Cinderella Slippers

Last week my Mum and I made our annual visit to see the Christmas section at Harrods in London. I will save my photos from that visit for a future post. Whilst we were there we decided to visit the toy department, yes I am still a kid at heart. On our way we noticed a new Disney "Pop up Shop" had opened and there was a big commotion around the "Cinderella Slipper Shop". Now I love Disney but I am rather out of touch as the last time we visited Walt Disney World was in 2003. It appears that for the last 2 years Harrod's have produced a special "shoe" in time for their annual Christmas Parade. Last year it was Dorothy's red shoes from the Wizard of Oz and this year, in collaboration with Disney,  it is Cinderella's slippers.
There was an amazing glass display cabinet showing these sparkling shoes. This was catching everyone attention. I decided to get side tracked and go into the special "Store"

Cinderella was at the entrance and I wandered inside.

There were lots of  little and not so little  girls trying the shoes on and buying them. The smaller sized shoes had no heel but the larger sizes had a 3" one and looked stunning. (Yes the "shop" was a bit pink for me ;0)

There were rows of the sweet shoes, arranged in sizes, on the shelves. Each pair was in a special box tied with ribbon.  I got talking to one of the assistants and I commented how gorgeous the shoes were and that they should be make in adult sizes. To my astonishment she said that they were and that as they are a limited edition they had nearly sold out of the adult sizes!

Now  I have been looking for some "bling" shoes for Christmas parties etc and I could not resist trying a pair on. To my amazement they are as soft as gloves and despite the heel just so comfy. I decided that a pair just had to come home with me

This is the special box they came in.

They came wrapped in tissue paper. Even the inner linings of the shoes have a pretty image.

And here they are, my very own "Cinderella slippers". I am so delighted with them and yes....I shall go to the Ball...but I wonder what will happen once the clock strikes midnight?
(I know I shall never grow up, I am just a really big kid at heart but they really are a fabby pair of party shoes. They sparkle beautifully  and I am sure will get some comments when I wear them, perhaps I shall say they are Jimmy Choos ;0)

My card for today needs to have a heavy dose of sparkle so here she is, my little Fairy Godmother who could grant any Christmas wishes with a wave of her Christmas wand ;0) With only 47 days until the Big Day that would be very useful.

She is actually called Hokey Pokey made by Nelly Snellen and is one of my newer stamps which I have only just inked up. I coloured her with Promarkers and Prismacolor pencils. I added some sparkle to her coat using  Glamour Dust. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley. The papers are from my stash. (Edit 9.11.12 I have been asked where I bought this backing paper...after a lot of trying to remember I found that it is a digital paper I bought from Shery K Designs. I have emailed the owner to see if she is happy for me to post a link here to her shop and will post one if she is happy for me to do so). The snow was made using my Viva pearl pen...I love this product. I hand punched some snowflakes and holly leaves too using gold card. This card has already been sold but I do have another version for sale in my Etsy shop here

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

I am still trying to catch up with my Bag charm orders, thanks to everyone who bought them. We have got tickets to see Skyfall tomorrow night, I can't wait. There are some films that just have to be seen on the Big Screen and this is one of them. Happy Thursday everyone and thanks as always for taking the time to visit me here.

Back soon,

Bye for now,

Sometimes you just have to spoil yourself

I make no excuse for this post, it is just pure self indulgence, I know! I also had no excuse for 3 recent purchases other than the fact that they were all bought during the sales. As any girl knows you can never have too many shoes or bags...can you?

The weather recently has been so drab and dull that I decided some treats were in order. I really do enjoy shopping on line..and my daughter had sent me a link to some shoes she was tempted to buy. Always a dangerous thing to do as when I opened up the link I was presented with some rather glorious shoes. Between emails we both chose a style we loved. We are both girls who chose to wear kitten heels when we dress up. I adore high heels but they are just not practical for walking any distance in! As a doctor my daughter walks miles every day; my excuse is that my feet are just a little older now. When I first met my Hb (in 1979..a lifetime ago I know and I was still at school) I used to wear 6" heels. It was not for a few weeks that he realised that I was actually  5' 4" tall not 5'10"" but that's another story!

After some deliberation at the computer I pressed the buy button and waited.....

A few days later the door bell rang (luckily it was my non work day) and I was handed a parcel by Mr Postie.I was so surprised by the box I unwrapped that I had to get out my trusty camera and show you.

Just look at that for a shoe box!!

I then slid open the box to reveal this gorgeous tissue wrapping paper.

And hidden inside all this....

The most deliciously indulgent pair of kitten heel purple suede shoes with an incredible silky soft lining to die for !!

Even the soles are patterned!
I love my new shoes but I was even more delighted by the way they had been presented, it does make an enormous impression. They are also SO comfy to wear.

And to finish off this rather self indulgent post here are my other 2 purchases.............

We have a Cath Kidston shop in nearby Wimbledon and over the holiday my Hb and I went to Wimbledon Village for lunch. As we walked past the shop and saw the words "Sale" in the window our lunch got delayed a little...well I had to go in and take a look didn't I?
When we had our trip to York in November we visited the Cath Kidston shop there and I admired all the wares but decided it was far too near to Christmas to buy anything.  I had admired this little bag there so when I went into the Wimbledon branch and saw the reduced price tag it just said "buy me"....the rest is history!

My final purchase was actually "earned", I used my Christmas bonus from work to treat myself to a new "everyday" handbag.......

from my favourite handbag brand, Radley.

Naughty I know but as I said to my Hb..........
they were all  in the sale....!!!

Have a self indulgent weekend too, go on, you all deserve it ;0)

Bye for now,
