Visible Image friendship

Hi everyone, it's time for my next blogged design team make for Visible Image. The theme for our makes this week is "friendship" and I am using the Blooming Fabulous stamp set with the Atmospheric stencil from the new Love of Nature release. This stamp set is perfect for a friendship birthday card.

I started off with a blue distress ink background from my stash made with distress spray stains. I positioned the circles part of the stencil over the card and blended lumberjack plaid distress through it. I moved the stencil down and repeated.

Using the text stamp I added some extra interest to the background using lumberjack plaid and salty ocean distress ink.

I also stamped one of the sentiments in black at the top of the card.

To make the "flower" I stamped the bloom on white card using red ink and cut it out. I also stamped the best and friend words onto a scrap of white card and created a "stalk". I added some extra red ink detailing.

Using a button and twine I added a fun centre to the bloom and attached the "stalk"

To put my design together I glued the bloom onto the background, distressed the edges, matted it onto red card and then onto a white card blank.

Here is a close up of the bloom.

and one last shot of my card.

It was fun to turn the bloom into a whole flower for my card.  Adding the text stamping details also  creates a lovely background to show it off. This really is a special floral birthday card for a special best friend.

My 2nd design team make for The great outdoors

Hi everyone for this month I am the host for our latest challenge over in the Country View Crafts Facebook group. The theme I have chosen for July is "The great outdoors" so think, seaside, gardens, parks, flowers, summer insects, picnics etc. This is my second design team make for some inspiration.

You can enter the challenges up to 5 times as you like as long as you use products from brands which are stocked on the Country View Website.

I decided to use another of the new Tim Holtz A5 size 3D embossing folders for my background. This one is called Foundry.

I made an anniversary card for my husband for our 44th wedding anniversary on 25th July. Luckily he is not on social media so he won't see this ahead of our special day.

This is how I made my card. I swiped scorched timber distress oxide across the inside lid of the folder, added a sheet of Kraft card, ran it through my Sizzix and got this amazing wood effect.

I die cut some foliage using the vault floral wreathvault floristry and the hands from my old weathered clock die. I also chose a  paper doll from my stash.

Then I put my design together.

I added Stickles to the flowers.

I used a key hole brad from my stash and added a heart and Tim word sticker from his metallic sticker book.

I also added a few off cuts of the Foundry embossed card around the edge of my finished card and distressed the edges.  I used gold card for the base. Here is it once more.

I have linked the products I used which are available on the website within my post. If they are not in stock just email Susan, who should be able to order them in for you.

Enjoy the rest of the month.

When is a sunflower a dahlia?

Hi everyone, it's time for my next blogged design team make for Visible Image. We have been given free choice for this week so I thought I would make something summer garden inspired. I love dahlias, my granddad always grew them and there are now so many beautiful vibrant colours. I used the lovely Sunflower Grunge stamp set and transformed the sunflower into a dahlia. My granddad's dahlias were grown up against the garden wall so I also used the uber versatile Distressed Brick stencil to make this summery birthday card.

Photo 1

This is how I made it;

I taped the distressed brick stencil over a piece of square white smooth card.

Photo 2

Using worn lipstick and frayed burlap distress inks I blended the colours randomly through the stencil using a round blending tool.

Photo 3

I stamped the sunflower onto a scrap of white card using black Versafine Clair ink and clear heat embossed it. I then coloured the image using distress watercolour pencils. You don't need to be too precise as it is then cut out.

Photo 4

I stamped the sentiments into the gaps between the bricks and stamped the sunflower in place ready to adhere the cut out flower on top.

Photo 5

Below shows the cut out "dahlia" in place. For finishing touches I repeat stamped the little dots stamp and then added Stickles red glitter glue to the flower and randomly over the card.

I'm hoping I have shown you how easy it is transform the sunflower into a dahlia. You could make this in so many different colour ways too. And if you enclosed a gardening gift voucher inside it would make the perfect personalised Birthday present for a gardening friend.

The Great outdoors, my theme for our July CVC challenge

Hi everyone for this month I am the host for our latest challenge over in the Country View Crafts Facebook group. The theme I have chosen for July is "The great outdoors" so think, seaside, gardens, parks, flowers, summer insects, picnics etc. You don't need a blog or an Instagram account, just head over to the group and join in with the fun! You can enter the challenges up to 5 times as you like as long as you use products from brands which are stocked on the Country View Website.

For my first design team make I made this garden inspired thank you card.

I am IN LOVE with the Tim Holtz new A5 vault embossing folders and bought all of them. Susan has them and others in stock on the CVC website here. For this make I used the Botanical folder.
I used a piece of distress inked card from my stash

I swiped the inside of the folder with mowed lawn distress oxide

and ran it through my Switch.

I made lots of other backgrounds too, it's an amazing folder.

I die cut Tim's detailed butterflies using yupo coloured with alcohol inks.

I also die cut some flowers and one of the cute notebooks.

I coloured the flowers with distress inks.

I then put my design together. The Thank you is one of Tim's label stickers. Here is my finished card again

with a couple of close ups

More travel inspiration for Country View Challenges

Hi everyone I am here today with my 2nd design team make to hopefully inspire you to join our June challenge. The theme this month is to share your projects which are "travel" related." You don't need a blog or an Instagram account, just head over to the group and join in with the fun! You can enter the challenges up to 5 times as you like as long as you use products from brands which are stocked on the Country View Website.

For this card I used the brilliant Tim Holtz vault airmail multi level embossing folder again for the background but I made a very different card. If you missed my first make using this you can find it here.

Here is my card

and this is how I made it;
I made several backgrounds using Tim's folder

and selected the one below to use. I used Mown lawn distress oxide swiped onto the folder and then tea dye distress ink brayed over the raised part afterwards.

I stamped elements from the Visible Image "You're a classic" stamp set using Versfine clair nocture and clear heat embossed.

I cut everything out and distressed the edges of the sentiments.

I added some gold and glitter pen detailing.

I then assembled everything adding a few extra die cuts which were lying on my desk. I used a kraft card blank to mount it on.

I have linked the products I used which are available on the website within my post. If they are not in stock just email Susan, who should be able to order them in for you.
