My uber talented crafting friend Brenda of Bumblebees and Dragonflies recently showed a card she had made which was linked to a card challenge I had not heard of before. I followed the link and was delighted to find The Funkie Junkie. Similar to Tim Holtz's annual 12 tags of Christmas, Linda, the owner of the Funkie Junkie blog and store is hosting a similar event for 2013. The beauty of her challenge is that you are allowed to be a little more "frilly and girlie" rather than pure grunge, which suits me just fine and you do not have to use just Ranger products.There are great prizes to be one...and a spending spree in her store is in line for the lucky winners! Do check out her store on line boutique here
There are 12 tags which she will make and share over the coming weeks. The challenge is open until 22 December. Her tags are to take inspiration from or "case"and you can create a tag, card or any other card making project. I have decided to join in with this as it is also another great way for me to get 12 more Christmas cards or tags made and time is really ticking my now. If you would also like to join in with the fun this is the link
For week one the tag she has made for inspiration is shown here
For my card I wanted to try "casing" Linda's tag using the black and white background, the chalky snowflake effect and the icicles. Now I do not have any Tim Holtz stamps or stencils so I decided that I had to be a little Heath Robinson and look at my stash of crafting goodies. I have 2 lovely snowflake stamps which I decided to use on my black background card. I stamped them with white pigment ink. I also used one of my Lili of the Valley Christmas Grungy messages as the central sentiment for my card. I think this is my most unusual use for one of these little sentiments, I usually tuck them away in the background. This time it is the focal for my card and here it is;
Here is my LOTV sentiment in close up which is edged using Diamond Dust glass glitter, it gives such a great frosty effect.
I used a Cheery Lynn Tropical Flourish die cut which I also blinged up with Diamond Dust
Here is is in close up, it looks as though Jack Frost has been around ;0)
It is for sale in my Etsy Shop here
I would like to thank Linda for organising such a fun challenge and I really hope to join in with all 12 projects.Of course mine will have a Jane's Journal twist...LOL!

It is the most horrible day today, windy and raining. We are leaving for Goodwood in the next 1/2 hour and yes I will be taking a brolly. It's a fun way though to spend the day. Enjoy your Sunday and thanks to Brenda for sharing Linda's great challenge and to Linda for hosting it.
Keep dry and carry on crafting ;0)
Back soon,
Bye for now,
