A new destination with Visible Image

Hello everyone it's time for my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image.  Today I am sharing a step by step of a special birthday card I have made for my dear son who is 35 years young on 24th February. He is such an amazing person and despite so many hurdles has just finished renovating his new home and will be moving in very soon.  I love the Destination unknown set and it is brilliant for male cards so that's what I used. The card is larger A5 size which I love using for special family cards.

I used it with the map stamp from Scripted streets

 a sentiment and the stars from the Birthday wishes set
 I die cut an aperture using the Broken mesh layering die
and also used the Lava stencil to create the Earth ( it works well for moons too!)

This is what I got up to;

I made an inky background on mixed media card using these distress oxide and stain sprays.

I die cut an aperture using the mesh die (you then have a very useful layering die cut for another project). I love using the dies for apertures and I have shared several previous projects here before.

I repeat stamped the map using grey ink on a piece of white card

and added this underneath the aperture.

Using a small circle die cut from my stash I made "Earth" using blue distress inks

To give some extra dimension I added some more blueprint sketch ink through the Lava stencil. I have also used this stencil to make a moon in the past using grey ink. It's a very useful stencil to have in your stash.

I stamped Happy birthday in the centre using Nocturne Versafine Claire ink and clear heat embossed ( as I did with the other sentiments I added)

I stamped some of the words from Destination Unknown at the top and bottom of the card. I also added some star stamping (from the Birthday wishes set) all around the background using orange Versafine Claire ink

Next I stamped some of the planes and boats from the set using blue ink, clear heat embossed them and cut them out with scissors.

Then it was time to put everything together adding some white pen accents for a finishing touch. I also added some black soot distress ink the edges.  I stuck the background to a black card blank made by folding an A4 sheet of 300gsm of black card in half.

Here is my finished card;
with a couple of close ups,

and 1 final shot.
