My Pisces daughter

It's my daughter's birthday tomorrow and she has strict instructions not to read my blog today as I am sharing the birthday card I made for her for my weekly Visible Image Design Team inspiration .

She recently moved to the seaside and although the weather has not yet warmed enough for playing on the beach we can't wait until we can.
The views are so beautiful at any time of the day. These photos were taken last year.

and there is a local tea shop for tea and cake
There is nothing better than gazing out across the sea.
The photo I took below shows my DD and Daisy wrapped up warmly 2 weekends ago.
I knew that her first birthday card in her new home should feature the sea in some form. I also wanted to link in the Pisces theme as she was born the last "day" for Pisces.
She love mermaids and seahorses, as I do and I although Visible Image have a fab new seahorse stamp but not a mermaid I had an idea.....
I would use my "Katie" from the Tomorrow doesn't exist set and turn her into a mermaid..yes seriously..bear with me!
These were the other stamp sets I used;
Make a wish from Own it set
Pisces from the zodiac sets
the seahorse
the wings from the angels are near set

and the strobes stencil

So this is what I came up with...
The background was created using salty ocean, broken china and fossilized amber distress oxides, using the wrinkle free technique. I added some sun rays using the rays stencil and gold ink.

I stamped the seahorse and added some white highlights and to make him even more magical I added a wing from the angels are near set. This I gold embossed on black card and fussy cut out.  I love the way the gold rays from the stencil shine through him.
To add some sparkle  and "magic" I used glitter gold embossing powder and stamps from the universal set.
To make my "mermaid" I stamped "Katie" from the Live like tomorrow doesn't exist set but positioned the stamp so that the leg didn't appear. I embossed her in white with a pinch of gold powder too.
I was also able to just use the date from the Pisces set as this is my girl's actual birth date, 20 March.
I stamped and fussy cut lots of fish and had them swimming in and out of the swirls and also between my "mermaid's" hands.
A couple more close ups...

and one last shot
So a very happy birthday tomorrow to my darling girlie. I hope she likes her special seaside Pisces card.
It's supposed to be the first day of spring tomorrow too...hmmm I think Mother Nature got a bit confused at the weekend!
Yes the Beast came back with yet more snow!

My Pisces son

Good morning it's time for my Monday dose of Visible Image inspiration and for today I can finally share the card I made for my son for his birthday on 24 February.

Daisy (my granddaughter) helped me make a quick lemon sponge birthday cake for her uncle (my son is not a fan of cake and this was a version he prefers of my standard Victoria sandwich cake). She so proudly carried it in

and helped him blow out his candles.

We had such a fab day together, special family time.

So now to share his card.
I used the following stamps.

  Pisces from the Zodiac set
and elemental stamp set.
Plus the time tunnel stencil.

I made my background with acrylic inks plus some Lindy's sprays which have a gorgeous sheen. It's so hard to show in a photo taken in the evening when I was working.

As it was A4 size I cut it up
I added some background stamping using elemental
and some stencilling using white ink.
.
I stamped and embossed some of the fish and all the Pisces words onto black card and fussy cut them out.
I then put my card design together.

As I had some spare pieces of this background I also made a bookmark for him. I added 2 fish
and cut up the letters of the Pisces word and mounted them on snippets of black card.  Here are both projects together.

A close up to show the cool elemental stamped background.

and a final collage.
I would like to enter my card and bookmark into the following challenges;

Penny Black and More 1/3 feature a creature

My daughter is also a Pisces and her birthday is coming up next week so I will be sharing a very different Pisces card for her next Monday....she now lives at the seaside, so I knew the just the theme to use.

Enjoy your week, we have a very special little 4 year old visitor coming to stay today until Thursday...yes my darling Daisy Jane. No doubt the minute she gets here she will want to start some crafting 😁
Must dash, I have a sweet girlie to collect....

A little fishy zodiac stamping fun

Good morning, here we are in the last week of January. I hope you enjoyed your weekend? We had a lovely one and saw Ovo by Circe du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday. It was amazing and I will share some photos soon.  I took this photo of part of the Albert memorial opposite the Hall..I do love those fishy tails on the mermaids. This also links in nicely to my project today.
It is of course my weekly dose of inspiration for Visible Image stamps. Wow they really did take Creativation in the USA by storm last week and have come back with an order book which is bulging. I was thrilled to see some of my work on display, together with my talented design teamies.  Their stand was truly awesome. Here is a photo shared from their Facebook page. There are so many exciting adventures which lie ahead.

Now if you look at the left wall of their stand you will spot the Pisces tag which I am sharing today.
Here it is in close up

I made an underwater inky background on my tag using salty ocean and broken china distress inks.I used the Pisces zodiac stamp set which you can now buy here It is one of the brilliant 12 new stamp sets from the Written in the stars zodiac collection. All the new release are currently in stock on the Visible Image website here. They will also be available to buy from your favourite stockist in the UK and internationally.
You will spot that I used another of the new stamps on my tag
I used the crack from How fragile which you can buy here
I stamped and embossed it onto heat resist acetate and had my distress inked fishes swimming out from it. I fussy cut my fish which were also inked with distress.I stamped and cut out 3 of the 5 words which also come with this great set. I linked everything up using the fun star constellations using red Versafine Clair. I die cut and added a snippet of inky mop up card too.
Here are a couple of close ups

and one last shot.
 I would like to enter my tag into the following challenges;
