The Christmas lists are being written

I have now had 2 Christmas shopping trips and have managed to make a small dent in my presents to buy list. Luckily our family is small and I don't have too many people to buy for. I had a fun and successful shop on Thursday with my dear friend Karen.

We met for lunch and I always enjoy seeing the decorations that the shopping centres put up for Christmas.
We always have  real trees at home but it's fun seeing the artificial ones in lots of bright colours.

I  really liked the lights around the escalators in House of Fraser
and this wintry look in their basement.
I managed to tick off quite a few presents from my list ;0)

My card today is inspired by my trip and the rather non traditional Christmas colours I saw. I used my Visible Image trees stamps. I inked a backing with distress inks. The snowy foreground I embossed and the die cut is Cheery Lynn. I added some Frantage to give a snowy effect and a snowy ribbon.

and a close up.
I'm not a pink girl at all but I rather like this one.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges;

Cheery Lynn anything goes
The Craft Barn snowflakes
Pixies' snippets playground 1/3  #204 I used a snippet of card for my holly and a snippet of ribbon.
Simon says stamp Wednesday Christmas
Creative Inspirations 3/3 festive fun
Noor UK anything goes
As you like it favourite season and why 2/3 mine is winter for the single reason that it includes Christmas which is just my favourite celebration.
Papertake weekly let it snow
Inspiration Emporium mission embossable wet or dry embossing, mine is both wet and dry with this card
Bunny Zoe 2/3 sparkle
Emerald Faeries 3/3 Oh Christmas tree
Little Claire's 2/3  Christmas in white

We certainly got a taste of winter at the weekend, sleet and cold wind on Saturday but bright clear frosty mornings which suit me fine.  Keep warm and thanks for visiting today and leaving your kind comments.

Back soon,

Bye for now,

Jane x

  2. This is absolutely beautiful Jane! Such pretty colours (you may know I'm a person who does adore pink!) and the scene is just perfect. I really must dig out my frantage and have a play - you used it beautifully here. Great embossing and holly - altogether fabulous.

It was lovely to see the photos from your shopping trip - made me a bit sad really as right now it's looking like I'll be housebound and won't get to see all the pretty lights and decorations. Here's hoping you take more photos and post them so I can peek via the screen here :)

  4. I'm not a pink girl either but I like your pretty card too!
It is getting very Christmassy, certainly in the shops but I'm still in denial, I can't believe we are at this point of the year. It was only summer last week!!!

  10. It's hard to think Christmas when the weather is mild! Looks like the cooler temperatures are coming your way too. We are looking forward to our Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, then it becomes the crazy Christmas season for the next month!
Lovely card! The pink tones work well with the contrasting trees!

  11. Hello dear Jane,

Here is one pink loving-girl who thinks that card is perfect - who said Christmas colors should ONLY be red&green&gold? Nope, that little pink will do beautifully, love it! And that Christmas-shopping of yours, looks wonderful, all those happy lights and beautiful decorations... Just gorgeous.

Enjoy these happy days, first Advent just around the corner already!

    Yours,
    Mia

  14. Beautiful card Jane, I love the little window you created for your wintery scene! Great shots of your shopping, I love that the stores decorate for the holidays!! Where I used to live, there wasn't much for decorations in the public stores and plazas but I'm hoping that where we live now will be more festive. hugs :)

  15. Good afternoon, Jane! The lists I'm not having a problem with, it's actually managing to do something about it that has me worried! I've managed to create a VERY small dent in my Christmas list so far and am still pondering over a few relatives...not to mention my boys, I mean they say that men are the hardest to buy for and I have 3 of them! Josh hasn't admitted to not believing (though I think he's just concerned that his quota of parcels might be smaller!) so I will still have to organise stockings...not the easiest of accomplishments for a 40 year old, all but 18 and 12 year old!

Jason passed his driving test yesterday, I'm so proud but absolutely terrified at the same time, though I don't think he'll be driving properly until the New Year when we can sort out about cars, insurance, etc And before that I have the worry of him going off on a skiing holiday with his girlfriend and her family - is he trying to give me a coronary?!

Love your pretty Christmas card, but then I'm a sucker for pink! Pretty embossed background and simple design. Have a fabulous week, hugs, Lisa x
