Good Monday morning all. I am here with my weekly post for Visible Image and some new inspiration. Phew what a hot week it has been but I really must not complain as my garden has loved it.
All my pots of summer bedding are flourishing and are a mass of glorious flowers.
The bees have been humming around and I have seen lots of butterflies but they seem to vanish whenever I try to grab my camera!
However one found it's way into my kitchen...or perhaps this might be a pretty moth?
My card today was inspired by these amazing insects and the sunny colours in my garden and uses, in my opinion. the best butterfly stamps on the market. Visible Image have sold these gorgeous butterflies for some years. I got mine when they were sold as individual stamps but they now come in 2 great sets.
I also used the brilliant time swirl as I had the idea to have the tiny butterflies emerging from the end of it. These were the stamp sets I worked with. I have linked to the web site.
I created a distress oxide background.
..I love the effects you can get with the Oxides...a real splash of colour here.
I stamped the time swirl.
I also stamped and embossed some butterflies on some inky mop up card and fussy cut them out.
I added the butterfly shadow and stamped the small butterfly silhouettes emerging from the time swirl. The sentiment is from the Unicorn set. I stuck the fussy cut butterflies over the shadows which gives such a cool 3D effect.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

Gorgeous card, and your garden is full of colour too.
ReplyDeleteA lovely collection of images on your beautiful card and a gorgeous riot of colour in your garden. I love the way the butterflies swirl round with the clock and the fabulous doxide background. Have a great week xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card, Jane! I think I NEED these Distress Oxides, but just can't justify spending on crafty stash at the moment...maybe I'll build up one at a time?! They create such wonderful backgrounds and I love the chalky effect they give...but which colours to choose first?!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking lovely with all this Summer sunshine, though I think we've been having it a little cooler than you (thankfully) Glad you had a weekend spent with family - definitely the best kind! Hugs, Lisa x
Beautiful card Jane - such a gorgeous design and I adore the oxide background! Am waiting for mine to arrive from Joanna Sheen, finally bit the bullet as they're on offer :) And you garden is pretty as a picture. Years ago we had loads of pots full of flowers, a lot of work and also a lot of watering - but very rewarding as well. Slightly cooler today here - for which I'm rather grateful I hate to admit!

Jane, you have created the most beautiful background for your silhouette images! I love the extra layering of the butterflies which seem to fly right off the card! Thank you for sharing this with us at Frilly and Funkie for our 'In the Good Old Summertime' challenge! Hugs!
ReplyDeletePS Your garden is looking so beautiful! I'm wondering what hot to you is? We have had temps in the mid to upper nineties (Fahrenheit) and high humidity for weeks and everything is looking very tired! I don't blame your butterfly for wanting to come indoors!
I love watching butterflies in the garden too...and love them as a design motif. Your butterfly card is so pretty Jane. Have a wonderful week enjoying your lovely flowers and crafty days.
