Tags for November

Hello and welcome to November. It's time for our penultimate challenge of 2022 over at Country View Challenges and the theme for the month is "Tags". So for this month we would like to see tags only for your entries.

You can enter a maximum of 5 times and into a maximum of 10 challenges, including ours. As always there is a fab £20 voucher up for grabs for one lucky randomly selected winner to spend on the website.  You can find all the details of the challenge and more examples made by my talented teamies here.

  Remember that when you buy from the Country View Crafts website UK postage is FREE on orders over £20.00 I have added some live links within my post to take you to some of the products I used.

My granddaughters' 9th birthday is on 11th so I decided to make her a tag for her presents. I used the hilarious new Mischievous cats dies from Tim Holtz which are on the website here . I teamed them up with a distress stain strain background and a lovely sentiment from the new Visible Image "Better days ahead" stamp set, which is available here.

This is what I got up to;

I sprayed villainous potion, mermaid lagoon and chipped sapphire stains on a tag. I added some spritzes of water then dried it.

I die cut a number 9 in purple card
and lots of the  Mischievous cats from plain and inky mop up card. I added my own faces and a few tail and paw details.
I chose these 3 cheeky ones for my tag.
I stamped and white embossed the sentiment onto the bottom of the tag
and then put everything together.
Here is my finished tag;
I also made a matching card for Daisy  using some of my other die cut cats;
The birthday sentiment is from the Visible Image Lost for words stamp set available here;
So here is one final shot of my tag.

I will be back on the 29th November with my 2nd make which has a festive feel to it.

Autumn owl canvas

 Hi everyone, it's time for my fortnightly blogged design team make for Visible Image. Today I am sharing an autumnal canvas I made using the stunning Night owl stamp set

with the brilliant Framed fibres layering stencil.

This is what I got up to;
I stamped, coloured with Zig watercolour pens and cut out the owl from the Night owl stamp set

Using the Framed fibres layering stencil.  I die cut an aperture in a rectangle of silver card

I removed the silver die cut and repeated this process using black card. I used the black die cut in the silver frame.
I used a mop up piece of card coloured using Paper Artsy In the Navy Infusions which I put behind the aperture.

and then placed the black die cut into the aperture.
I stamped the sentiment onto  a square of white card and matted it onto black. I then matted the owl background  onto white and then framed it with black card. Last of all I stuck the owl in place. This finished canvas could also be put into a wooden frame and hung up.
Here it is finished;
with a couple of close ups;

and one final shot.

My November Christmas card workshop at Dotty's teahouse

Hello blogging friends I know I rarely post something that is not a design team make these days, but today is an exception as I have some very exciting news; I am going to be hosting a Christmas card Creative Workshop at Dotty's Teahouse in Carshalton, where I sell my cards.

 It will be held upstairs at Dotty’s on Thursday 24th November from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We are planning a fun festive event in a small group setting.

You will learn how to make distress ink backgrounds using a mixture of sprays and ink pads. You can choose to create with traditional Christmas colours or go more contemporary, the choice will be yours.

The stamp set we will be using for the images is the beautiful Christmas Robin set by Visible Image stamps. I will also demonstrate stamping techniques and heat embossing and will share lots of card making design tips and techniques.

These tips and techniques will enable you to make your own unique handmade Christmas robin card. If there is time you can make a second (or take it home to finish). Everyone will also receive a little Christmas bag with some festive die cuts, papers etc to take home too.

Here is a little taster.

The workshop is suitable for beginners or those with crafting/card making experience. It is for ages 16 years and over.

All equipment will be provided plus a card making take home bag.

The cost, which will include a mince pie and hot drink, is £25

And just in case you are new to my blog;

+++A little bit about me+++
I have 30+ years of crafting and card making experience. For the last 6 1/2 years I have been on the design team for 2 UK companies (Visible Image and Country View crafts) and 1 in the USA. I demonstrate distress inks, stamping and paper crafts at craft shows, including the annual Alexander Palace Craft show in London. My work has been shown on TV and is regularly published in craft magazines. I am proud to have been Dotty’s in- house card maker and sold my cards there since the day she opened. Check me out on Instagram; @jane.tyrrell
