Christmas at Kew

What fun evening my Hb and I enjoyed last Friday up at Kew Gardens in London. There is a 1 mile trail laid out and all the trees are various displays are decorated with lights. We met before hand and enjoyed a meal in the city. We found a great diner in One New Change at St Paul's which had some local lagers on the menu.
The area around St.Paul's has been transformed recently, I love this area. The new fits in really well with the old.
We very rarely eat burgers or chips so this was a treat for us.
With delicious locally brewed later in a really fab can.

We hopped on the tube after our meal and  travelled to Kew Gardens station.
Kew Gardens tube station has a fab pub attached to it called The Tap on the Line...cool name eh?

The walk to the gardens was just a few minutes.

The trail is about a mile long and there are lots of pretty illuminations.

We really enjoyed the field of fire in particular. I shared some photos of that in a previous post here

Half way through there was also a vintage carousel.

I could not resist taking a ride. My Hb snapped this joyful shot....yes I know I am a big kid ;0)

It was such a fun, festive evening. The weather was very kind to us, mild and dry.

My Hb also snapped this shot which I just had to make into a moment for my journal....Guess who...?

When I got home I chose a full size paper from my stash....I think it's ancient Graphic 45.

I stencilled a few festive images using Wendy Vecchi gold embossing paste.
I wanted to tone down the page down slightly so I added some stamping using white acrylic paint.

I also used my new Tim embossing folder and plenty of glitter.
So here is my Moment of our evening at Kew.

I added some Frantage for some Christmas spirit and lots of sparkle.

I think my stamped sentiment says it all..........

I would like to enter my Moment into the following challenges;

I managed to get the last of my Christmas shopping on Thursday and that evening my Hb and I had a grand wrap up session and got everything wrapped. Today I plan to finish my final Funkie Junkie project and then it's time for my hand made Christmas crackers....yes we have reached that time of the year.

Enjoy your weekend, it's still ridiculously mild here in South East England we hit 17c on Thursday and I spied daffodils out in full flower in a garden round the corner. Here is the proof! This morning the back door is open, the central heating has been turned off, I have washing out on the line and it's 17c again....amazing.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (other than the weather)....just 6 days left now.

Back very soon,

Bye for now,

Jane x

Beautiful images from Kew, thanks for sharing. I'm loving all the traditional London images too, buses, tubes, St Pauls...I know I keep saying this but I really need a trip to London.
I am also loving this balmy weather too, I think we should have Moroccan Christmases every year !! ;)

  3. Hello dear Jane,

Loved every photo of this post, but that vintage carousel and that colorful peacock are to die for! And you seem so happy riding there :) And your moment captured it all again so beautifully.

But that weather?!? Daffodils? Oh my, enjoy it all, it is perfect for those long walks during holidays (to burn those chocho-calories!). We have little snow but we should hit +5 --- +10(!!) soon too. Strange December!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Yours,
    Mia

  4. What a fun excursion you and hb took! I enjoyed the photos. We watched a TV show last night about the Secrets of Chatsworth Castle.. and the greenhouse in your photo looks exactly like the one they had.. is it a reproduction of theirs?
