fir trimmings. Below is my December entry in close up, the eagle eyed of you will have already spotted it in my collage.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tim for all his hard work, inspiration and endless creativity. His is one of my favourite challenges and I really hope that he continues it in 2017.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 December.

Life on the ponds

Thanks for all your lovely comments on swan pairing post. I spotted the reunited the love birds on my  last walk down to Dotty's. The cygnets were probably on the island as I couldn't see them and was in a bit of a hurry to go looking for them.

The swan pair are really sociable and followed me as I walked along the pathway.

Such majestic birds.
We also have a very friendly heron at the ponds and he was up out of the water quite happy to pose for some photos.

I have managed to get my November Tim Tag inspirations card made and decided again to make a Christmas card. Below is his tag and you can read his step by step on his blog here
I made a remnant rub resist background using festive remnant rubs.

I then used some distress stains, including metallics to create my background. I added some vintage photo ink to the edges and distressed them.

I also stamped, coloured, textured and fussy cut out my my TH snowman using distress pens.

It was then time to assemble my card. I really like this one and I have squirrelled it away for my darling Hb for his Christmas card as I think he might like this one.😊
I added a holly brad, a die cut and a glittered shadow. I don't own any of Tim's thinlet letters so I left my card as it is...and actually I didn't want to cover any of my snowman up.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 November
Christmas at sweet stampin 2/2 anything goes
The Ribbon Girl 1/3 use any image

Jane's Journal's card version of Tim's tags 2016, October

There are just 3 more tags left for this year in Tim's great 2016 "mixed up" challenge. This month again he used products which I don't own so again I really went off on my own jolly but used all his techniques. Here is Tim's tag.

I am still building up my stock to sell at Dotty's Teahouse this Christmas so again I have made a Jane's Journal Christmas card version of Tim's tag.

I used his rustic lantern die and added aluminium strip to make it look metallic.  I added my own "nuts" and "bolts"  too using some cake decorating tools and punches as embossing tools.

I added black acrylic paint, which I removed most of, to give a rusted effect. I left out the centre of the lamp as I wanted more of the background to show through. I added vellum for a misty vintage feel.

My collage background was made with snippets of Christmas paper. Everything was stuck down with and coated with Distress crazing medium.

Here is my background.

I don't own any distress crayons so I gave some depth to my background using black oil pastel which I smudged with my fingers.

It was then time to put my card together and this is what I came up with.
I added  some Cheery Lynn and MB die cuts. My sentiment is by Tim Holtz.

I added some DecoArt snow and Glamour Dust to give a snowy effect.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 October
Pixie's Snippets playground #251 I used lots snippets of paper for my collaged background, it's a great way for using them up. I also used snippets of card for my sentiment and die cuts and a snippet of leather for my bow ;0)
Noor UK CAS or fully loaded Mine is of course fully loaded ;0)
Card Mania  1/3 let it shine
Christmas card challenges #45 anything goes
Simon says stamp Monday explore the world my inspiration is from the North pole...the snow is deep and this little lamp would help with finding your way in an unknown land....

Thanks so much for visiting me here today and for the sweet comments you  take the time to leave. I really appreciate your blogging friendship and kindness.

New life in my garden

Again it has been a wonderful mostly sunny autumnal week, no hint of anything wintry. I took advantage of the weather to empty out a few pots of spent summer bedding and bought these beauties to plant.
Out came the bucket
and my pots got a good clean up
I popped in my bulbs to sleep and topped the pots with some winter flowering violas and primula for some colour during the coming months.

I have been back to Christmas card creating this week and I have managed to keep up with Linda's great 12 tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style challenge and I now have card number 2 in the bag.

If you would like to play along please check out her post here which gives all the details of the challenge requirements. The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique and you could even win one of the prize vouchers if you enter every week and complete all 12 tasks.
So on to my #2 Christmas card; this is what I got up to.

Linda's tag 2 can be seen here.
I took for my inspiration for my card the neutral background colours she used. the pine trees, the red stencilled border. the red and white baker's twine and the deer...however rather than using the deer as  a little accent I used mine as a part of my focal.

I used these 2 DIs for my neutral background

I used my holiday knit stencil to add a patterned border

and repeated the pattern across the top and bottom of my card.

I then gathered my stamped elements together. The stamped deer and trees are all by Tim Holtz. The trees are a Framelits set but I fussy cut the deer.
and here is my finished card.
It has been added to my Dotty's Christmas event stash for selling on 2 December.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

12 tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style week 2
Pixie's Snippets playground #250 I used snippets of card for my tree, deer, sentiments and a snippet of Baker's twine too.
The Ribbon Girl 2/3 October any card
The Artistic Stamper 1/3 patterns
Cute card 2/3 Thursdays anything goes
ABC Christmas T for Two my 2 is 2 patterned borders (top and bottom of my card)
Frilly and Funkie author author The book and author I had in mind for my card was The Snow child by Eowyn Ivy...if you have never heard of this book it should be on your must read Christmas book list....it is set in the forests of Alaska and is simply magical. I can imagine my card being set there.
Fashionable stamping trees

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 September..Jane's Journal card style

Phew what steaming weather we have enjoyed for the last few days here in the South. We're up to number 9 of  Tim's 12 tags and I must confess that although very clever technique wise, it was not one of my favourite of Tim's projects. He shared this technique in Creative Chemistry 103 so I had seen it in the summer.
Here is Tim's tag.
Yet again I struggled to find suitable stamps in my stash. I also only have bright coloured alcohol inks so I  decided to make a Christmas card. I need lots of stock for Dotty's as well as cards for my personal use this year. I went very off piste this month as I don't have many really solid stamps like Tim's man silhouette. I used my old trusty Visible Image Merry Christmas stamp as  I thought it might work with this technique.
You will need to look at Tim's Blog here for the step by step but below is my version of the alcohol ink resist on Yupo paper. After getting the resist I decided to add a border of inks to my sentiment. I wanted a more floral organic feel rather than Tim's very masculine one.

I made a distress paint patina background
and then added some more festive colours.

I then put everything together and below is my completed card.

I added a Cheery Lynn sleigh and holly sprig die cut and pink (yes very un me) holly berry gems and a little ribbon to finish everything off.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges.

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 September
Simon Says Stamp Monday At the movies My Movie is Santa Claus the Movie
We love to create 2/2  anything mixed media goes
Penny Black and More 2/3  add a sentiment

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 August, Jane's Journal card style

It's number 8 of 12 today and Tim has combined 2 techniques again on his August tag...brayerd inks and frameworks.
This is Tim's tag.

I decided to use make a male card version.

I really enjoyed the brayered distress stains and made a cool background.

I don't have any frameworks dies but I used my Spellbinders frame die which I have had for years and works just as well.

I die cut a piece of grungeboard and some extra textures to use to replace the tile pieces.  I added some stamping and colour to my frames. I gave my new world die an airing and die cut it in black card.

Then it was time to put on my creative hat..............and here is Jane's Journal's card version of Tim's tag. The car is stamped, embossed and fussy cut out. I added a birthday sentiment as this one has gone down to Dotty's.
and a close up
