There are some gorgeous colours all around me and my dahlia is still showing off in all its glory.
My geranium in the hanging basket is boasting with soft rich pinky purple flowers.
The leaves of my azalea look as though the edges have been painted with purple. Is there a garden fairy out there doing this?
And my acers are turning fiery red.
I still have fuchsias in flower, lush cream and purple.
Other leaves I see on my travels are turning shades of gold.
Autumn is such a ripe, rich season before Mother Nature starts putting everything to bed ready for its winter sleep. It's nearly time to start finding the mittens and scarves and snuggling down indoors in the evenings.
I was inspired by magic of all these colours to make the 3rd of my 4 Halloween tags. First I made my inky background. I used a mixture of Distress inks which I blended and then added some flicks of water to. I then used my Tim Holtz Gothic stencil and inked through some Dusty Concord DI.
I also decided that a little magic was needed as my focal so I stamped one of my Lavinia Fairy's as the focal. I made a frame for her which I coloured with browns and purple DIs and I added some crackle paint too.

We enjoyed an lovely autumn walk in the woods with our darling son and Bear on Sunday. The leaves are just beginning to fall, adding to the thick carpet there. The woods are such a magical place to wander and for Bear there are so many smells to sniff. It was a perfect afternoon.Autumn is such a ripe, rich season before Mother Nature starts putting everything to bed ready for its winter sleep. Wow 400 posts, congratulations Jane!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust look at that gorgeous Bear, I would love to give him a hug . :)
Well you know I'm a spring/summer girl but the one thing autumn does have in its favour are the colours and you have captured them so well in your clever little tag, I love the little fairy.
It's another beautiful sunny day here, we are very lucky at the moment but no doubt our turn will come!
Happy Tuesday my friend,
V x
Absolutely gorgeous tag, the fairy looks perfectly at home
ReplyDeleteI saw your gorgeous tag over at Party Time Tuesdays and wanted to pop in and take a closer look! It's gorgeous! Love the technique you used! I have some stencils and haven't tried it yet - thank you for the inspiration! Also enjoyed seeing your flower photos!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jane! What beautiful photos you're sharing with us again! It's surprising how far behind us the season is for you 'down South'! We have already lost a lot of leaves from the trees and those that are left are rich gold and orange tones - not very much green to be seen! There's not much left in the garden and pickings were thin in the hedgerows on mine and MIL's walk this afternoon for foliage for the Harvest windows in church! We'll have to be a bit more imaginative this year!
ReplyDeleteI love to see your pretty tags with all your wonderful inky techniques and this one is definitely reminiscent of our walk today. Looks like we're in for more of the wet stuff tomorrow and as for gloves and scarves - mine are already out! Hugs, Lisa x
PS Congrats on your 400th post, I think I've been around for most of them! x
ReplyDeleteLovely photos - and a beautiful tag. Thanks for sharing with us at Vintage Stamping!

ReplyDeleteYour garden is still looking so colourful despite the change in the weather, Jane. Love all those pretty shades. Your latest tag is very magical and captures the season so well. I'm so glad you had a lovely woodland walk with your boy and Bear :)

Beautiful pictures and Bear is such a gorgeous dog!
I love your tag and the depth you were able to create and the hints of purple are perfect to evoke the magic of Autumn.
Thank You~
Love your tag, Jane...such beautiful colours and details.
ReplyDeleteI so envy you (in a nice way of course) for having such obvious changes in the gardens and woods with the changing seasons. Here in Australia, there are not many areas that reflect the beauty of the different seasons.
Hugs,
Jennifer. x
