C is for

For the current alphabet challenge over at The Craft Barn the letter is C.
I found out the letter choice whilst on my holiday in Tuscany and decided that the only possible C which I could use was C for Cypress...the stunning Tuscan countryside is Cypress tree dominated.

The countryside is so stunning

 And the drive to our villa was a via this incredible cypress lined track.

I decided to use one of these photos for my focal and made myself a mixed media background in my art journal.
My vintage dictionary definition is a little odd but never mind the graveyards bit...LOL

I started adding some texture with tissue wrap which I purposefully wrinkled.  I also adding texture paste using my flourish stencil

 I chose my colours, inspired by the trees and land.

I started spraying my inks and then added lots of drips and drizzles too...I wanted a vintage Italian canvas as a background.

There was always the sound of buzzing bees up at our wonderful villa so I used my Crafty
Individuals bee stamp too.    I continued building up the layers of ink until I was happy with my background.
Above is the photo I used which I die cut a gold frame for and added my dictionary definition to.
Then it was time to put on my creative hat and finish my page.
I found a very apt quote on the Internet which I printed on my computer and cut up.

Here is my finished page...

and a couple of close ups. I bought this gorgeous Cheery Lynn wheat sheaf die last winter and this is its first outing.
The fields in Tuscany had been recently harvested and there were hay bales everywhere.

I would like to enter my art journal page into the following challenges;

  10. What a fabulous and personal page. I adore your built up background and the Dr Seuss quote. Your cypress tree pics are great to see. Our local council decided to put cypress trees up to decorate a very busy roundabout near us and it's been a disaster. They are not suited for a concrete urban environment and some have died and the others have bent and look ugly and out of place. It's wonderful to see them in their true setting.
