Use a stencil for the July Country View Challenge

 Happy July all, wow another month has flown by and summer is finally in full swing. The weather has been rather hit and miss recently but let's hope warm, sunny days like this are ahead.

For this month's challenge we would like to see you use a stencil (or 2) on your make.

This is what I got up to;

I used the brilliant Visible Image Tea party stencil on one of my distress re inker shaving foam backgrounds from my stash. This stencil works perfectly with the Wonderland stamps.

I taped it down and applied distress inks through the stencil.

To leave this colourful background. 

I stamped, coloured and cut out the fab Visible Image Cheshire cat. I just love this stamp. I have coloured this cat in so many colourways. Today I went quite traditional. 

I die cut my very old tea cup and saucer

and stamped these words from the Visible Image, "Stay stronger" sentiment set. I thought it was a perfect match for my smiling Cheshire cat. There are lots of lovely sentiments in this set.

I then put everything together with some stars for finishing touches. Here is my finished card

I used my gorgeous bundle to make 2 cards;

Card 1; This is what I got up to; For my first make I used one of my distress ink shaving foam marbled backgrounds from my stash. I stamped the lovely flower and sentiment and coloured the flowers using my Zig markers.

I also stamped the blooms only on some inky mop up card and used these to decoupage a couple of the bloom heads.

I then stamped the sentiment in place.  I also die cut some blue card using the cool new die and added it for a little edging. For a final touch I added some accents using glitter pens and a bow.

Card 2; For my second make I used another of my marbled backgrounds. I used the striped square from the design blox and added some distress ink. I repeated this over the background 

and then cut 4 squares out. I did one extra in case I needed it.

I stamped the celebrate you from the "See the good set" plus make a wish onto 2 of the squares and also 3 cupcakes from the Birthday bash stamp set onto inky mop up card. I cut the cupcakes out and added a little glitter pen as frosting.

I put the 4 squares together matching up the pattern onto pink card.

and stuck the cupcakes in place. 

I added some sequins as finishing touches. Here is my finished card

Memories of beach combing in the sunshine

 Over on Instagram ( @jane.tyrrell ) I have been sharing some process photos of a glass Tim Holtz display dome I am making. I bought some at Christmas and decided to make one for each season. I wanted to share my thought process behind my make so I decided to write a blog post. For my summer dome I wanted to save some memories of beach combing in the sunshine. It is one of my favourite pastimes on holidays especially in our beloved Rhodes. I wonder if we will be able to get there this year? Who knows. I love walking along the sandy beach looking at footsteps in the sand and finding shells and even the occasion treasure aka sea glass. 

These are the very cute domes.

I wanted to catch all the essence of these memories in a little 4" dome so I thought long and hard of how to do this. The first thing I did was to get out the jar of shells I keep in my studio. I keep special shells I have collected over the years, including some from the beach where my daughter lives on the South Coast which I have collected with Daisy.

As you can see there is sea glass there too.

I used my tiny Tim Holtz Sideorder dies and embossing folder and cut out some flips flops and "the sea", I also use spray inks to create the sand.

I used the bases of a few flip flops to make my footsteps in the sand,

I coloured some rock candy glitter with alcohol ink to use as sand under some "seaweed" I had also die cut.

I decided to use one of the larger shells I had collected with Daisy to hold the tiny shells and to make them look like they were in the sea using Glossy accents.

Here is everything before assembly. I love how the Glossy accents dry clear and sparkled like the sea. 

Then it was time to put everything together. Here is my finished summer globe. It was hard to photograph with the reflection from the glass. This is the front;

I made a spring themed one earlier this year which I shared on IG. This is the link Here they are on my shelf together. 

So now I have a spring globe to remind me of my sweet dino duck babies and especially Eric

and of sunny holidays and beach combing with my family.....sweet memories indeed.
