Final Creative Chemistry 103 homework and my giveaway winner

Hello and as promised this is my final piece of homework from Tim's Creative Chemistry 103. The wrap up day is tomorrow and everyone's homework has to be in by tonight.
It's the best  crafting $25 I have spent in a long time. He is a brilliant teacher and there is life long access to the course. That's win win in my books.

For my last piece of homework I made a card using backing made using his texture paste embossing technique.

This was my piece, I added some hot summer colours of distress ink again. The stencil is my TH lace stencil.

I stamped put my Lady Rose stamp again and hand water coloured her... I love this stamp.

I then die cut some MB and Cheery Lynn floral die cuts. I also added some rose stamping to the edges of the card.
I put on my creative hat and this is my finished card.

I love the way the embossing shines out as raised texture.
You will notice that I made this a thank you card....

This is a thank you to Tim for being such an inspiration as well as a kind, warm human being. I really like his style of teaching and I know I will never get to sit in a class of his myself so this has been the next best thing.

Tuscany and an inspired landscape piece for Creative Chemistry 103 homework

Class is not out until Friday over at Tim's online class...we are still submitting homework until tomorrow. I thought I would share some more of my Tuscany holiday photos, which got put on hold, whilst I have been working through Creative Chemistry 103.

I have already shared some photos from Sienna, a gorgeous city, so today I thought I would share a few more places we visited.

Pienza is a small, walled medieval city where the surrounding country side is so typically Tuscan.
The streets are narrow and full of wonderful shops hidden away in the walls.
The surrounding countryside is wonderful

We enjoyed our wedding anniversary lunch in San Gimignano, which we have visited in the past. It is much larger than Pienza and very beautiful. There is also award winning ice cream maker who sells there...their ice cream is beyond delicious.

Looking back through these photos and working with alcohol inks inspired this, my favourite piece of homework so far.....I made this card.... I can't share Tim's techniques but I used alcohol inks, Yupo and a straw to create a landscape...such fun. I mounted it on Kraft and added a sentiment....very apt I think!
and here is a side view.
Who would have thought I could create a landscape!
I would also like to link my card up to the following challenges;

That's Crafty 2/3 zesty zing
Pile it on  2/3 Make your own background
Craft Heaven Shop Challenge 2/3 #14 anything goes
Simon says work it Wednesday include the colour Peridot  I achieved this with my mix of greens inks in the left hand side of my card.

I still have my travel journal from Tuscany to finish...it has been quite a labour of love and I have been busy restocking Dotty's too with my cards.

I plan to draw my giveaway winner today and make my final piece of homework for Creative Chemistry 103. Thanks so much for sticking with me and coming back to see what I have made each day. I really appreciate your comments.

Back tomorrow.

Bye for now,

Day 6 homework for Creative Chemistry 103

Day 6 is the final day of Creative Chemistry 103 and it's been brilliant. For this lesson Tim talked about surfaces and substrates and our homework is to use one of the techniques we have learnt this week but present it on something other than a tag/card backing.

The only substrate I own is hessian so I got out my hessian and sprayed vintage photo distress spray through my flourish stencil to make this cool patterned background.

During Day 5 lesson I had made the piece below using the resist technique with Yupo and alcohol inks.  I love the embossed floral pattern that gets revealed.

I used a small piece for the centre of my project.

I then put on my creative hat and this is the card I created.

I would also like to link it up with the following challenges;

A vintage journey stencil it
Simon says stamps Wednesday fabulous florals
Take it make it stencils/masks
Paper Artsy patterns I made a repeat pattern on my hessian from the stencil and also in my embossed Yupo focal insert.
Craft Heaven Shop Challenge  #14 anything goes
Uniko flowers

Although there are no more classes in 103 the wrap up day is next week and we have until this Friday (12th) to upload any other pieces of homework,  there are some cool  prizes to be won. I will be sharing a few more with you, including I think, my favourite piece I made ;0)

I would also like to remind you that my 6th bloggerversary giveaway clsoes tomorrow at 5pm GMT. The details are up at the top of my side bar if you would like to enter. Everyone is most welcome.

Thanks for your visits and the very kind comments you have been leaving about my homework. Welcome also to my newest followers. It's so great to share my creative journey with you here at Jane's Journal. The weather at the weekend was glorious and yes it was Pimm's O'clock in the garden yesterday afternoon ;0)

Day 5 homework for Creative Chemistry 103

No I haven't lost the ability to count, I am posting homework for day 5 and not day 4. Day 4 of creative chemistry was all about Distress crayons but sadly I own none. I have learnt some cool techniques and will have to play when Santa, or someone else is good to me.

So day 5 is all about alcohol inks and yupo paper and OMGoodness what fun I have had with these. Luckily I own lots of both so I had some great play time. I have played with Yupo a while ago..if you missed that post have a look here
For my first piece of homework  I chose the alcohol ink stamped resist technique.
I chose some lovely sunny colours as it has been such a glorious sunny weekend. First I made a background
I chose the corner floral stamp from this set

and once I had used Tim's technique it looked like this...amazing how my stamp created the resist, almost a ghostly shadow.
So then it was time to put on my creative hat to do a "Jane's Journal and make my piece into a card.........I think these sunny photos from my holiday played a part.
The fields of sunflowers in Tuscany had reached their ripening stage but I still found a few in flower....an amazing sight.

So this is what I made, I just added this gorgeous MB frame and a simple TH sentiment on a Spellbinders element.
I really do love playing with Yupo and alcohol inks...I think this is my favourite day so far....there is only Day 6 left now.

I would also like to link my card up to the following challenges;

That's Crafty 1/3 zesty zing
Pixie's snippets playground #241 I used a snippet of card for my spellbinder element.
Simon says stamp Mondays celebrate
Memory box yellow
Pile it on Make your own background
Time Out holidays with optional twist of no stamping mine is hot summer holidays, walking out in the country in the sunshine...bliss. There is no stamping on my card so I got the twist too!

Thanks for popping in...I'm going back to my studio to finish off my other projects. I will share day 6 with your tomorrow. We saw Jason Bourne at the cinema last night...it was fabulous...action packed and real "Bourne"! Enjoy your evening, it might be Pimm's O'Clock here soon.....;0)

Back tomorrow,

Homework day 3 creative chemistry 103

My garden has been calling today but I have been just about able to keep up with Tim's on line course.

The sun has returned and it has been very pleasant in my studio working in the on line class room

Day 3 was very interesting for me as it dealt with collage and mixed media which I love.
Again I can't share any of the process but these were the ephemera and pices I gathered together for my card.

and once I had applied some vintage collage medium I achieved a great background.
As always I gave it a Jane's Journal makeover for a card.
All I added were 2 red embossed sentiments..............I added some ink to the edges and distressed it too.

I would like to also link up with the following fun challenges;

Simon Says stamp Monday 3/5 celebrate
Card Mania 2/5  let's party
More mixed media anything goes
Creative Corner anything goes

Thanks for checking out my homework, Back tomorrow with Day 4. Have a lovely weekend.
We have a film date with Jason Bourne tonight...I can't wait!

Day 2 homework Tim Holtz creative chemistry 103

I've been trying to keep up, as much as time allows me,  with Tim's on line Creative Chemistry Classroom. Thanks so much for your lovely comments on my Day 1 homework; my blogging friend Sara even gave me an A* bless her ;0) If you missed that post you can see it here

My studio serves as my classroom and I set my tablet up on my far table. I love being able to freeze the vidoes giving me time to create.  For my Day 2 homework I used his ditress paint resist technique to create my background for my card.

For my background stamps I used some more from my lady rose set

I decided to go for a really sunny  palette with my distress stains

This was my background left outside my studio on the bench to dry
Then I decided to do my Jane's Journal bit and go off piste to finish my card. I stamped and coloured Lady Rose herself with my distress ink.
I made some flowers and a crackeled butterfly for my embellies and die cut my sentiment in glitter card
And here is my finished Lady Rose in all her glory
with a couple of close ups

I had a great day 2 and I am looking forward to Day 3...collage mediums and texture paste no less!

I would also like to link up with the following challenges

Simon Says stamp Monday 1/5 celebrate
Card Mania 1/5  let's party
Crafty boots use a stamp

Homework Day 1 for Tim Holtz' creative chemistry 103

This is an "in between posting" as I am currently taking part in Tim Holtz's on line class, Creative Chemistry 103.
It is running live all this week and there are so many fabulous techniques he is sharing.
Each day he is asking us to do some homework and create something using one of his techniques. I don't use Flickr so I need to use my blog to upload my homework to the online gallery.

This my homework for Day 1, which was yesterday.  I have used his distress off-set stamping technique. I obviously cannot share his process, you would need to sign up for his class.
I bought the Lady Rose stamp set a while back and decided I would use both the flower stamps from it.

Here is my background I created using his technique...it is such a cool technique...

I decided to distress the edges and make it into a card...and below is my finished piece of homework.

I just love the vintage feel of this technique and can see me using it lots.

I also used an offset idea by using 2 colours of card for my sentiment.

Thanks Professor Tim for your awesome creativity. I have nearly finished day 2's class today and I hope to get time tomorrow to do some homework in the afternoon.

I'd also like to link up with these challenges;

Simon Says stamp Monday 1/5 celebrate
The artistic stamper 2/3  anything goes
We love to create 2/2 anything goes mixed media#16
Card Mania 1/5  let's party
