Summer days with Visible Image

 Good morning all and welcome to my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image. Summer really is in full swing and I am loving the flowers in my garden and the insects they attract. One of them is my favourites, ladybirds but also bees. My make today was very much inspired by my tiny garden which is blooming beautifully.

 I am using the

 Little Ladybirds set

with Daisy Grunge

the small bees from Bee happy

the birthday sentiment from "Go to words"

to make a very summery birthday card.

This is what I got up to;

I used a distress oxide ink background from my stash (squeezed lemonade and picked raspberry) I placed the Flower ink stencil on top

and used a blend of mustard seed and abandoned coral regular distress inks through the stencil. I then cut the panel down to a square.
I stamped the large daisy from  Daisy Grunge into the centre of the stencilled flower using Versafine Clair nocturne and clear embossed it.
I stamped the large and 2 small ladybirds from the  Little Ladybirds set onto white card and again clear embossed. I coloured them using distress pencils and cut them out minus the legs.

I then stamped them again onto the card background, to get the legs back,

and glued the cut out bodies on top.

I stamped the happy birthday sentiment from  "Go to words" at the top and 2 small bees from  Bee happy each side.

I then coloured the Daisy grunge petals and bees using distress pencils, adding glossy accents to the centre of the daisy for some extra dimension. A little sparkle pens was also added to the bees wings and my signature sequins for a finishing touch.

I matted onto red card and then onto a 6" square white card blank.

A rainbow Cheshire cat for Country View challenges

Good morning today. It's a very important day today....our sweetest Billy cat is 15!

  It is also time for me to share my 2nd design team make for Country View Challenges to hopefully inspire you to join in this possibly last challenge on Blogger.

We are going to take a break for August and September and our challenges are possibly being transferred to Facebook. Blogging and Blogger have changed so much over the years and audiences seem to be bigger on other social media platforms. I still see that I have lots of traffic on my own blog here but it is sad how things are changing. Blog posts do take a LONG time to write, especially as I always choose to share my step by step process. So I will continue to do this for Visible Image and hopefully for STAMPlorations when Shery is well enough to restart her challenges, but this may well be my last blogged make for Country View Challenges. (I might pop in and out with occasional CVC makes if people really would like to see some process photos).

Our current July challenge theme is "4 legged friends". As you well know my favourite 4 legged friend is my sweet Billy cat so of course I had to make another cat themed card!

 Your challenge make must have a pet, farm or wild animal with 4 legs....not 2 or 8! You can enter a maximum of 5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges, including ours. As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies here.

  Remember that when you buy from the Country View Crafts website UK postage is FREE on orders over £20.00 I have added some live links within my post to take you to some of the products I used.

 This time I used the Visible Image Cheshire cat  stamp set

which also has co ordinating dies with the new Birthday wishes sentiment set to make a cat birthday card...of course!

This is what I got up to; I made a rainbow drippy background using distress oxide sprays.

I stamped the sentiments and the background star from the Birthday wishes set.

Then I stamped the cat and fish bones. I used the co ordinating dies for the fish but and coloured and fussy cut the cat. I added glossy accents to the cat's eyes (of course!)
I put my design together, matting onto red card and then a square white card blank.

I hope I may have inspired you to join in with the challenge this month? Once again here you can find all the details for our July challenge here;

Have a brilliant summer. You will still find me creating most days over on Instagram here; @jane.tyrrell .

**************EDIT 21/9/23 I am very sorry to say that Country View crafts is NOT having a stall at the Bedford show. But plans are in place for me to demo again in 2024 at Ally Pally. Keep an eye on the socials!****************** Before I go; a little early heads up that I will be demoing all things Distress ink and Visible Image again for Country View Crafts at the Stamperama Show in Bedford on Sunday 22nd October. It was a fab show last year...here are a couple of photos of me in action. If you are planning on coming do stop by..I will be hosting a little give away as always.

Do let me know if you're still out there on Blogger and what your thoughts are about the challenge changes.

Also I realise that I rarely do any "personal" posts on what is going on with family/holidays, my gardening etc? Is there still an interest for that? My blog is 13 years old on the 26th of July and I do enjoy reading my old posts and just wonder whether to continue to do a few more personal ones i.e not just for my design teams? Do leave a comment here if you would still like to see what is happening in Jane's Journal behind the scenes. Thanks so much for all your support over the years. It's been an incredible journey!

Bye for now,

Stars are not just for Christmas

Another fortnight has flown by and I am here today with my latest design team make for Visible Image. I am delighted to be able to share my first blogged make using one of the new Christmas stamp sets which were released on Saturday.

I know that a lot of you may not yet be considering making your Christmas cards just yet so I am showing today how "Stars" are not just for Christmas. I am using the new Shining Star stamp set. (There is also a gorgeous star stencil in this release).

 This card design would work well at any time of the year and in different colourways.

This is what I got up to; I sprayed Villainous potion distress stain spray and Hocus pocus distress mica stain sprays onto Daylor Rowney mixed media card adding plenty of water.  I also added water droplets to lift the ink.

I stamped the large star onto the background and also onto white card which I coloured with yellow and orange distress ink. I also stamped the smaller stars in the same way and cut the yellow stars out (see the final card for placements) I also stamped and cut out the sentiment from the set.

I gold embossed the star clusters around the black stars.

I then stuck the yellow cut out stars on top of the black outlines and put my card together. I matted it onto black card before adhering it to a square white card blank, adding a little gold pen detailing for finishing touches.

Here is my finished card

Our 4 legged friends

  Hello everyone and welcome to July. It's time for a new challenge over at Country View. The theme for July is "our 4 legged friends" so your make must have a pet, farm or wild animal with 4 legs....not 2 or 8!

It's no secret that my favourite 4 legged creatures are cats, especially my Billy cat.

My sweet boy is 15 this month and is enjoying the glorious sunny weather in the garden. So of course my make just had to be of a cat!

 I love the Visible Image cat stencil "The cat's whiskers"

and the "That lovin feline"stamp set and decided to use these for my first make.

At Ally Pally the cat set sold out very quickly on the Saturday. There are also dies for this now which CVC will have in stock soon. I am using both for my design team inspiration today.

This is what I got up to;

I used distress inks through the stencil

I used glitter pen on the nose and mouth

I stamped and die cut 2 cats and stuck them each side. I stamped the hearts inside and added some paw prints.

I stamped the VI Happy anniversary sentiment (Susan can order this set if you would like it) and one of the sentiments from "That lovin feline"stamp set

Here is is my finished card

and 1 final shot
I hope I may have inspired you to join in with the challenge this month? Once again here you can find all the details for our July challenge here;
