Cats and dogs for Country View Challenges

  Hello and welcome to May. It's time for our new challenge over at Country View Challenges. Our theme this month is "Cats and/or dogs" so we would like to see projects with cat and/or dog imagery as the focus.  You can make anything you like using any products. You can enter a maximum of  5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges including ours. As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies here.

I used the following products; I have added clickable links within this post to the CVC website. If anything is out of stock just add your name in the email notification and Susan will email you when she has them back in stock.

I am very much a "cats" girl so my design makes this month will both be with cat stamps. In my opinion the best cat stamp set I own is Curious Cats by Visible Image. I LOVE this set. It is a real talking point and I sell lots of cards made with this set in Dotty's Teahouse.

I used it with the birthday sentiment from the VI Happy birthday verse set and
the fun Count me in stencil
This is what I got up to;

I stamped the large cat and a birthday poem (from an A7 size birthday set also by Visible Image) onto white card and clear heat embossed.
I masked the eyes and nose.
Using walnut stain, antique linen and crackling campfire distress oxides  I blended them through the  Count me in stencil

I then coloured the eyes and nose with glitter pens before matting and layering onto my card blank.
Here is my finished card.
With some close ups

and 1 final shot;

I hope I may have inspired you to join in with our May challenge. You can use any stamps/products, the choice is yours.
 Once again all the details for the challenge are  Remember that when you buy from the Country View Crafts website UK postage is FREE on orders over £20.00

Daisy Grunge

 Good morning it's time for my fortnightly design team make for Visible Image. Today I am sharing a make using another of the fab new summer release stamp sets. This release is going down a storm which is no surprise se as it really is awesome. These are the 6 new stamp sets and 3 stencils.

 Visible Image are launching the whole new release on Crafters TV today so do tune in. Mark will have lots of demos to share.
Tune in at 12pm, 3pm & 7pm BST
7am, 10am & 2pm ET
You can watch on the Crafter's TV Facebook page, Crafter's TV YouTube channel, or on the Crafter's Companion website!

 They will also be on Hobbymaker TV this Friday 28th. You can also still pre order on the website, to be sure to be the first own these lovely new stamps and stencils as I have a feeling these may well sell out on the TV shows!

 The set I chose to work with today is called Daisy Grunge. It is proving to be a best seller which is no surprise as it really is a gorgeous set. Plus anything which has my sweet granddaughter's name in it has to be pretty awesome!

I made a slimline card and this is what I got up to;

 I made my background using kitsch flamingo, salvaged patina and wilted violet distress inks. Just the usual Tim Holtz smooshing method of pressing the inks onto a craft sheet with added sprays of water, dipping in some mixed media card and drying between layers. I cut a panel 10.5 X 20cm from this,

I stamped the whole large daisy in black Versafine ink and clear heat embossed, plus an extra centre (for some extra dimension and used further on) onto white card and cut them out. I coloured the separate and the whole daisy centres using  mustard seed and squeezed lemonade distress inks.
I then cut the daisy with the coloured centre into 4
and stuck each quarter around the edges of the background.
I then stamped the daisy again in the top half of the card.

and added the separate cut out centre.
I stamped one of the sentiments, adding the tiny daisy in the set at the sides, for some detail. I coloured the centres of these tiny daisies yellow too.
I then matted onto black card and glued it onto a card blank. A couple of sequins were added as my very much loved finishing touch.

Here is my finished card.
with a close up,
 and one final shot;

My make today uses some of my many left over die cuts pieces which I made into an Easter card.

The letters were left over from my Bold text #1 die set

I was able to make up the word Easter. I also used Tim Holtz' flower field die

and a left over cut die cut Visible Image mesh.
I used black card stock and just layered up my design adding the chicks from my stash and some stars as finishing touches. Here is my finished make.

 I hope I may have inspired you to join in with our April challenge. You can use any stamps/products, the choice is yours.
