The first cut is the sweetest

As you may have spotted on Monday our sweet furry grandson came to stay at the weekend and he helped me in the garden. I was pleased to give my lawn its first cut...how amazing is that smell of freshly mown grass...wow it takes me back through my whole life...from childhood, right through to present times.

I'm not sure if you could really say that Bear "helped"....
He did a fair bit of broom chasing....
and gave no help with the sweeping up.
However who can get cross with the gorgeous boy
and he's rather photogenic isn't he 😍

So my lawn is now neat and tidy and all ready for spring.
I also have a garden of flowers indoors as well as outdoors with these gorgeous flowers my children sent me for Mother's day.
So my card to day had to be something bright and colourful.

The stamped sentiment is Lili of the Valley. I white embossed Tim Holtz' Lady Rose stamps and then added distress inks in a rainbow. The butterflies are Visible Image which I black embossed and fussy cut out. The greenery are Tim Holz greenery Thinlets.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

Frilly and Funkie 1/3 count me in....I like the way this birthday sentiment is in days...365 of them!
A Vintage Journey all aboard
Crafty friends B is for mine is butterflies
Crafty Card Makers spring into spring
Simon says stamp Monday things with wings
Simon says stamp Wednesday anything goes
Simon says stamp work it Wednesday 1/3 spring

The butterfly challenge R is for repeat/and or the night sky I have gone for repeat and night sky....you might have seen my night sky I shared on my last post...there was every colour of the rainbow there that night!

Thanks so much for visiting me and for taking the time to leave your kind comments. Enjoy the last few days of this week. The sunshine has disappeared today but we are promised one more sunny today tomorrow, fingers crossed.  I will be back on Saturday, as goodness me, it will be 1st April and time for my next Country View DT post!

Back soon,

Bye for now,

  3. Hi Jane, Let me tell you "BEAR" is one good looking dog!! I think Jack and Bear would be fast friends. I also have experience with how helpful pups can be with lawn work and shoveling, truly amazing!
Do hope you had a Happy Mother's Day, the flowers are fabulous! Once again beautiful sky photos and brilliant card, enjoy the sun tomorrow.

  4. Wonderful photos as usual Jane! Bear is utterly fabulous too. Len cut our grass yesterday and as you say, the first cut is the sweetest! He did make me laugh, we have a partly dead conifer in a huge pot that we really need to replace soon. It's now a jaunty shade of green again - he found a spray can of green paint in the shed! Not the first time he's done that trick - what a boy.

Love your card, a perfect entry for Mrs A's challenge (and the others of course) and that LOTV sentiment is one of my all time favourites!

    Hugs

    Di xx

  5. Good evening, Jane! I can't wait to give my lawn..well, more of a mossy, grassy, weedy patch of green...it's first cut of the season - though I'll have to order the new mower blade that I've been threatening to buy for the last 18 months! I think I could do a better job with a knife and fork than the last cut!
Nice to see Bear being a help in the garden - if nothing else, he looks pretty! As does your lovely, inky butterfly card with it's rainbow of colours! Hugs, Lisa xx

  17. We've yet to have our lawn mowed. It's been so wet from all the rain and Phil's been working on weekends so he's tired. Maybe I can get someone to mow it this weekend for me. I need to remember the neighbor that has a landscape business and see if he can do it. The dog is adorable and your flowers are so pretty. I have a couple tulips starting to open up and will need to photograph them tomorrow. Chilly days but a bit of sun which makes us all happy as it's been dreary and rainy far too long. Happy days!
