Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2015, Jane's Journal style, July

We're past the half way mark this year with Tim's monthly tags. For July he created a water coloured piece, the details of how to make it are here.  This is the photo of it below.
It is obviously a very patriotic tag for the USA 4th of July celebrations. As you know I am making 12 different cards instead of tags, using them as "special" cards for close family and friends.
I had planned to use the August tag to make my Hb's wedding anniversary card which we celebrate on 25th of this month. Now Tim's stamps would be of no use for this plus I don't have any of them so I went away for quite some time to consider which of my stamps I could use to make my Hb's card.

They needed to be a sensible size, not too big and not too small and I also wanted to feature a sentiment in the middle of the 3 panels where Tim used his USA stamp.
I searched my stash and eventually I decided that 3 of my Visible Image stamps would fit the bill.

I first chose my backing paper and then stamped out my images.
I tore them in the same way as Tim shows on his blog and then coloured them with Distress inks
Now I do have Tim's magic ingredient....Distress micro glaze and I used it here for the first time...it really does work like magic and seals the inking perfectly. I was then able to go over my images with a wash of watercolour without anything moving or bleeding. It's fab!
It was then time to assemble my card and add my own take so here is what I came up with this month.
 I added LOTV tiny tags with my anniversary wishes on and a couple of star brads I have had in my stash nearly from day 1.
 I do not have a sewing machine and I actually find my faux sewing manages to fox most people so I am sticking to making holes and using a pen for my stitching..shuuush don't let on.

I would like to enter my card into Tim's July tag challenge

and also into the following fun challenges;

  5. Your anniversary card is nice. I like the US tags as well. I know it isn't useful for your husband's card but just the same a nice tag. My husband was talking to our British friend at church the other week and ask if they celebrated July 4th in the UK? Well, yes, she said, good riddance day...in which we all laughed! :0} Enjoy your time with family at your niece's wedding! We have a wedding to go to next weekend and I need to get my card made for them. A photo and then will probably embellish with stickers, or not. Take care!
