Under the water stenciling for Country View Challenges

 Hello it's time for my 2nd design team make for Country View. For this month's challenge we would like to see you use a stencil (or 2) on your make.

As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies here.

I wanted to get out my art journal this time and take myself away to the seaside (well in my head anyway). I do hope we can get back here later this year....our beloved Rhodes.

I knew just the stencil I wanted to use to take me back to the beach. I have linked some of the products I used to the CVC website. This is what I got up to;
I sprayed my pages with salty ocean distress stain spray.

Using  cracked pistachio and  salty ocean distress ink I stencilled waves suing the awesome Visible Image Fibres stencil
I stamped the seahorse from Create your calm first in my journal and then onto inky mop up card. I cut out the main body of the orange one. I stamped the sentiment from the set too onto my left hand page.
The Mythical mermaid set has some gorgeous waves and bubble stamps in it so I added those to the pages.

and also lots of the little element stamps from The Mythical mermaid set including the dolphins.
I also die cut some seaweed using Tim Holtz' Festive greenery (as you do!) as well as some other sea theme elements you will see in my final photos.

It was then time to put my pages together. Here they are;

and one final shot;
I hope I may have inspired you to join in with our July "use a stencil (or 2)" challenge. You can use any stamps/products, the choice is yours.
You can enter our challenge as many times as you like and combine with other challenges. There is also a £20 crafting voucher up for grabs to the lucky randomly selected winner to spend over on the Country View Crafts on line store. Once again all the details for the July challenge can be found here.

Susan has recently had a restock the awesome Visible Image stencils and stamps you can see them all here.  Remember that UK postage and packing from CVC is free on all orders over £7.50!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

I would love to see you over on Instagram where I share new creative makes nearly every day. This is my link/profile @jane.tyrrell

A moment for Jane's Journal

Hello it's time for my fortnightly blogged Visible Image design team post. Today I am sharing a "Moment" I have made for one of my physical journals "Jane's Journal". These are art journals which document many  of my life events and I haven't made one for a long time. In April I celebrated my 60th birthday. I had thought it would be very low key with just my Hb and I going to RHS Wisley Gardens in Surrey. It was at the very beginning of life and places opening  up a little more after the 2nd Lockdown. Little did I know when we arrived at Wisley that not only would my daughter (who I had not seen for over 5 months) appear bearing birthday cupcakes but my son too, and they had been hatching this plan for months. It was just the best and most carefully orchestrated surprise and I was blown away (and yes I did shed a few tears of sheer joy!)

It really was the best of times and I needed to document it in my art forever.  The cherry blossom was in full bloom and the sun shone on us.

The magnolia was stunning and there was blossom everywhere. Both my children are avid gardeners and it was such a pleasure to walk around, admire Mother Nature in all her glory and chat.

I decided to choose the photo for my Moment which was taken when I first saw my children and we went inside the grounds. There is one with me
but I wanted to use this one below,  with my Hb...my 3 most important people.
I cropped it down a little and then printed it out on my home computer.
The VI products I used for my page were;
Ink swirls stencil
and 4 very apt stamp sets.
plus the memories sentiment from Express yourself
Here's what I got up to.
I added a light spray of distress ink to a sheet of water colour card
I then added some stenciling using the fab Ink swirls stencil and kitsch flamingo and worn lipstick distress oxide inks.
I added it fairly randomly all over the page.
Next I stamped my son and daughter definitions stamps  into the top right and bottom left of the page.
I made a frame for my photo using alcohol inks and Yupo.
I die cut a rectangle from the Yupo and stuck my photo underneath.
I stamped the  gorgeous memories sentiment from Express yourself under where the photo would be.

 You can see this in the final photos. Then I added some more stamping to the edges of my page and behind the frame using the Where flowers bloom set.
I purposely stamped using Versafine Clair ink so that the stencil showed through the stamping. If you don't like this effect you would need to use Archival or another oil based ink which is more opaque. Or you could use a pure dye based ink like regular distress for the stenciling.
I also stamped and cut out a couple of the smaller flowers from  Where flowers bloom  using a scrap of card coloured using Brushos.
Then it was time to assemble my page.
Here it is;
with a couple of close ups;

and one final shot.
We have not been together with our children like this on a day out since they young and still lived at home. It really was a very special day and it lives on in Jane's Journal.

Feeling hot, hot, hot, with Visible Image

Hello it's time for my fortnightly blogged Visible Image design team post. Today I am sharing my latest Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) made for the current July swap over on our group Facebook page. This is the link;  If you like trading ATCs I highly recommend you come over and join us. This was the sign up photo for July. I will be launching the August one in the next few weeks

 So far 63 Visible Image fans, worldwide, have taken part. Some of the design team (including myself) and even Helen and Mark Alexander (Mr and Mrs Visible Image) have also take part. The theme this month is "feeling hot, hot, hot" so I wanted to see hot colours, perhaps summer but it could even have a flames theme to it. For my own ATCs (the swap is for 1 ATC but I always make 4 as I also keep one, give one to my granddaughter and swap one elsewhere) I decided to use shades of orange and yellow for my hot colours and I thought it fun to make a "hot" Cheshire cat. Yes my imagination really does run wild at times. I also wanted to stamp the words hot, hot, hot as there  is a song by that name. Does anyone else remember the 1980s song, "Feeling hot, hot, hot by Arrow? I even listened to it on You Tube as I sat in my studio and made my ATCs

 I worked with these 2 stamp sets.

The Cheshire cat (I just love this set, he is the most gorgeous Wonderland cat)

and
Alphabetical (to stamp my words)
To make my "hot" background I got out my mustard seed and crackling campfire distress stains and my squeezed lemonade oxide sprays and made this background. I used heavyweight smooth card.  Obviously I added some water too and allowed the inks to move and the oxidation to occur.
I then cut four 3 1/2 by 2 1/2" ATCs from this piece of card.
I like to make all 4 of my ATCs slightly different but staying within a main design.
 I stamped the fun fishbone from the The Cheshire cat and the word "hot" from Alphabetical using archival inks.
There is also a circle in Alphabetical and I used this as a sun.
I stamped, coloured with Zig pens and cut out 4 Cheshire cats
I then positioned my Cheshire cats and trimmed their tails.
The final touch was some Glossy accents to the eyes and teeth. These photos above are a little dark as they were taken as I made them in shade of my studio.
So here they are finished and photographed in daylight;
 With a close up of each

and one final shot.
I think Mr Cheshire cat is feeling Hot Hot Hot under all that fur!
These were such fun to make and I am already looking forward to organizing the August swap.
