Ripening in the late summer sunshine

And so our glorious summer continues for another week. Despite the chillier mornings and darker evenings the temperatures have been getting up 26c most afternoons. 28c is forecast for Thursday and yes it is my non working day!. My veg have been loving it and are really ripening well now. I have already picked lots of ripe tomatoes, this is my 2nd delicious flush.
My green peppers are turning red
I have a second flush of aubergines too

There are still masses of runner beans
and we have been constantly harvesting the chillies. We hope to dry lots and use them over the winter

and someone else was ripening out there too...
well actually it got a bit hot for Billy so he found a shady spot ;0)
There is nothing like the taste of home grown is there? All this sunshine has inspired my card making as even though I have still been in sunshine and gardening mode I am still making Christmas cards. I recently bought the nativity stamp for the brand new Lili of the Valley Christmas 2013 range and I had to ink it up straight away. I went for really bright but traditional green, red and gold/yellow and this is what I made.
***squeal*** isn't it the cutest stamp! I coloured the image using my Promarkers and highlighted with Prismacolor pencils. The card has been cut using my new Go Create large die cutters which I bought as part of my amazing prize from winning the Hobby House challenge last month ;0) **thanks guys**
Here is that image in close up
I used my favourite Cheery Lynn Holly die cutter for the holly leave and pearls for the berries. The tiny tag sentiment is LOTV and the other one is a Whimsy stamp. I have also used a Marianne candle and a Memory Box precious stars die cut too. I also added a lovely gold coloured snowflake charm from my jewellery making stash. You can see how sunny it was when I took the photo...no need of any enhancement with these photos just the natural sunlight.

I would like to enter my cards into the following challenges;

Lili's Little Fairies (there last one but they are reforming...hooray as a fairy challenge;0) No flowers

Can I give a warm welcome to my new followers, it's great to see you joining me here. Also a virtual wave and thank you to everyone who reads my posts. Last but never least thanks for the kind, encouraging comments you leave me here..I think my last card was quite popular...and yes I will be using that stamp again. I just wish there were more hours in the day ;0) This blogging world is such a positive fun thing to be a part of...I just love it! Thanks everyone out there you really are the best.

Back soon,

Bye for now,

  1. Yes it is indeed a very cute stamp but only you Jane could go straight from sun ripening tomatoes to holly berries!! ;)
I am constantly amazed at what can grow outside in the south of England!!!!
    Enjoy your girly lunch.

  3. Hi, Jane! YOur garden is looking wonderful and I am still very jealous of your red tomatoes - mine are going to end up as greeen tomato chutney at this rate! My courgettes, (which look a little like yellow versions of your aubergines!) have decided to flourish again, I have a few potatoes left to harvest and the rhubarb is still giving it's all! It is true, you cannot beat homegrown and I hope to extend my veggie planting next year! We've been out picking blackberries, which there's a bumper crop of this year, not sure what they'll end up as, maybe jam, maybe, ice cream sauce or maybe even a crumble when the winter starts to draw in! Can't quite believe it's September already - it was my little man's 10th birthday yesterday...where does the time go to?!
Love your little Christmas card and that LOTV nativity angel stamp is just so cute! Fab traditional colours and pretty card shape, hugs, Lisa x

  4. What cute nativity stamp and I love the Cheery Lynn dies, the holly is one I've admired, but never purchased. There is nothing better than fresh vegetables, hopefully they will be ready before the first frost.
I found you through the MIM Link Party where I have linked up 2 items and would love it if you'd stop by too.
    Hugs, antonella :-)

  5. The weather is indeed still glorious Jane and even the evening so nice and warm to sit outside.

And no evening dampness which we usually get this time of year, so much so that they have been combining until almost midnight the last few days.Hubby informs me that it looks like being a good harvest this year.

So I have been equally busy in the kitchen with the garden harvest as I imagine you are as well by the look of the photos.

Onto your card and as soon as I saw it I knew you had embraced the lovely greens of the photo, such a pretty card at that.

Thanks for sharing with us at Stamping Sensations.

  15. More aubergines! I only have one this year :( not sure what happened there (and I do mean one single aubergine, I have three plants!). I'm hoping to keep the sun a bit longer to ripen all my green tomatoes but have you seen the drop for Friday? 10 degrees cooler - yikes! Bethx

  26. Hello dear Jane,

I am amazed to see your garden - everything looks so delicious! And it looks so summery at yours still, too, all blooming and green. And Billy-boy, he's handsome as ever!

That card is so cute, and I almost spilled my tea to the screen when I was thinking poor Vivienne reading this post...It starts innocently all summery and pretty and then: a C-card :)What a shock!
But your card is so pretty, and that stamp really is adorable... You'll be making many pretty cards with it I'm sure.

    Happy weekend soon, dear friend!

    Yours,
    Mia
