Afternoon tea anyone?

 Hi everyone, and welcome to my latest design team make for Visible Image. The theme for our makes this week is "friendship".

My favourite beverage is tea and the blacker the better. There is nothing quite like catching up with my friends over a cuppa and indulging in a slice of cake with it, is even better.  I decided make a card using  the Afternoon tea set with the  Splash stencil. This stamp set is full of fun tea and cake themed images, there is even a fork and a tea bag. The sentiments it contains are delightful too.

This is how I made it;

I cut a piece of smooth white card to a 5 1/4" square and blended salvaged patina, squeezed lemonade and worn lipstick distress inks onto it. Then I added some drips of water, blotted and dried the background with a heat gun (or you can leave it to air dry).

Using the Splash stencil I blended the same 3 inks through the stencil onto the background.

This is how it looked after adding the extra inks.

Once dry I stamped my design, for placement on the background. I used Versafine clair nocturne ink and clear heat embossed everything.

I stamped the teapot and cup again onto red card and the knife onto silver and cut them out.

The cake was stamped twice onto inky mop up card and cut out.

I cut out just the cake from the top image and stuck it over the "blue" cake. I added some glitter pen to create the "jam" and "cream".

I cut out the the fork too and added some white pen detailing to the cup, teapot and plate.

I then adhered these images over those on the background.

I stamped the sentiments onto white card, cut around them.

and stuck them in place.

I also added some stickles glitter glue to the cake icing for some extra sparkle.

Here it is finished;

The above friendship card, for me, is worth the effort of the extra decoupaged detailing, but I also made this non decoupaged version below which I just coloured directly with watercolour pencils. So if you would like to make a quicker version you can. Simply stamp the background with the design I have shared and colour using your favourite medium.

This is fun card to send to a friend who you might not have seen for a while and need to catch up with...over a cuppa! And of course a slice of cake would make that date extra special.

Getting my spook on for Visible Image

 Hello everyone it's time for my fortnightly blogged design team post for Visible Image.

We are just 10 days away from the start of autumn and of course that also means that the "Spooky Season" is coming soon  My grandchildren have turned me from someone who hid on Halloween from the Trick or Treaters to someone who decorates the porch, lights a pumpkin and greats them now with sweets and a huge smile. I honestly love Halloween and last year ran out of sweets as we had some many callers at our door.

So I thought today would be a good time to get you thinking about some fun Halloween makes.

Boo!

I used the following products;

with one of the fun sentiments from  Happy Halloween

This is how I made my card.

I used a piece of inked card from my stash.
 This one was made using lumberjack plaid, scorched timber and lost shadow distress inks. I pressed them onto my craft sheet, added water and dipped in my card. By drying between the layers I was able to achieve this look. I then blended on a little extra scorched timber to add some spooky dark  areas.

 I placed the skull shadow stencil near the top and blended black soot distress ink through the eyes and mouth and a little way around the skull.

I stamped the Trick or treat sentiment from Happy Halloween onto scraps of white card in black ink and distressed the edges with a distressing tool. I did the same to the edges of the card. I edged the sentiments with candied apple distress ink allowing it to get messy with my fingerprints as this all adds to the fun Halloween look.

I stuck the sentiments in place. Next I used a pipette and sucked up some ink from a bottle of candied apple spray stain. I then applied the ink as dripping "blood" from the underside of the sentiments and around the skull.

I left the stain to dry overnight and then cut  my card down to 4 1/2 by 6 1/2" . I matted it onto red glitter paper and then onto a black card blank.

Here it is again

with a close up

and I final photo.

I hope my card wasn't too ghoulish for you. You can obviously leave the dripping blood off if you prefer but for me the more Hammer Horror the better!

A dragonfly day for Visible Image

 Hi everyone and welcome to my fortnightly blogged design team post for Visible Image. The Summer solstice tomorrow and is officially the first day of summer. For today's make I thought I would share a very summery card; evocative of the long hot summer day's I am still hoping we will enjoy. The last few days have warmed up nicely and I recently saw some dragonflies around the pond in my son's garden. They are such magical creatures.

 To make my card I used all the stamps in the beautiful Live in the moment stamp set.

This set is a perfect for summer cards and projects and the sentiment reminds us to make the most of these long summer evenings and warm days we will hopefully enjoy. I also used the uber versatile

Lava stencil.

 I have used this stencil for so many themes; from alien planets and clouds to shadows on the moon. This time I have used it for the reflection on the water.  I used a rectangle  of white smooth card.

First I stamped the sentiment using Nocturne Versafine Clair ink (used for all the black stamping on this card) and clear embossed it. Then I blended these 3 distress inks through the stencil onto parts of the card.

I placed the stencil in different places around the sentiment.

In the bottom right hand corner I stamped the large dragonfly and clear heat embossed it.

I stamped one medium and 3 small dragonflies in the same way above the sentiment.

I stamped the ripples stamps in the set using Warm Breeze Versafine Clair blue ink and then added some sparkle to the wings using a pink glitter brush pen.

Lastly I added some of my signature sequins as a finishing touch. I matted onto blue card and then a white card blank.

Here are a couple of close ups

and one final shot.

A Visible Image golden wedding.

Hi everyone and welcome to my fortnightly blogged design team post for Visible Image. We are now heading into a hopefully, flaming June, and the beginning of summer. Summer is popular time of the year to get married and to celebrate wedding anniversaries.  My card today has been made for the golden wedding anniversary of my son in law's parents.   Yes 50 years of marriage. (My husband and I are not far off as we celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary next month). This is the special card I made for them. As such It has lots of extra details. Obviously you could scale these down and use the basic design to make something similar.

I used the following Visible Image products;

Anyone for Anyone for bubbles? stamp set

with their coordinating dieswith their coordinating dies

and the anniversary sentiment from

Plus for the background the Bubbles and fizz

and the "Heart ink" stencil.

This is how I made my card.

 I cut a piece of white smooth card 4 1/2" by 7 1/4". I sprayed a little squeezed lemonade distress stain spray and added a mist of water then dried using a heat tool (or leave to dry).

Using the Bubbles and fizz stencil I added some colour using the 3 distress ink pads shown below with a round foam blending tool.

I die cut a "50" using gold card with the balloons dies.

Next I placed the heart ink stencil near the top of the card and blended through wild honey distress ink.

I stamped the "fizz" stamp inside the heart using Morning mist Versafine Clair ink.

I stamped the bottle onto green card using Nocturne Versafine Clair. I repeat stamped the image onto white and gold card and cut out the elements as seen below. I then "decoupaged" them onto the green bottle.

I also stamped the glasses using Nocturne Versafine Clair ink and coloured them using antique linen distress ink applied with a paintbrush. I stamped a few bubbles inside the glasses. I stamped the Congratulations and Happy anniversary sentiments at the top and bottom of the card and clear heat embossed them. I then adhered the bottle and glasses in place and added some gold pen detailing.
For some extra dimension and shine I added Glossy accents to the glasses and some dots of it inside the heart. When dry I matted onto gold then black card and finally onto a white card blank cut from an A4 sheet of card.

For a finishing touch I added some of my signature sequins.
