Autumn owl canvas

 Hi everyone, it's time for my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image. Today I am sharing an autumnal canvas I made using the stunning Night owl stamp set

with the brilliant Framed fibres layering stencil.

This is what I got up to;
I stamped, coloured with Zig watercolour pens and cut out the owl from the Night owl stamp set

Using the Framed fibres layering stencil.  I die cut an aperture in a rectangle of silver card

I removed the silver die cut and repeated this process using black card. I used the black die cut in the silver frame.
I used a mop up piece of card coloured using Paper Artsy In the Navy Infusions which I put behind the aperture.

and then placed the black die cut into the aperture.
I stamped the sentiment onto  a square of white card and matted it onto black. I then matted the owl background  onto white and then framed it with black card. Last of all I stuck the owl in place. This finished canvas could also be put into a wooden frame and hung up.
Here it is finished;
with a couple of close ups;

and one final shot.

My November Christmas card workshop at Dotty's teahouse

Hello blogging friends I know I rarely post something that is not a design team make these days, but today is an exception as I have some very exciting news; I am going to be hosting a Christmas card Creative Workshop at Dotty's Teahouse in Carshalton, where I sell my cards.

 It will be held upstairs at Dotty’s on Thursday 24th November from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We are planning a fun festive event in a small group setting.

You will learn how to make distress ink backgrounds using a mixture of sprays and ink pads. You can choose to create with traditional Christmas colours or go more contemporary, the choice will be yours.

The stamp set we will be using for the images is the beautiful Christmas Robin set by Visible Image stamps. I will also demonstrate stamping techniques and heat embossing and will share lots of card making design tips and techniques.

These tips and techniques will enable you to make your own unique handmade Christmas robin card. If there is time you can make a second (or take it home to finish). Everyone will also receive a little Christmas bag with some festive die cuts, papers etc to take home too.

Here is a little taster.

The workshop is suitable for beginners or those with crafting/card making experience. It is for ages 16 years and over.

All equipment will be provided plus a card making take home bag.

The cost, which will include a mince pie and hot drink, is £25

And just in case you are new to my blog;

+++A little bit about me+++
I have 30+ years of crafting and card making experience. For the last 6 1/2 years I have been on the design team for 2 UK companies (Visible Image and Country View crafts) and 1 in the USA. My work has been shown on TV and is regularly published in craft magazines. I am proud to have been Dotty’s in- house card maker and sold my cards there since the day she opened. You can enter a maximum of 5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges, including ours. As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies  here.

  Remember that when you buy from the Country View Crafts website UK postage is FREE on orders over £20.00 I have added some live links within my post to take you to some of the products I used.

I decided to make a Halloween card this time using the fab new Branch out stencil from Visible Image

which Susan has in stock here, together with lots of Tim Holtz products.
This is what I got up to;
I mixed some black soot distress paint with transparent gloss texture paste and used this to create my stenciled spooky tree.

I used my 2021 distress mica stains to make my background. Susan has the 2022 ones in stock here;
I really love the shine they give.

I stamped out and coloured a couple of elements from sets from my stash including the witches' hat from the Halloween snarky cats stamp set.
I also used the pumpkin from the carved Halloween stamp set and I die cut some of Tim's Mischievous  cats.
I also used a remnant rub sentiment.
Here is my finished card.
With a couple of close ups

and one final shot.
I would love to see you over on Instagram where I share new creative makes nearly every day. This is my link/profile @jane.tyrrell
Sadly these days I just don't have the time to blog everything!

I hope I may have inspired you to join in with the challenge this month. Once again here you can find all the details for our October challenge here.

Free your imagination for Visible Image

 Hi everyone, it's time for my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image. Today I am using another of the 3 new stencils from their awesome new release. There are 3 new stencils and 6 new stamp sets which you can check out on the website here. I have made samples with each one and I have been sharing many of my makes over on Instagram so do check that out too. You can find me here @jane.tyrrell  Mine and my fellow DT teamies samples are also being shared by Visible Image over on their social media pages. The links are at the bottom of this post.

For today's make I used the gorgeous A-Z stencil

with their amazing Free your imagination stamp set to create a Halloween seasonal canvas.

This is what I got up to ; (I actually made several backgrounds in the same way. It's always good to have spares ready made).  I used some inky backgrounds from my stash, put the A-Z stencil in place and blended through Black soot Distress ink
These were all 4
and below is the one I chose to use.
I stamped the inky bird from  Free your imagination using Versafine clair Nocturne ink and clear heat embossed the image.
I stamped the book onto white card and added some purple drips using the drips stamp in the set. I also stamped the ink pot from the set and added some purple ink detail using a purple glitter gel pen. I cut both out.
I stamped the book again onto my background for placement and then added the cut out one. I stuck the cut out ink pot in place.
I stamped the sentiment and blended some extra purple to the edges of my canvas using Villainous potion distress ink.
Finally I distressed the edges of my canvas using my distressing tool. It adds some extra texture and interest to the background and is a technique I have always loved to use in my crafting.

I matted it onto white and then black card and for a finishing touch added a few white gel pen details.
Here is my finished canvas
with a close up;
and 1 final shot;

Halloween and harvest for Country View Crafts

Hello and welcome to October..the season where things go bump in the night and Halloween beckons. Until I had grandkids I had no interest in Halloween at all but 9 years ago the arrival of my first grandchild, Daisy Jane changed all that. From someone who dreaded the Trick or Treaters I am now that person all dressed up with my porch decorated ready to join in the fun and hand out sweets to my visitors.

It's also time for our new challenge over at Country View Challenges and the theme for the month is Halloween or Harvest so if you are not into Halloween you can still join us.

Here is my first design team make, 1 of several Halloween tags I love to make and give to my big and small kids attached to a little Halloween treat.

This is what I got up to;

I die cut and made up several of Tim Holtz' fun pumpkins (I will use the rest on my other tags). This is an old retired set from my stash.

I die cut some leaves in black card and added Foundry wax to bling them up. This stuff is seriously awesome!
The photos do not show how shiny it is when heat set.
I used last year's Halloween mica distress crayons to add some shine to an embossed tag also cut in black card. Susan has this years colours here.
I applied them directly to the raised areas and used my finger and a little water to move them around.
I stamped and die cut a few more elements and then put everything together;

Here is my finished make;
with a couple of close ups;

and 1 final shot;

I will be back on the 15th October with my 2nd make.
