Branching out for Visible Image

Hello it's time for my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image. Today I am using one of the 3 new stencils from their awesome new release. There are 3 new stencils and 6 new stamp sets which you can check out on the website here. I have made samples with each one and I have been sharing many of my makes over on Instagram so do check that out too. You can find me here @jane.tyrrell  Mine and my fellow DT teamies samples are also being shared by Visible Image over on their social media pages. The links are at the bottom of this post.

For today's make I used the gorgeous Branch out stencil. This is perfect for stand alone projects or for using with their gorgeous stamps too.

I also used the sentiment from the Totally toadstools stamp set

I decided to make an autumnal canvas and this is what I got  up to;

I used an 6 X 8" piece of  heavy weight smooth card for my project. I mixed some Deco Art crackle paint with gathered twigs distress re-inker to get a light brown colour.

which I then applied through the stencil, lifted off and left to dry.
Once thoroughly dry I added a circle of squeezed lemonade distress ink for the sun and then worked from light to dark adding 3 shades of green distress ink.
I also created some hills using a hill template and vintage photo distress ink. (You can use torn paper to do this with too).
I then put a piece of scrap paper to protect the sun and flicked on some drips of water. You will see the effect in the final photos.
I used vintage photo ink and a small brush to stencil the single crow and the flying flock (seen in the final photos).
I stamped the words from the Totally toadstools stamp set under the tree roots and matted and layered my canvas.
Here is my finished canvas;

Such a powerful sentiment with the single crackled tree.

September new release for Visible Image

It's a very exciting day for me today as I am blogging my first design team make using the awesome new Visible Image release. There are 3 new stencils and 6 stamp sets. They are available to pre order now ahead of their worldwide release on 23rd September. You can check them all out on the website here.

All the new stamps and stencils are so uniquely gorgeous that I had a really tough time deciding which of my samples to share first. I have made samples with each one and I have been sharing some of my makes over on Instagram so do check that out too. You can find me here @jane.tyrrell  Mine and my fellow DT teamies samples are also being shared by Visible Image over on their social media pages. The links are at the bottom of this post.

But chose I had to and I decided my first is going to be the  card sample I made to showcase using the beautiful Antisocial butterfly stamp set.

This is what I got  up to;

I used a 5.25" square piece of white mixed media card and stamped the words and butterfly in black and clear heat embossed. I then stamped the design below using the accessory stamps in the set using barn door distress archival ink. Both these stamping methods will allow the application of spray inks without any smudging of the images.

I then sprayed some water across the top of the card and added a spritz from left to right of candied apple, mustard seed, broken china and wilted violet distress stain sprays. I couldn't take process photos of this as I needed both hands and a splat box! However if you would like to see this technique demoed in person do read to the end of this post.
I dried this off with a heat tool and then added a few more flicks of water and re dried.
I stamped the butterfly onto a scrap of white card and cut it out minus the antennae. I coloured it with distress ink, which you will see in the final photos, adding some gold detailing to the edges of the wings. I then adhered it on top of the butterfly stamped on the card. I also added some 3D glue under the wings to give some extra dimension. I also added some gold ink detailing to the small butterflies. I also added some Glossy Accents to some of the circles to give an extra shine.
Using a distress tool I distressed the edges of the card background and then matted it up and adhered it to a white square card blank.

Here is it;

So a little heads up that if you would like to learn how to use distress ink and oxides (and hopefully pencils) in person and how I use them with Visible Image stamps, stencils and dies, I will be demoing for Country View Crafts (one of VI's UK stockists) at the Stamperama Show at Bedford International athletic centre on Sunday 25th September. Here is a link for the details. Pop the date in your diary. I will be sharing some of my demos and samples during the coming weeks. I will have all the new Visible Image release (and lots of their other sets) with me to demo and it will be on sale at the show too.

It would be really lovely to meet you if you are planning on coming. Do stop by the stand and say hello. Look out for these badges
and of course I'll be wearing a smile 😄

 This is what I got up to; I used fossalized amber and dried marigold distress oxide inks and blended them through the Visible Image autumn leaves stencil.
I then used stamps from the Visible Image lovely Hedgehog hugs set. I stamped the grass directly and stamped and fussy cut the hedgehog and small leaves and fussy cut them out. I added some gold pen details too.

I stamped the sentiment inside the large stenciled leaf.

and also stamped some extra leaves from the Visible Image Erika's Maple set onto inky mop up card and cut these out and adhered them to the background. I also added some Glossy accents for rain drops.
Here is my finished canvas

September rolls in with Country View challenges

 Hello everyone and welcome to September. Wow here we are 3/4 of the way through the year. It's time for my first of the month design team make for our September challenge over at Country View. The theme for this month is "season's of mists and mellow fruitfulness" so we would like to see your autumnal inspired makes.

You can enter a maximum of 5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges, including ours. As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies here.

  Remember that when you buy from the Country View Crafts website UK postage is FREE on orders over £20.00 I have added some live links within my post to take you to some of the products I used.

The project I am sharing for this DT post is very special to me as they are the badges/artist trading coins I have made for Country View Crafts for wearing on the stand at the Stamperama Show at Bedford International athletic centre on Sunday 25th September. I will be demoing all things Visible Image and Tim Holtz Distress inks on the stand and I will also be hosting a little giveaway for one of these. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning one the details are at the end of this post.

So back to my badges/artist trading coins. I first got the idea for making these in April 2019 when I demoed for the first time at  the London Ally Pally craft show. I had made some artist trading coins and thought they would also work well to wear as a badge. It's an idea I have continued with for every show I demo at and there is usually a theme behind it. The theme behind these is September and autumn..yes the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness!"

This is what I got up to;

I made some distress ink backgrounds using these colours

I die cut some 2 1/2 inch circles (the size of artist trading coins)
I added some stenciling using the fab "Honeycomb hex" stencil
I then stamped images and sentiment from Daisy Grunge and Bee happy
and as a finishing touch added some gold glitter pen and Glossy Accents

Here they are dry and ready to go!

with a close up of one.
Once again here you can find all the details for our September challenge here.
I am back on the 9th September with my 2nd make. This will also be something I am sharing at the Bedford show.
