Bee-ing tidy

I'm very excited today to be blogging my first design team make using the brilliant new Visible Image bee dies. These coordinate with the awesome existing Bee happy stamp set. Now I am a very keen fussy cutter but these bee dies are just the best and cut out so perfectly and easily that even I might think again about fussy cutting my bees!

The bee dies and 3 other coordinating die sets were released last week and available now on the VI website.

I love making art tins by upcycling empty tomato tins and I have shared several on my blog over the years. I decided I would make a new bee pair, one for Visible Image and one for me. I have shared the actual process of measuring and sticking the label to the tin in the past, so if you would like those specific details please check out this previous posts here using the See Everything set.

So this is how I made my bee labels for my new art tins. 

I sprayed the label with squeezed lemonade and twisted citron distress stain sprays. I added extra water and allowed the inks to mix and run down.

Using the honeycomb hex stencil I added some wild honey distress ink randomly around the label.

I also added some extra honeycomb stamping using Versafine clair summertime ink.

I stamped the words bee kind in the centre of one label and bee happy on the 2nd.

 I then stamped the bees, coloured them with distress pencils, die cut them out using the awesome new dies 

and adhered them to the labels.

In the Visible Image Friends Facebook group I was asked to show how to line up the dies on the stamps, so here is the description I gave there too. This is the same process for any of the co ordinating dies but this is smallest bee description. 

I colour the images first as personally I find it is easier to colour on a larger piece of card but it is personal preference, you can colour afterwards too. 

Place the card on your die cutting plate and line up the inside edge of the die with the image. Check the edges of the wings, bottom and antennae are lined up. You should be able to see the full image through the top of the die as shown below.

Add a piece of washi or low tac tape to keep everything in place.

Run through you machine using the correct "sandwich". You only need 1 pass.

This is how it looks after running through the machine and the tape removed. Yes you can see my die cutting plates are very well loved!

Ice cream anyone?

 Good morning! It's time for my fortnightly Wednesday blogged design team make for Visible Image. I'm delighted to be blogging one of my ice cream samples I made using the awesome new "Better with ice cream" set from the summer stamp release."

I know I am not really allowed to have favourites but to me this is the best ice cream stamp set I have seen in all my nearly 30 years of stamping. It just screams summer! You have the choice of whippy or a 99 or a waffle cone with extra scoops too. There is even a flake to make a "99". The 4 separate sentiments are so cool too.  It's just brilliant.

This is what I got up to;

I used an offcut of one of my shaving foam distress reinker marbled backgrounds and stamped the ice cream part in Versafine Clair "Charming" ink, clear embossed the image and cut out just the ice cream whippy part. 

I then stamped the cone part onto kraft card using Versafine Clair acorn and again clear embossed and cut them out. I tend to make things in batches ever though I was only using 1 cone for my card. That way you always have a ready made image at hand for a quick card when needed.

My background was a distress ink one from my stash using picked raspberry, mustard seed, vintage photo, spiced marmalade and broken china ink pads.

I stamped the sentiments onto white card

and added "strawberry sauce" using Christmas red stickles.

I finished it off with a flake which I made using the stamp on Kraft card with Versafine Clair acorn ink again. 

You can see the process easier in this photo below taken in my studio as I worked.

I added a flake to one of my cones. I stamped the ice cream onto the card front using Versafine Clair Charming, to get the inky drips back, and stuck the ice cream I had made on top. I then put my card together and added my signature sequins as a finishing touch.

Wings of change for Visible Image

 Hello everyone another fortnight has whizzed by and I am back with my latest blogged design team make for Visible Image. For today's make I made a summery canvas. There are clickable links on all the products I used which will take you to the website.

These are the sets I used;

and to add texture to the butterflies the very useful background stamp set

Grunge tones

with the Hope definition from Equality, hope and love stamp set.

This is what I go up to; I made a distress ink background using these colours;

I stamped the word hope from the  Equality, hope and love set in the centre. I stamped the words from the Wings of change at the top and bottom,  you will see this in the final photos. 

To add texture and interest to the butterflies I made some quick textured backgrounds using these inks. First up is this one, you can see how I used the stamps from Grunge tones

 I then stamped some of the butterflies.

I also made a more white based one using the same inks but I didn't smear any ink onto the card. 

Again I stamped some butterflies and this time added some clear embossing powder and heat embossed them. 

I cut them out, minus their antennae, as they would be layered up on the canvas.

I put together my design by stamping the butterflies straight onto the canvas and then adhered the matching cut out butterfly on top.

I added some glossy accents to some of the circles in the words and on the butterflies. When dry I stitched around the edges using my sewing machine,

Then I matted it up onto white and blue card.
