February hearts and flowers

Happy February friends, the month of love.... and spring flowers. It's time for our new challenge over at Country View Challenges. I am delighted to be your host this month and I have chosen "Hearts and flowers" for the theme. This means that you need to have both hearts and flowers on your make. You can make anything you like using any products. You can enter a maximum of  5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges including ours. As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies here

This is what I got up to;

I have added clickable links within this post to the CVC website. If anything is out of stock just add your name in the email notification and Susan will email you when she has them back in stock.

I used my favourite ever flower stamp by Visible Image Creative chaos for my "flowers".

which I stamped 3 times, coloured with distress inks and cut out.
I made a "smooshed" distress ink background using mustard seed, salvaged patina, kitsch flamingo and speckled egg. I thought this gave a very "spring" feel to my card.
My "heart" is a very old die from my stash. I used it to die cut some pink inky leftover card
and then added a little blueprint sketch distress ink.
I stamped happy birthday (from Visible Image's birthday sentiment set) at the top of the card.
I also added a little background stamping using the other stamps in the Creative chaos set.
I glued on some sequins as a finishing touch and then matted and mounted it onto a card blank.

 Here is my finished card

 I hope I may have inspired you to join in with our February "Hearts and flowers "challenge. You can use any stamps/products, the choice is yours.

Blow out the candles for Country View challenges

 Hi friends, I am back with my 2nd design team make for our January challenge over at Country View. The theme is "Your year to sparkle and shine". So we would like to see lots of bling, sparkle media etc. You can enter a maximum of  5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges including ours.

As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies here.

For this make I decided to make a sparkly birthday cake using the awesome Visible Image Blow out the candles stamp set. I appreciate that this set and lots of other are currently out of stock over on the website. Susan will be restocking very soon and if you add your email address she will contact you when they are back in stock.

This set is just perfect for making quick birthday cards. This is the card for my husband's birthday yesterday as he loves chocolate cake so this is what I baked  made. This is what I got up to;
I used one of my distress ink shaving foam marbled background from my stash and dripped on some snow flurries distress mica stain. I love the sparkle you get with these inks.

I then stamped the large cake onto brown, blue inky mop up and white card and cut the parts out to assemble 1 cake. It's really useful doing it this way as you have 3 cakes to make up. Great instant spares for a quick birthday card.
I stamped the sentiments in place and stamped the candles in place. There is a lovely "glow" stamp in this set which gives a gorgeous outline to the candles. I added a little glitter pen to them and then it was time to assemble my cake
Here is it is;
You can see the Stickles sparkle I added to the icing, in the close up
and one final shot;
I hope I may have inspired you to join in with our January "Your year to sparkle and shine "challenge. You can use any stamps/products, the choice is yours.

Take your broken wings and fly again for Visible Image

Hello, I am here today with my fortnightly design team post for Visible Image. I have been a secret squirrel over the last few weeks making samples with the AMAZING upcoming new release. You may have seen some sneak peeks on social media over the last week. Pre release orders open on the website this Friday (21st Jan). Worldwide release date is 11th February. There are new stamps, stencils and dies...and something rather different for Visible Image in the die front too. I think you will love the new products. Obviously I can't share anything here yet (but there are some of my sneak peeks at the end of this post) so I decided to look through my stash and chose a stamp set I have not used for a while.

 I chose Learn to fly . This set has gorgeous images and such an uplifting quote.

This is what I got up to;

I used one of my shaving foam marbled reinker backgrounds from my stash. For this one I had use the uber useful Fibres stencil

I masked off the sentiment into 2 halves using a Post it note.
and stamped it in 2 halves at the top and bottom of the background.
Using spiced marmalade archival distress ink I stamped the birds. I then stamped the small feather using peeled paint archival.
I used green versafine clair in rainforest green to stamp and clear emboss the large feather.

I added a few sequins for a finishing touch and matted up my card.

Here it is finished;
with a couple of close ups

and one final shot;
