The moonlit sky

Hello it's time for my fortnightly design team post for Visible Image. Today I am sharing a card and bookmark made for my Mum's upcoming birthday. I have told her not to read this blog post until after next Monday! She and I have a "thing" about the Man in the Moon

I always love a full moon and snapped these photos recently.

So of course I had to use the awesome new Midnight sky set for her card and bookmark.

So back to my make, this is what I got up to.

I used these distress  spray stains to ink a sheet of mixed media card.

I cut myself 2 pieces, one for the card and 1 for the bookmark. I realized that if I made a slimline card the bookmark would not get creased in the post as it could tuck inside the card. My Mum is an avid reader so I know this will get lots of use. 

I stamped the verse and my images in black , sorry I cut the top of this photo!

I used gold ink and the star swoosh to link up my images

I stamped and gold embossed the large star for extra shine. 

For the card I also stamped the moon and large star onto an inky off cut and added them for extra dimension and focus. I didn't do this for the bookmark as I didn't want them to rub inside a book.

 

I coloured the stars on the card in gold pen and those on the bookmark in silver.

Creating some autumn calm for Visible Image

Good morning it's time for my fortnightly design team post for Visible Image. Did you see the 2 shows on Create and Craft TV last Wednesday? If you missed them you can still catch up by watching them on the Create and Craft website until this Wednesday. Details are at the bottom of this post.  They were great shows, Mark did some awesome demos and you can see so many of our samples there too. Visible Image will be on your screens monthly I will share the details of the October show in my next DT post or of course you can keep up on social media, all the links are at the bottom of this post. 

Autumn arrived last week and there has certainly been a dip in the temperatures. However Mother Nature is showing off such beautiful hues of colour and I am loving witnessing the glows of reds and gold all around me. 

So I thought I would create something with some mellow autumnal vibes for my share today.  I worked with the following products;

The caterpillar

Atomic flower stencil

Background stamps from Universal

the sentiment from Create your calm

 and bubbles from The guardian angel

This is what I got up to;

First I sprayed picked raspberry and twisted citron distress stain sprays onto mixed media card.

I added some distress ink through the Atomic flower stencil

Next I stamped a pattern using red archival ink and stamps from the Universal stamp set.

and ended up with this background

I also added some bubbles stamping which you can see in the final photo.

I stamped, coloured and cut out the brilliant  caterpillar and his toadstall adding some glitter and glossy accents as seen. I also stamped the sentiment from Create your calm onto the background.

Seeing stars at Christmas

It's just 2 weeks til Christmas now...we managed to get the trees up at the weekend and some of the decorations. Billy is still busy typing his post! My wreathes are up, this is the one on my studio door

 I also have these sweet bird lights which I bought in the sale after Christmas last year.

 They look all starry inside, so cute!

It is time for my 2nd design team piece to hopefully inspire you to join in with our "Stars" themed December challenge over at Country View.
 So obviously we would like to see all your crafting projects featuring stars. All the details can be found here
I decided to use my newest love in the stamping world, stamps by the delightful Tracy Easson who I had the pleasure to meet recently at a Country View Workshop. I used her
Star gazer set Morty Bottoms and Star gazer set Betsy Bottoms . I used a distress inky mop up piece of watercolour card and stamped Morty in place. I then added some more blue ink.

I then coloured him in with Zig watercolour pens.

 I also added some gold pen to the stars and his tie.

I stamped some of the words from the star gazer set onto card and cut them out. I also stamped the jar from that set and added crackle accents to it as I thought the little star would be trying to burst out to shine! I added some extra stars too.
Then I put everything together.

Feeling festive

Last week I went to a Christmas craft fair at Coolings Garden Center with my Mum and Dad. It was a lovely event and so good to see everything was handmade. I don't know about you but to me a Craft fair should me just that..not bought in from China!

I took a general photo as I then got distracted browsing all the lovely goodies.

 I bought a handmade cranberry scented candle, a sweet seahorse pendant and a very sweet Mr and Mrs Christmas cutlery holder. Sorry no photos as every time I think of photographing them it's pitch black. I really dislike the lack of light at this time of the year.

There were also some fun displays in the garden centre, these penguins were very cute.

I have been knee deep in making Christmas cards this week but I found time to make my artist trading cards and coins for the swap group I belong to.

Daisy and I started them last weekend and decided to use my ancient but very sweet Snowman and Snowdog stamps.

I make 5 of each. 3 for the swap, 1 for Daisy and 1 for me to keep. I coloured them with Promarkers adding some pencil highlights. The sentiments are ancient from my stash and the background stamps are all from the Visible Image Christmas Eve stamp set. The greenery, starts and snowflakes are die cuts.

It's the weekend again, how quickly this week has raced by.  Our trees have been delivered and I'm hoping to get at least one decorated tomorrow. We are also going to see Santa with the grandbabies and if you want to guess who is more excited...yes it's me!
