Cosy rosey colours

Thanks for all the blog love you sent me in my last post. Your comments were wonderful and I am glad that you are all pleased to see my crafting journey taking off in a new direction. I have been working on my first DT piece for Country View Crafts which will be posted in April.

You also loved the flowers that my daughter bought me for Mother's day, those colours are just awesome. In case you missed them here they are sitting on my archway. I can admire them from all angles.
I have also been bought some gorgeous flowers by my son. His are ivory, green and yellows, very different colours but wonderful too. I was also sorting through my photos on the computer and found some I had not shared from late last year of a beautiful sunset in my garden

Such incredible blazing colours
All these bright colours had me reaching for my art journal. There are some great challenges asking us to work with bold colours and I also wanted to make a piece for a new challenge over on Facebook by Lavinia Stamps.

I got out my Gellatos and had a play...using lots of texture....
blending with my fingers
and then softening with some water, allowing the drips to fall through the centre like warm rain.

I then added lots of die cuts which I had coloured and textured.

and then stamping (all Lavinia). I don't often use such bold bright colours at this time of the year but it was good to think of sunnier days ahead.
Here is my finished piece.

Lavinia have decided to run their challenges very differently in that we are have to ask our friends and family to vote on Facebook for our work. They will then draw up a shortlist of the top 20 voted pieces and then their designers will choose a winner. I really dislike having to ask for votes but that's what I have to do.  I'm not sure it's that fair to everyone either as it is rather limited to how many FB friends are on your list. However that is the rule (for now).

So if you like my piece and you are on Facebook and would like to vote for my art journal pages could I ask you to please click the link here
There is a like button above the photo of my entry. Just click that and who knows I might get through to the 2nd round. You are also encouraged to share it as much as possible so please feel free to also hit the share button too .....the more votes the merrier!  Thanks so much. I can enter 3 projects a month but I think once a month will have to do for me as I really can't keep asking for votes every few weeks.

I would also like to link up and enter my pages into the following fun challenges in the normal way ;0)

Penny Black and More  1/3 feature a creature
Simon Says Stamp Monday  make your own background

Thanks so much for continuing to follow my creative journey here at Jane's Journal and for your kind comments and support. I would like to warmly welcome my 3 newest followers, it's great to see you here.

Keep snug, it's still very chilly here in the UK.

Back soon,

Bye for now,

Jane x

  3. Such a striking layout and the colours are fabulous. Yes I am with you about the voting etc on facebook for Lavinia. I love their products but not a facebook fan and I am mortified to ask for votes too...however this is so striking and I am sure it will get lots of votes.

  7. Wow that is an amazing sunset!!
You have used the colours from it so well. :) It is a strange way to vote, as your say people with a huge facebook following are obviously at an advantage. You've got my vote anyway.
Have a great weekend my friend,

  11. HI Jane,

I am glad you are asking for our opinion because I feel exactly the same way about these types of challenges. What you have created is beautiful and you are always showcasing products and techniques so beautifully that we are inclined to have a go at it as well.

    xx

  12. Ohhhh such lovely pinks and drips and color! What an awesome sauce design and details and those fairies are magically delicious! Wowzers on the vibrant colors your chose for this delightful design. Stunning! I have never heard of a challenge that asks for votes, seems counterproductive to me IMHO.

Thanks for joining in our "Crazy for Colour" challenge at Anything But Cute! Hugz ~Niki DT

  15. Hi Jane . . . well this is just FANTASTIC . . . I really love it and I hope you get picked. I am really quite cross that Lavinia have gone over to FB because I choose NOT to have a FB account and so I can no longer join in. However, now you've mentioned how the new challenge works, requesting votes etc, I'm GLAD I am unable to join in. Seems like a shameless marketing ploy to get Lavinia "out there" more! (Jumps off soapbox!)
