Nature inspiration for Visible Image

Hi everyone and welcome to my latest design team make for Visible Image. The theme for our makes this week is "nature". I recently returned from our annual holiday to Rhodes and during our stay witnessed some amazing sunsets. One night in particular it looked as though the sky was on fire and I decided that when I got home I would use it as inspiration for one of my card makes.

This was the stunning scene I photographed as we enjoyed one of our al fresco evening meals.

and this is the card I made

I used the following products

Bubbles and fizz stencil set for my "sun" as a stencil and mask

This is how I created my fiery sunset;

I pulled the photo up from my phone and chose these distress inks to re create the sky. I used black soot, scorched timber, crackling campfire, carved pumpkin and mustard seed

I placed the circle mask from the stencil (you get this included in the bubbles and fizz set) over the top of a piece of 15cm square smooth white card as shown below

Starting with the lightest colour (mustard seed) I used a round ink blending tool to blend each of the colours around the circle mask. I then removed the mask.

I placed the circle stencil where the mask had been and added a little mustard seed ink.

By using the combination of the mask and stencil I could achieve a white "glow" around the sun to really make it pop.

I then cut the background down to a 14cm square and stamped the horse with Nocture Versafine Clair ink and clear heat embossed it.

I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment onto black card and placed it at the bottom right of the card. I also stamped 2 of the little horses and used the "splash" of the horse to stamp as an edge to the sun, which you can see in the finished card. I matted onto black card and then affixed to a white 15.5cm square card blank.

Here is my finished card again.

I am always inspired by mother nature but I was so pleased that by making this card I was able to bring back a memory of a sunset meal on our recent wonderful sunshine holiday. You could also make something similar to my card in your scrap book or journal to save as a holiday memory.

Rhodes photos part 2

I am back with my promised 2nd installment of photos from our recent holiday in Rhodes. Today I thought I would share our day out in Rhodes Old Town, the oldest inhabited walled city in Europe and it has World Heritage protection. It is such fun wandering up and down the ancient cobbled street in the footsteps of those millennia who have walked there in the past.
We last visited the Old Town a couple of years ago and it has been many years since we went inside the Palace of the grand Master so we decided to remedy that.
There is so much history to this place which changed and developed  after many, different cultural invasions.

How grand the inside was and so vast (and beautifully cool)
We also visited the nearly museum, which was new to us, with fabulous mosaics outside.

We enjoyed a wander around town too
before returning to our resort for a cooling late afternoon swim in the sea
and then dinner as the sun set.
Just bliss, such wonderful memories.

I will share one final installment of my Rhodes photos; our butterfly valley visit, very soon.

My card today is inspired by the sunsets in Rhodes and the rainbows I have seen this week with all the rain and sunshine. It features the awesome Visible Image Cheshire cat. I love this sentiment and it makes me smile, there will be a lot of laughter over our lunch today as we are  celebrating my Dad's 87th birthday.
The background is alcohol inks and I coloured Mr Cat with Promarkers adding Glossy accents to his eyes
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges.

Lindos 2019

I'm back to share my 2nd installment of our holiday photos from Rhodes. We always love visiting nearby Lindos.
It rises like a jewel out of the Aegean Sea and has some pretty bays to look down to.
Bougainvillea hangs everywhere in the cool narrow streets
In the evening the light is very different

Our favourite restaurant looks out to the Acropolis, such an awesome view.
and we even have a Billy like friend who keeps us company.
My memories inspired me to make these artist trading coins.
I made an inky background using brushos and pixie powders.
I then added some white circles through a hand cut stencil
I then built up the inky layers using my Visible Image stamps and also their sentiment from the Create you calm set which I yellow embossed.

Here is one in close up to show the sea effect I added using glossy accents.

Still warm enough for swimming in the sea

Good morning it is time for my 2nd DT project for Country View Challenges for our current "Under the sea" challenge. I thought it would also be a good opportunity to share the first of my photos from our recent week in Rhodes where where we spend days on the beach in glorious sunshine.
Our balcony looked out the sea and we had just a minute's stroll down the steps to the sandy beach.
and the crystal clear sea.

I love the play of the light during the day, this is late afternoon
and even at night it is just as beautiful as the sun sets.
I love swimming in the sea and walking the beach, always on the look out for mermaid of course! Now sadly I didn't spot any but I thought it would be a great idea to try to recreate what that might look like with by making a mermaid card.

First I added some distress inks, Fossilized amber, Lucky clover, Tea dye and Mermaid lagoon ( of course!) to watercolour paper.
Then I used the waves stamp in the set and randomly stamped it across my card, just like the waves on the beach.
I then stamped using the bubbles stamp.
I stamped, coloured and cut out my mermaid and 3 of her dolphin friends (you get all these in this gorgeous  stamp set).
I also stamped some of the shells and the star fish too. The little crab in the set I stamped directly, isn't he cute!
I also used some die cuts including Tim Holtz' old ornate frame and put my card together.
A few close up photos. You can see I added glossy accents to some of the bubbles.

There is also a really wonderful sentiment in the set....
