Funkie Junkie's 3rd tag of Christmas - with a Jane's Journal twist.

I have nearly managed to get up to date with my 12 tags for Christmas projects and managed to get #3 and #4 made on Saturday. Today I showing my #3 project. Click this link to see the inspiration tag over at The Funkie Junkie. There is still time to play along and it is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie on line store with some great prizes for the lucky winners.  The inspiration that I took from Linda's tag was the silhouette stamp, the stars are the colours. Here is my card

I made my backing card with a combination of Vintage photo, walnut stain and antique linen distress inks.

I remembered that I have some ancient silhouette Christmas wooden rubber stamps in my stash which are some of my oldest stamps. I stamped them using Versafine Black Onyx ink. Here are those sweet stamps in close up.

 I wanted to keep this card quite CAS (clean and simple) so I stamped some shooting stars using some stamps from my LOTV grunge Christmas postmarks set and set the centres with gold coloured star gems.

The sentiment is one of my newest dies from Cheery Lynn.

Crafts to Challenge you Christmas Festivities and what it means to me. My card makes me think of singing away in a manager at all the nativity plays which not only I took part in as a young child but my own children did too. I was always the angel Gabriel and my Dad made me amazing wings. My daughter was Mary once, something I never achieved and my dear son was always a shepherd with the obligatory tea towel head piece. Ahh such sweet memories.

I hope you are all enjoying  your weekend? I have to spend today at a course for work (I have scheduled this card to post and I will link up the challenges when I get home). To make up for it I have tomorrow off work to meet up with my 37+ weeks pregnant daughter. We plan to have a girlie day together, unless of course our soon to be born grandbaby has other ideas ;0) (Now that is a joke, we need to get at least 1 more week down the line, now that's Nana talking ;0)

Funkie Junkie's 2nd tag of Christmas with a Jane's Journal twist

I'm back with the 2nd of my Christmas themed cards inspired by the tags made by Linda of the Funkie Junkie Blog  sponsored by The Funkie Junkie on line store  Do pop on over to join in the fun. If you click on the blog  link you can see her great inspiration tag for week 2. It features a golden reindeer and I decided to use this as the inspiration for my Christmas card. I also liked the vintage looking stamp on her tag and the colours she used.
 Here is my finished piece.

It was really hard to get a good photo as the gold reflected so much!

My reindeer is a Memory Box die and the trees are Marianne. I cut them out from a Felix cat food box as I wanted them to be a little thicker than my normal card. I embossed them twice with gold embossing power for a thicker layer and whist still hot I pressed in a script stamp. This left behind the detail.

I used Pumice stone and antique linen TH distress ink and blended the backing card.

 When dry I stamped my Stampendous Snowy Postcard stamp using Vintage photo Distress ink as I wanted a subtle suggestion of the cottage in the background. I wanted to give the impression of a little hamlet in the snow getting ready to trim their trees.

I added some Shabby White Frantage for a snowy effect and the snowflakes are Cheery Lynn.

Crafts to Challenge you Christmas festivities, twist 2 what Christmas means to me I just love buying the tree at Christmas. We always have a real pine one.  This little scene makes me think of years gone by when it has snowed and we have had to drag it home. When I was small we did not have a car so everything was bought locally. I can almost smell the memories of pine and crisp white snow. I really so love Christmas..only 68 days to go.

A wet day at the races

What a difference in the weather for our trip to Goodwood on Sunday. It was a world away from our visit in the summer when it was the hottest day of the year and we had to keep hiding from the sun. This time we were hiding from the torrential rain and the biting wind. We took a Thermos of hot tea to eat with our packed lunch but still felt so chilly despite wrapping up in coats and scarves.Despite the inclement weather we had a really great time again.

The course still looked so beautiful but there was a mist over the hills and as the afternoon progressed the mist sank deeper and deeper.

We still saw some exciting racing but the amount of mud kicked up was incredible

We also visited the viewing paddock to see these gorgeous racing horses before the race. They had coats on to keep them dry until the jockeys mounted them.

The rain drove so hard that it even penetrated until the viewing canopies, brollies were everywhere.

At this point I am sure you are asking, did I have another lucky streak....well I certainly did!

My Hb's cold hands are holding up this beauty....I chose a winner, Harry Hunt (what a fab name for a horse) for the very first race and I received no less than £82 from my bet!! My Hb also got a 1st and we both got a 3rd place so we came away smiling after such a cold day. We will return to Goodwood  but definitely in the summer next time.

So this chilly weather means another Christmas card for my  challenge card today. I wanted to include an animal and I don't have any horse themed Christmas stamps (LOL) I then remembered one a stamp that I have not even inked up yet which I bought at Ally Pally earlier this year. It features a bird and it made me think of the bedraggled birds we saw driving through the countryside on Sunday...we even saw some pheasants which leapt out of the hedgerows!  This is my Minuet Bird stamp by Stampendous. I have used Kraft card as my backing paper and used my Sepia and White Primacolor pencils to colour the image. I blended them a little with Sansador.

I used a piercing ruler to "faux" stitch around the edge and then used a silver maker pen to show the "stitching". The die cuts candles are Marianne, the holly leaves Cheery Lynn and the tags are LOTV. Very CAS (Clean and simple) for me I know but I am really enjoying experimenting with lots of different styles.
