More Mother's day inspiration for Country View Challenges

 Hi everyone, I am here today with my 2nd design team make to hopefully inspire you to join our March challenge. The theme this month is "Mother's day/use a flower or floral image as your focal." You don't need a blog or an Instagram account, just head over to the group and join in with the fun! The link is Here and if you are not already a member just request to join and we will warmly welcome you. It is also be a place you can be the first to hear about workshops, the latest releases etc etc. We have a happy membership of over 370 crafters and we are growing every day. You can enter the challenges up to 5 times as you like as long as you use products from brands which are stocked on the Country View Website.

Here is my step by step tutorial;

I used Tim Holtz' gorgeous vault floral wreath to die cut lots of foliage in coloured and white card stock and inky mop up card and also some hearts using his stacked hearts die set. 

I made a sunny yellow background using squeezed lemonade and fossilized distress spray stain inks. 

I cut a piece of white card the same width of the card and stamped one of the sentiments from the Visible Image Golden daffodils stamp set.

I adhered the wreath from the set and added the elements as shown. 

I edged the flowers using scorched timber distress ink  on a tiny blending tool. I then added some sequins and some Stickles glitter glue to the flower group.

As a finishing touch I added hearts to either side of the sentiment.

Mother's day tag using the new floral Visible Image release

Hi everyone. I am delighted to be sharing my first design team make and blogged tutorial for Visible Image using their brand new florals release. You can check them all out here.

The theme for our makes this week is "for Mum" and my brief was to make something "other than a card". I chose to make a tag for Mother's day using the beautiful new Precious life stamp set.

I also used the Mother's day sentiment from their existing Golden Daffodils stamp set. 

This is the tag I made.

Here is how I made it;

I die cut a tag using super smooth 300gsm white card.

I stamped the flower from Precious life and sentiment from Golden daffodils using black Versafine and clear heat embossed them.

I used this palette of distress inks;

and picked the inks up with a paintbrush and a little water to paint the flower.

Once painted I added some micro glaze to the main part of the flower and leaves to seal them. 

I then pressed each of the distress inks onto my media mat, spritzed on some water and then tapped in the tag to pick up the inks. I did this in layers, drying with just a heat tool NOT an embossing gun between layers. Too much heat will melt the embossing.

Using the accessory stamps in the Precious life set I then stamped the rest of my design. I used green and yellow Versafine inks. 

To finish off I backed the tag onto black card, added some of my signature sequins and a green check ribbon to give a real spring feel.

This tag is perfect for attaching to a bunch of flower or any present you might be treating your Mum to on Mother's day. If you use a different sentiment it would also work well with any spring gift.

More Mother's day inspiration

 Hello I am here with my 2nd design team inspiration make for our March challenge over at County View Challenges. The theme for the month is "Mother's Day. You can make anything you like using any products. You can enter a maximum of  5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges including ours. For this make I used the gorgeous Visible Image Butterfly effect set 

with the gorgeous new framed fibres layering die

The die cut Mum is from my stash.

This is what I got up to;

I cut the layering die out twice, in pink and white card to make a frame.

I stamped one of the sentiments at the bottom of the card front.

and sprayed the die with mica stains.

I stamped, coloured and cut out the large butterful...

and also the circle stamp in the set to stamp behind the panel.

The die cut Mum is from my stash.

I then put everything together....

So if you happen to be near London or fancy a day out I will be demoing Visible Image stamps and stencils plus the whole Tim Holtz distress range, including the awesome new colour, saltwater taffy (and more!)

Mother's day for March over at Country View challenges

 Happy March friends, spring really is just around the corner now and so is Mother's Day. We will have spring bulbs like these from last year in my garden to look forward to.

Here in the UK it is on Sunday 27th . Mother's day is also the theme for our new challenge over at Country View. So we would like to see projects which you would send to your Mum or of course your Mother's day cards.  You can make anything you like using any products. You can enter a maximum of  5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges including ours. Sketched tulips

the Broken mesh layering die

and also the Mother sentiment (not in stock but if you would like it do email CVC)

This is what I got up to;

I used these distress inks to create my background which I then cut to size.

I stamped the Mother definition at the bottom and clear embossed it.

I added the background stamps from Sketched tulips

  using kitsch flamingo. It is worth buying this set just for the gorgeous script stamp!

I then stamped the tulip and added colour using watercolour pens. 

I die cut a piece of inky mop up card using the Broken mesh layering die

and cut it into pieces to add around the edges of the card.

The finishing touch was some sequins, before I matted my card and adhered it to a card blank.

Pots of flowers

My magnolia in my garden is bursting with pink blooms. It is the only tree I have room for..I love it despite the fact that the blooms are short lived.

Billy and I were able to enjoy lunch in the garden on Monday.

He loves rolling around on the patio..and getting very gritty!

My hard work planting up my pots in the garden with spring bulbs last autumn has paid off and the daffs are gorgeous. 

The winter violas are still hanging on too

and look what I spied...

Yes.....my tulips are pushing up and should be in bloom very soon. 

I love this time of the year, the birds are singing, the bees start buzzing and you can almost hear the flowers growing.

I have been taking down some last Mother's day cards to Dotty's as it is Mother's day here in the UK on Sunday. My card today is one of them.

The image is my old Nicecrane digi, the stamped sentiment is Clearly Besotted. The dies are Cheery Lynn, Marianne and Memory Box.
