Dreams of sunshine birthdays with Visible Image

Good morning it's time for my fortnightly design team post for Visible Image. For today's make I was inspired by my upcoming "not going to happen big birthday plans". I have a big birthday coming up on Thursday and all the plans we made a few years ago have gone out of the window courtesy of Mr Corona.

We had planned a celebratory trip and a lovely meal out .

This is a distant memory of a meal out in our beloved Rhodes 2 years ago.

but as that is not going to happen I created an imaginary "sunshine holiday" birthday on a canvas. A girl can still dream can't she?  Confused....well that's how my creative brain works. All will be revealed....

I worked with these sets;

the birthday sentiment from Lost for words

and the Count me in stencil
This is what I got up to;
I added drops of picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade and crackling campfire distress reinker to a rectangle of water colour card and added water using my distress sprayer.
Once dry I added these distress inks through  the Count me in stencil

I also machine stitched around the edge of the card.
Next I created a circle frame for my flowers using 3 die cut scallop circle edges.
I stamped the flowers from
Random art of kindness onto inky mop up card and cut them out. I decoupaged the centers of the circular ones and adding glitter pen details to them all for extra sparkle.
I then glued them around the circle frame.
I stamped the birthday sentiment onto card and stitched a border. I also did this to a coloured card mat and stuck them together.
I glued this into the centre of the floral circle.
I made a corrugate card base for my canvas by adding a little red ink and then some embossing powders to it for extra detail and texture.
I ripped off some of the covering and used a brush to add embossing ink to areas around the visible edges only. I sprinkled in the powders and heat embossed them from underneath.
Then I matted the finished canvas onto blue card, adhered it to the base and added sprinkle of sequins to finish.

Job done....

Here it is...you might need sun glasses!
with some close ups showing the details.

and one last shot of my Calypso birthday canvas.

My Hb and I will obviously not be donning our sunglasses on Thursday and lapping up the sunshine in a tropical hideaway. We will still enjoy a little celebration at home ....and a bottle of champagne is going in the fridge to chill.

The only upside of all this is we that don't have to share it with anyone!!!! Cheers!

I will be back here on my birthday, as of course being the first of the month I also have my other 2 DT's hats to put on. Time and tide eh!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Eye contact

Good morning, unbelievably we find ourselves past the longest day and in the last week of June. Summer has finally arrived and I intend to make the most of every single second. The weather is just perfect.  I adore being able to be outside in my garden and also to be able to craft in my garden studio. From my studio I can hear the birds sings, the bees humming and Billy can sit in the shade and watch me. My summer pots are just bursting with glorious colour.

It's also time for my Monday DT make for Visible Image and I decided that I would have a play with the awesome Eye contact stencil.
plus some words from the fab Voices in your head sentiment set.

I have always loved all the Face and Eye stamps that Mark has designed and I was thrilled to see that in the new release he brought out an eye stencil too.
I hadn't played with my Bister and Infusions for a while so I make a background first using watercolour card. I started with a little....
and just added different colours until I was happy with my background.
I used black sparkle medium through the stencil, below is when it is wet...

but once dry it  has an awesome sparkle below). I painted the white part of the eye in using white acrylic paint.

I also added glossy accents to the iris (which you can see in the final photos).
I stamped 2 sentiments from the Voices in your head stamp set and then matted up my plaque.

Here are some close ups

Slashed canvas and sunshine

I had a fun crafty Sunday at the Craft Barn a couple of weeks ago. Darcy of PaperArtsy ran the workshop and we were kept busy for the whole day with lots of lovely techniques to add to our slashed canvas we made.
First we made decorated the inside as this would be the outside part of our canvas once it was slashed. We used fresco paints for everything.
We made an inside panel ready for our little garden scene.

Then we decorated the outside and left it to dry for the lunch break.

Drying off at lunch time, the lull before the storm.....

Darcy is a great teacher and a very sweet person. She bought lots of samples of her work to show too including her fab new Christmas stamps
After lunch it was non stop until we looked up at the clock and it was 4 o'clock. My Hb was kind enough to drive me and pick me up as I am still not able to drive but my wrist is getting much better.

and then the finishing including slashing the canvas.
and lots of fussy cutting

I finished mine off at home and added a couple of my own tweaks...below is my finished slashed canvas which has pride of place in the dining room up next to the the bloom and grow canvas I made with Brenda earlier this year.

and a couple of close ups.

I would like to enter my canvas into the following challenges;

The Artistic Stamper things with wings
Pixie's snippets playground 195  I used snippets of book pages for my little punched daisies and tulips.
The Mirror Crack'd tic tac toc/art shrine I have chose the right vertical line; 3d or 2d, canvas, textures
Simon says stamp Wednesday no designer paper

If Mr Blogger behaved this is actually a scheduled post and I am a long way away at the moment...................................
enjoying some Mythos and watching the sun set with my beloved Hb on holiday............................................there is a little interest access so I am going to try a crafting with a view post in the next few days.  Fingers crossed I can post it.

Sending sunshine.....................and some peace and quiet
