New products from Visible Image to celebrate their 20th anniversary

Hello everyone it's time for my fortnightly blogged design team post for Visible Image. There are some VERY exciting new products just released to celebrate 20 years of Visible Image. This includes 3 MDF shapes and eighteen 4"mini stencils plus paints, stamping blocks and lots more.

These are the new mini stencils

In the new MDF range there is a pen/brush pot, a tray and a cube. All are beautifully made here in the UK. The new small stencils were sized to decorate the box and cube but they also are wonderful for card making and any mixed media work, as you will have seen in the design team projects we have been sharing on social media.

The make I have decided to share a tutorial for today uses the new MDF tray

and the new mini Inky Art word stencil The tray is very simple to put together. I just add some collage medium to the raw edges (you could use any suitable glue) to hold it tightly together. When I first saw the tray I thought it would be perfect for storing paints and other media in my studio so my decoration was inspired by those thoughts. Even when dripped on this tray decoration will never look "spoilt!"

So after putting my tray together and gluing it I painted the visible surfaces with a coat of gesso to seal it. I then gave it  2 coats of white acrylic paint.

Next I painted the sides yellow.

I added some splashes of acrylic paint in yellow, blue, red and green to the inside. I watered the paint down a little and blew it around with a camera dusting blower. I purposely let it splash up the sides and left some white space in the centre for the stencil.

I then used the Ink splats stamp set

and archival ink. Perfect to resemble the inevitable paint and ink rings which will be left when using the tray!

I also added some of the stamping around the edges.

I stuck the new 4" Inky Art word stencil in place (top middle) in the centre with some masking tape

and added dark grey paint through the stencil. Always remember to wash your stencils immediately afterwards when using paint.

When dry I replaced the stencil and added some white pen detailing .

Finally, using the 4 larger flowers from the

Flower power stamp set

I repeat stamped them using archival ink around the outside of the tray.

Here is my finished tray again.

and 1 final shot showing my tray all stacked up and ready to use!

These new MDF products are a dream to decorate and I am looking forward to getting my art tray back after the TV shows to use in my studio. Obviously you could use the trays for anything; putting you keys in, keeping spice jars tidy in the kitchen etc, the list is endless. They would also make delightful personal gifts for your friends and family.

As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations a brilliant limited edition cat set was also released on Monday's Hobbymaker TV shows called Purr-fect birthday.

These are the 2 samples I made with it.

If there are any left don't delay grabbing one as they are a "one and done" and won't be re made. When they are gone, they're gone.

Both of these cards below were the some of the first DT makes I made for them and you an see that I used them as inspiration for my latest cat cards.

Fond memories.

I would like to close by thanking Mark and Helen aka Mr and Mrs Visible Image, for all their support over the years. I have bought Mark's stamps since he first made them himself and sold on Ebay 20 years ago. I also met Helen when she joined him and eventually became co director of Visible Image. I have been on their design team, first as a guest designer in 2016 and they then invited me back to join the team as a full design team member in 2017. Over the last 7 years I have made them hundreds of new release samples and design team makes using their wonderful products.  I have loved my time on the team and I'm proud to be their longest serving DT member.  Happy 20th anniversary Visible Image. Times have changed, as you are now part of the Gemporia/ Hobbymaker group, but here's to many more happy and creative years ahead.

All the Visible Image links are listed below;
Our kind, friendly and supportive customer Facebook Group is here ...it would be lovely to see you join us.  You will be warmly welcomed and see lots of inspiration from the DT and customers to inspire your own creativity.
I also organize a monthly artist trading card swap in the group. Whether you are a new stamper or a seasoned one you are most welcome to join us. Over 150 members, worldwide, have taken part since it started over 3 years ago. It's been such fun and it's so lovely to receive a unique piece of art from your partner in the post. The details and sign up for each swap are posted in the group on the 23rd of the month. So the September  sign up will be in the group next week on 23rd August. There is no "monthly" commitment, just join in when you have the time and if you live in the UK can you choose to post to the UK only if that suits you best.
