Recently I visited a garden centre and spotted lots of colour there.
and these great pots....
Back at my parents' house they had some lovely colour already in their pots.
But below is my rather forlorn garden yesterday morning when we woke up to quite a heavy frost
However I do have some colour as there are some pretty daffs out in my front garden.
My very favourite flowers, I just adore these sweet yellow bonnets.
For the dictionary challenge over at the Craft Barn we have been given the letter F and we also have include a heart. I also wanted to join in with some other super challenges so I pooled some of the challenge themes and decided that inspired by the colours around me at the moment my art journal pages would be F for Floral.
There is also a "wax" challenge over at PaperArty so I decided to use these for my theme.
There is also a "wax" challenge over at PaperArty so I decided to use these for my theme.
I used my PaperArtsy tulip stamps and my new Wendy Vecchi SISI flower and stamped lots of images on to book pages.
I got out my long neglected Gelatos and used them to colour my images.and then fussy cut them all out.
I added some floral/ garden texture using texture paste
and chose these distress inks for my floral palette.
I added some colour to my pages
and a VI sentiment
and added some flicks and drips of water and some more stencilling using my heart stencil
I also made my own "terracotta" pots out of packaging.
I wanted my love of my garden to shine out of my pages and also to remind me that my pots will soon be full of colour. So I put on my creative hat and had a play over a couple of days with my design.
This is the double page spread I made;
Here is my antique dictionary definition of floral, "pertaining to flowers" what a lovely way of saying it. I put it into a Cheery Lynn die cut heart frame. I also added the PA bloom sentiment as this is so apt.
there is some text stamping using my VI bronte verse stamp.

I would like to enter my art journal pages into the following challenges;
The Craft Barn alpha/dictionary challenge F with a heart
PaperArtsy #3 wax As suggested by Leandra in the intro video I dug out my gelatos and had fun colouring with them .

So we have reached the weekend of love ;0) My hubby and I plan to get an M+S dine in for 2 and celebrate together at home on Sunday. I will be sharing his card next week as it is a guest design card plus I need him to see it first.
I hope you share your weekend with someone or something you love...even your garden....I do love mine so much. I just need it to warm up before I can get out there to start a tidy up and plan for the coming season. It's bitterly cold this afternoon....there may even be a nip of snow in the air....brrr.
Keep snug and carry on crafting....I am planning to sew a Witch's cape for Daisy as it is World Book Day soon at her nursery and she wants to go as the witch from Room on the Broom. Time to get the sewing machine out the loft....yes we found the one which I thought we had given away!
Thanks for visiting me today and taking the time to leave a comment.
Back soon,
Bye for now,

Now you know Jane that I love all your creations but I think that this has to be my favourite to date! It is is so beautiful, I love the colours, the gorgeous flowers, everything really! Well done! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic weekend (we love M&S dine in for two), happy sewing and happy Valentines!

This is just ABSOLUTELY beautiful Jane! I love your creativity, all the thought behind those pages and your choice of colours. I do not art journal but I can certainly identify with this page of yours. Like you my snowdrops are flowering alongside daffs and polyanthus. The poor garden does not know the time of year and the grass is desperate for a cut...but still too early. We are planning am M&S dine in for 2 also and then a trip to London next week to meet my Grandson in the flesh. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow Wow Wow Jane, absolutely stunning and I'm sure you will win a lot of your entered challenges with this beauty.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julie x
Gorgeous floral pages, Jane.....such pretty ideas and they all work together so well. I love my garden too, and like you can't wait for it to warm up again. Wishing you and you hb a very Happy Valentine's weekend...enjoy your celebrations!

Fabulous pages and love the design. I see you have entered The Craft Barn challenge, I used to be a tutor there before moving up to Suffolk just before Christmas. Thanks for joining in with us at Winter Wonderland. Carol S. DT
ReplyDeleteHi Jane. Such loveliness at your house! Love the daffodils minus the frost. We are bitter cold here and NO sign of flowers. That's the most awesome card and the steps were so interesting. Definitely a winner! Have a great weekend, xoRobin
ReplyDeleteI love this! The colors are great and I those pots are very clever.
ReplyDeleteMy oh my! I am just soaking up all these photos of floral...real and paper. I am imagining how gorgeous your garden must look in full bloom. And your journal pages are gorgeous right now in full bloom. How clever your corogated pots are! Placing your definition in a heart shape is a perfect finish for your love of your garden. So nicely done!
ReplyDeleteDid you get that wonderful clay pot with the kitty on it? Gorgeous! Our daffodils are budded but not open.. our snowdrops are gorgeous! Great pages you did.. I like the corrugated cardboard "pots".

Totally gorgeous page Jane. Love the corrugated cardboard pots, and all your lush flowers! The heart is really intricate, love that. Your photos are just wonderful, we still have several months to go before any flowers will be showing their faces, several months of snow-less winter! Ugh! Happy weekend. hugs :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so beautiful and looks like a lot of work, but the pages are awesome. Love it :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic, well designed, and well conceived entry for the Craft Barn's challenge. I was more than a little impressed, and adored how much you put into this, including fussy cutting the flowers and designing the different and unique pots.
ReplyDeleteHello Jane,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pages! It feels like Spring is right around the corner despite that heavy frost (will your succulent make it?) It is always so inspiring to follow your creative process, thank you!
Happy Valentine's day!

I love everything about this, and really liking the quote :) I have garden envy. My yard is totally white. It's going to be a while before I have flowers too. I like your parents' yard too.
ReplyDeleteA lovely combo of colour and stamping Jane, many thanks for joining in our February themes at Vintage Stamping and Stamping Sensations challenges.

ReplyDeleteFabulous creation with wonderful colors and design. Thanks for sharing with us at Crafting for all Seasons. Barb
ReplyDeleteThere's flower color popping out here as well. Primroses and daffodils and tulips in late March. Your floral card is nice. So creative. It's been wet and warm here, too humid some days for my liking. Cold nights. Spring is just around the corner! Hope your Valentine's Day was nice. We were out for lunch but ate cake in afternoon for my bday. Phil did a good job making the cake! It was so good I have had two pieces today. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI have nothing but admiration for those who can garden, and you can garden AND craft, so that's doubly impressive! I really like how your piece turned out and thought the way you did the flowers with the book text was especially clever. And I am dying at how genius it was of you to include the definition like you did! LOVE THAT and must try that tactic for myself. Thank you for the inspiration and for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteF is also for Fabulous :) Love the colour and that saying, create with your soul will be my mantra for the day x
