Ice cream and Gelatos

A couple of weekends ago we enjoyed a visit to the beach with Daisy and her Mummy and Daddy. This time our destination was Stoke's Bay and Pebble Beach. We had beautiful weather and Daisy loved picking up pebbles and putting them in her little bucket
The view across the bay is to our beloved Isle of Wight.
The light on the sea was really magical. My daughter and I sat and chatted on the beach mat and smiled watching Daisy pottering around with her Daddy and Granddad. She kept bringing things up to show us.

Her little red bucket and spade was bought last year on the Isle of Wight when we were all on holiday there.

Such a busy little soul.

We decided an ice cream was in order and en route we watched the kites flying.
Daisy is not yet a huge fan of ice cream but she likes the cone part so she had a non ice cream ice cream ;0)

The following week a package arrived which I had considered buying for a long time...yes Gelatos. These are big in the mixed media world and I have considered buying them for months. I found a good offer and bought this set of bright colours.
I scribbled some onto my art journal pages and then got rubbing and misting with water.

I added some white paint to soft gel to try to get the same shimmer on the waves we had seen at the beach. I rubbed this onto my pages with a palette knife,
I also made some drips to represent our ice creams melting in the sunshine
I die cut lots of shells and edged them with gold using a marker. I also die cut some Memory Box crabs in gold card.
Here are my finished pages. I added the red kite to represent the kites we saw and Daisy's red bucket.
I wrote my words with a micron pen.

Here are some close ups.

I would like to enter my art journal pages into the following challenges;

September has now arrived and I have noticed the trees are beginning to look very autumnal. Today is my non work day and I have some crafting planned as well as some other bits and bobs. I have started working on some autumnal pieces including something for a GD post coming up next week which has been such fun to make. Watch this space.

Can I give a very warm welcome to my newest followers. It's great to see you here. Thanks to everyone for all your kind visits and comments you take the time to leave and enjoy the end of the week.

Back soon,

Bye for now,

  1. Oh how Dayle and I loved seeing Daisy enjoy the seaside. She's just a darling little girl. No longer a baby! Time flies! I'm glad you're getting new followers. I haven't had a new one in FOREVER. It seems my follower counter is broken. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. More lovely photos of another fun filled family day and another beautiful journal page to remember it by! I love the way all your techniques have such meaning, reminding you of something special in the day and the finished result is so sunny (unlike our weather at the moment)!!
It is surprising how quickly the season has changed and there is a definite Autumnal feel to the air and the nights are starting to draw in rather sharpish! It was my little man's first day at high schoool today - I think I was more nervous than him - but he seemed to enjoy it, especially the dinner!?!
We are on the slippery slope towards Winter now and my mood has already started to wain - here's hoping we get some late sunshine! Hugs, Lisa x

  12. Aw, miss Daisy is so adorable. I still like markers. I was helping at our church's children's day out with crafts. There were markers I'd love to have. Do I really need them? Not really! I usually go for ones that are archival safe for photos and ones that will write on photos. By the sea card is lovely! Thanks for sharing!
