Nature inspiration for Visible Image

Hi everyone and welcome to my latest design team make for Visible Image. The theme for our makes this week is "nature". I recently returned from our annual holiday to Rhodes and during our stay witnessed some amazing sunsets. One night in particular it looked as though the sky was on fire and I decided that when I got home I would use it as inspiration for one of my card makes.

This was the stunning scene I photographed as we enjoyed one of our al fresco evening meals.

and this is the card I made

I used the following products

Bubbles and fizz stencil set for my "sun" as a stencil and mask

This is how I created my fiery sunset;

I pulled the photo up from my phone and chose these distress inks to re create the sky. I used black soot, scorched timber, crackling campfire, carved pumpkin and mustard seed

I placed the circle mask from the stencil (you get this included in the bubbles and fizz set) over the top of a piece of 15cm square smooth white card as shown below

Starting with the lightest colour (mustard seed) I used a round ink blending tool to blend each of the colours around the circle mask. I then removed the mask.

I placed the circle stencil where the mask had been and added a little mustard seed ink.

By using the combination of the mask and stencil I could achieve a white "glow" around the sun to really make it pop.

I then cut the background down to a 14cm square and stamped the horse with Nocture Versafine Clair ink and clear heat embossed it.

I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment onto black card and placed it at the bottom right of the card. I also stamped 2 of the little horses and used the "splash" of the horse to stamp as an edge to the sun, which you can see in the finished card. I matted onto black card and then affixed to a white 15.5cm square card blank.

Here is my finished card again.

I am always inspired by mother nature but I was so pleased that by making this card I was able to bring back a memory of a sunset meal on our recent wonderful sunshine holiday. You could also make something similar to my card in your scrap book or journal to save as a holiday memory.

The monthly challenges are hosted over on Facebook as it makes it easier for everyone who wants to enter, to do so. You don't need a blog or an Instagram account, just head over to the group and join in with the fun! The link is here and if you are not already a member just request to join and we will love to welcome you over there. It is also be a place you can see Country View Craft products, the latest releases etc etc. We have a happy membership of over 300 crafters already and we are growing every day.

I try to link up the products I use in my posts but obviously stock on the CVC website sells out quickly . Some may be out of stock when you click on the links. If they are just fill in the email notification and you will be emailed when they are back in stock. This is the link to the website .

Today I am sharing a card made with 2 Visible Image stencils and the same sentiment I used to make my card I shared on the 15th here.

This is how I made it;

I used the Hearts ink and Graffiti stencils.

I stuck the heart mask in place using low tac tape then inked through the graffiti stencil. I used Lumberjack plaid and black soot distress inks.

I removed the mask and added the heart stencil and inked it up using lumberjack plaid distress ink

I made some heart embellishments using some hearts dies and the  Visible Image Ripped mesh layering die as an over lay.

I stamped the sentiment from Have I told you (out of stock at the moment) onto the base of the heart and then put my design together.

Here is my finished card again

with a close up

and 1 final shot.

I really hope that I may have inspired you to join in with the "love" fun. Do head over to the challenge on Facebook here.  One of the new Tim Holtz vault series die sets is the amazing prize for one randomly selected winner

Remember you can find me most days over on Instagram here @jane.tyrrell where I do share many, many more makes then I have the time to blog.

Before I go I have a very exciting announcement that I am hosting my next inky cardmaking workshop at Country View Crafts HQ in Potton, Bedfordshire.

We will be getting inky making backgrounds using a rainbow of distress inks and sprays including stencilling and my favourite inky drippy backgrounds. We will be working with the latest Visible Image floral stamps and 2 of the stencils. You can also colour your flowers using the new (or existing) colours of distress pencils. You will be able to complete at least 2 finished cards during the workshop but will have enough product to finish 4, either at the workshop or at home.

Every attendee will also receive their own "Lilies in love" stamp set worth £12.99 FREE to take home and have the opportunity to buy other supplies at the workshop.
Lunch and refreshments are provided by the lovely Susan and I will give you workshops notes to take away too.

There are now only a couple of spaces left so if you would like to come click on the link here.
