Visible Image friendship

Hi everyone, it's time for my next blogged design team make for Visible Image. The theme for our makes this week is "friendship" and I am using the Blooming Fabulous stamp set with the Atmospheric stencil from the new Love of Nature release. This stamp set is perfect for a friendship birthday card.

I started off with a blue distress ink background from my stash made with distress spray stains. I positioned the circles part of the stencil over the card and blended lumberjack plaid distress through it. I moved the stencil down and repeated.

Using the text stamp I added some extra interest to the background using lumberjack plaid and salty ocean distress ink.

I also stamped one of the sentiments in black at the top of the card.

To make the "flower" I stamped the bloom on white card using red ink and cut it out. I also stamped the best and friend words onto a scrap of white card and created a "stalk". I added some extra red ink detailing.

Using a button and twine I added a fun centre to the bloom and attached the "stalk"

To put my design together I glued the bloom onto the background, distressed the edges, matted it onto red card and then onto a white card blank.

Here is a close up of the bloom.

and one last shot of my card.

It was fun to turn the bloom into a whole flower for my card.  Adding the text stamping details also  creates a lovely background to show it off. This really is a special floral birthday card for a special best friend.

Mother's day tag using the new floral Visible Image release

Hi everyone. I am delighted to be sharing my first design team make and blogged tutorial for Visible Image using their brand new florals release. You can check them all out here.

The theme for our makes this week is "for Mum" and my brief was to make something "other than a card". I chose to make a tag for Mother's day using the beautiful new Precious life stamp set.

I also used the Mother's day sentiment from their existing Golden Daffodils stamp set.

This is the tag I made.

Here is how I made it;
I die cut a tag using super smooth 300gsm white card.

I stamped the flower from Precious life and sentiment from Golden daffodils using black Versafine and clear heat embossed them.

I used this palette of distress inks;

and picked the inks up with a paintbrush and a little water to paint the flower.

Once painted I added some micro glaze to the main part of the flower and leaves to seal them.

I then pressed each of the distress inks onto my media mat, spritzed on some water and then tapped in the tag to pick up the inks. I did this in layers, drying with just a heat tool NOT an embossing gun between layers. Too much heat will melt the embossing.

Using the accessory stamps in the Precious life set I then stamped the rest of my design. I used green and yellow Versafine inks.

To finish off I backed the tag onto black card, added some of my signature sequins and a green check ribbon to give a real spring feel.

This tag is perfect for attaching to a bunch of flower or any present you might be treating your Mum to on Mother's day. If you use a different sentiment it would also work well with any spring gift.

Floral storytelling

Recently I visited a beautiful floral exhibition at a garden centre near my parents. We often go for lunch there and they put on regular floral displays.  This summer the theme was storytelling. I took some photos to share as I thought the colours and flowers they used were spectacular.

These were my favourites.

There was a certain rabbit called Peter.
The girl with a red cape and a very scary grandmother.
The 3 bears and the blond one!
And a hatchet job from Jack

It was great fun and the flowers were spectacular. Here are a few of my favourite flowers in the displays.

The theme is changing to Autumn Fire next month.....the year is really flying past.

My card today is also one which tells a story....of sweet baby boys. Yes it's another I made for Dotty's. A very summery version using my favourite Penny Black stamp. I coloured it with my Promarkers.  The sentiment is Clearly Besotted and the papers are First Edition. The flowers are Cheery Lynn,

I would like to enter it into the following challanges.

Stamping sensations 3/3 anything goes
Penny Black and More 3/3 anything goes
Allsorts fabulous florals
Penny Black and More favourite technique mine is stamping and colouring
Happy Little Stampers anything goes with a die
Crafty Calendar summer fun
The Craft Barn weekly challenge blue
Crafty Hazelnut's patterned paper challenge August

Summer is firmly in place today. The heat is on and we may reach 30c here in the south. I am meeting up with my daughter and Daisy for a day out so this fabulous weather is well timed.

Enjoy your day and sending you some sunshine if you are missing it.

Another hot summer day for crafting

Today it is time for my 2nd DT inspiration post for Country View. I am the hostess for this month's challenge and I chose the theme of Hot Summer Days. Think holidays, seaside, picnics in the countryside, ice cream, relaxing in the garden, summer flowers...I think you get the picture.
You can enter any craft, there is no limit to the number of times you can enter or the number of challenges you can enter. It really is my kind of challenge blog

My first DT post is here, if you missed it.

My tiny garden is still blooming beautifully and provides so much of my summer crafting inspiration.

I decided to use the same stamp but create a very different card. This time I went for a very CAS (clean and simple) design but I still used hot summer inks to colour it with.

I stamped and white embossed my Wendy Vecchi stamp onto mixed media card.
I used the same summery distress inks as for my first card
but this time I watercoloured the image

I matted onto deep pink card, inked the edges and added a stamped sentiment....simples!

Here is my finished CAS card.

I would like to enter it into the following challenges;

CASology watercolour
                                                           Crafty cardmakers 3/3 summer
The artistic stamper 2/3  anything goes
Paper Creator 1/3 keep it simple
Less is more use something tactile mine is the embossing which gives a lovely edge to the flowers.

I have sorted through my Tuscany holiday photos and I will share more soon but here is one to whet your appetite....a really hot summer day in sizzling Sienna.

If you would like to enter my challenge over at Country view with you own hot summer days craft projects this is the link. I would love to see what you make.

How does your garden grow?

After my visit to the nursery a few weeks back I hardened off my bedding plants and was finally able to pot them up a couple of weeks ago. After the rain and now the hot sunshine they are really taking off.
I have bought some old favourites but also some newbies....I love this new purple petunia.
It gives such a flash of colour.
I have gone for yellow and red in my hanging baskets this year
As you all know I adore taking photos...you have seen my photos on my blog for nearly 6 years now (gulp).  However I have a confession to make....for all the cameras I have owned..... I have never ever read the manual. I just look at the quick set up guide and I'm off. I drive my Hb potty as I'm the same with any gadget. I just don't have the patience to sit down and read a manual.  At the weekend though I noticed an icon on my camera which I didn't understand and after all this time I finally searched out the CD and loaded the manual onto my computer.  OMGoodness what fun effects there are on my camera!

So I had a play.....and I love all these different effects....here are a few

Fun eh!
So my challenge project has to be floral doesn't it. It is a canvas that I have not yet shared with you. I made it at one of my talented friend's, Brenda Brown's inky days.  It was such a great day. We used lots of mixed media techniques.

I would like to enter it into the following challenges.

Simon Says Stamp Monday summer garden
A vintage journey texture or embossing paste (used on the canvas).
Everybody Art non cute
Allsorts 2/3 the great outdoors
Crafty Friends based on a book mine is Papillon by Henri Charriere
Noor summer
Stamps and stencils floral frenzy
Rhedd's Creative Spirit anything goes
Happy Little Stampers mixed media
Butterfly challenge A is for aperture +/- apricot

And just to leave you with one more of my photo effects....

....who stole the yellow ;0)

I can see me using this lots.

I can almost hear my garden growing at the moment. It's too early for my fuchsias to bloom yet but just wait until they do...my camera will be very busy.

Thanks as always for your kind visits and sweet comments you take the time to leave. We had a massive thunderstorm this afternoon but the sun is now back...no need for me to water the garden tonight ;0)

Bye for now,
